CN's Toonami... OVER?
It may be.
I was just having the TV on without looking, Toonami was on, it ended and, well... Here's what I remember of the message: "Well, it's over folks. After over 20 years, Toonami is coming to an end. We'd like to thank every one of the people who went on this journey with us. We hope we left you with some good memories." ... Wow. Toonami being over. I didn't like it that much, but I did have some enjoyment at times. ... Wow. |
Yup, I just heard the news today. A loooot of fans are upset, and they have reason to be. CN didn't even give a warning that this was going to happen! I don't think that was very fair to the fans. I didn't watch the block much, but I feel for the fans. :'(

man i remember back around 2000-2004 or so, when it had some good stuff.
is it a bad thing im more worried about the code geass thing in the above post? |
I never saw more than the last few minutes of it while waiting for Foster's to begin and I wasn't familiar with the shows anyway so I can't say I'll miss it. It annoys me that CN didn't give any notice about it, though. That's pretty disrespectful to the fans in my opinion. :frankiemad:

I've been hearing for a while that Toonami was going to be ending this year, so for me, it wasn't a surprise. I didn't know the block was ending tonight, though, until I watched Samurai Jack. I mostly watched Toonami when it had the Midnight Run several years ago, and I watched it some even after the Midnight Run was gone. Recently, outside of Samurai Jack, I pretty much didn't care for Toonami very much, and I did not like the latest and final version of TOM. I did like how the block ended, though, with TOM using a quote from Spike Spiegel (that and TOM are some of Steven Blum's most well-known voice-over roles)..."bang".

The farewell message was a bit depressing.

Eh. I don't really watch Toonami that much anymore, but it's still disappointing that the block is now dead. What will air instead on Saturday nights before Adult Swim?
|
Countless CN "original" reruns. :P
This is just sheer proof that CN is now another mindless kiddy network. :| |
I was hoping they'd rerun the entire series of Bobobo-Bobo-Bobo.
... Or whatever it was called. |
Though I haven't watched Toonami in a LONG time, it still sucks seeing a part of my TV childhood get casted off so abruptly. If it weren't for that cartoon block, I doubt I wouldn't have had much of a fondness for Japanese animation as I do now.
Stay gold! :) |

Yeah, but if there's any chance of any of these BAD new shows (Johny Test, Skunk Fu, so on)...
Heads will roll. >=( |
If it were up to me they wouldn't fill the time with action or any CN cartoons at all. Give the time to Bugs, Daffy, the Coyote, and the rest of the Warner Bros. classics. Now that would be worth tuning in for! ;D

I wasn't a big Toonami fan, but 11 years isn't bad of a run for a block |
I don't get Boomerang. Probably just as well; I'd spend all day watching Yosemite Sam and wondering what the writers really wanted him to say. ;D 8D

This really does suck if you ask me. I kind of had long given up on Toonami since none of my favorite anime shows were on it anymore, though I still caught their airings of Naruto and Bobobobobo from time to time. But being someone who was bred as a child and as an adult to feed off of cartoons, this is truly a terrible program block to lose.
I remember when Toonami first came on WAY back before when Moltar was Space Ghost was airing the likes of Reboot, Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, and Johnny Quest. When the kick ass 3 DBZ movie special was airing with the first 3 DBZ movies airing back to back, and had trailers for each film narrated by the late great Don LaFontaine. I watched DBZ religiously on CN's Toonami. I remember all the artwork submitted, the multiple changes Tom the robot went through, and how even Justice League and Batman Beyond became a part of it. It was an excellent, exciting, and beautifully designed programming block that made superb advertisement ads for its shows with excellent presentation and featured a wide variety of shows over the years. Toonami, thanks for all you've done, later. |
I've never been a big Toonami watcher... Anime is usually hit or miss with me. I've only ever watched CN for PPGs, Fosters, and now Ben 10 Alien Force.
But I watched the ending on YouTube, and I think it was sad. But I couldn't help but giggle at "Stay Gold." PONYBOY!!! I'm hoping that was a total Outsiders reference, but I doubt it. -Marty :goo: |

i might have said this before, i dont know. but i never really cared all that much for toonami. i only watched it for a few shows (mainly Dragonball Z and zatch bell.) still kinda sad to see it go. |
The only time I watched it was when they aired comic book movies, which is what they're replacing it with.
