WHOA hair dye!

Ok, so I dye at least 40% of my hair all the time in shades that are unnatural (I do the underside), but this last time I dyed a good 80% of it purple and it's a huuuge change so I had to post it! I am so happy with the way it turned out. Luckily I work for my mom and dad so they're really lenient with my hair colors, plus, most of the customers at the restaurant seem to like it anyhow.

Here's the under side:

And here's how it looks from the front with my hair down:

Does anyone else here dye their hair in fun colors? I think I've done every color but green. I just got done with pink and blue, but I'll avoid green for now because I have light blond hair and I don't want my head to look like a chlorine mishap!

AWESOME.

I can't dye my hair anything but black. It won't take anything else. I even tried bleaching part of it out so I could color it. My hair was so resistant to the bleach that they had to keep applying more and more, a stronger mixture each time, and I wound up with a chemical burn on my scalp (because I have uber-sensitive skin). So then I went to another salon later to have that bleached streak dyed blue...and NONE of it would stay. It would just rinse out. :/ Even though it was bleached.

Last month I went to dye my hair black for a cosplay at Comic-Con. I used a semi-permanent because I didn't think I really needed a permanent. It washed right out. :P I did it a second time and just tried not to wash my hair much until the cosplay.

My hair is made of Teflon. D:

edit: Oh and you're lucky, my parents (especially my mom) was really mean about people who dyed their hair/had piercings etc. I pierced my nose in college (I was over 18 and everything) and my mom threw a temper tantrum any 2 year old would be proud of. -_-

Love it! As great as the blue you had awhile back. The whole look is fabulous. ;D

You've got to try the green sometime, too. Bet it works out fine. ;)

WiltsAKGirl17 08-09-2008 08:44 PM

Whoa, cool!

I've never dyed my hair anything but a darker shade of brown, and considering that I now work at a bank, I probably shoudn't change that! My stepmom on the other hand once added a three inch streak of pink to her hair.

Her occupation: high school English teacher. 8D (The dress code for teachers is fairly lax in case you can't tell...)

Wow, I like the effect the purple and blonde make when layered like that, it looks really cool.

I've dyed my hair a total of four times so far, three of which were a very natural color, only a shade or two darker than my natural hair color. One time I tried going for an auburn (brown with a rich reddish tint), and I don't know if it was just how my hair took to it or the color on the box wasn't true to the results, but my hair turned a bright red. It was hilarious as everyone who knew me knew it wasn't like me to dye my hair such a bright color out of nowhere like that. I also was really embarrassed about it because it just wasn't me, and I feared I was portraying myself as someone I really wasn't. Seriously though, I could have passed for Ariel had my mermaid costume been in the same style as hers. And it grew on me after a few weeks (which was also after it faded a bit). I might color my hair again sometime, but after living in the Pacific Northwest for three years now, my natural color has had a chance to shine without getting much chance to get bleached by the sun. :P And for the most part, I like my natural hair color. I haven't dyed it in years now.

Wow! That's a pretty color. :)

Imaginary Light 08-10-2008 09:40 AM

That's very awesome-looking. I like the purple and blonde together like that.:)

I've had the urge recently to dye my hair a really crazy color, but I can never decide what I want to do. I was thinking bleach blonde with black underneath (kinda like you have the purple underneath), but then I worry that I'll look ridiculous because my natural hair is so different from that (it's like a brown that changes in whatever light I'm in, ranges from reddish-brown to dark brown).

Most excellent!

When I was still in high school, I had my hair super short and spiky, and it was bright bubblegum pink. I loved it, I would do it again if I could, well I'd keep the length this time instead of chopping it off.

The white over the purple really flows well together, it looks fantastic =)

That's crazy!! Is your hair really porous and can't hold color, or just very healthy and resistant to damage? Either way, it's too bad that you don't get to keep whatever you do for more than a day :(

Your mom sounds kind of like my grandmother, except my grandmother is less temper tantrum and more rude lol. It doesn't bother me, really, but seriously, every time I do a different color, she asks "Oh, KRISTI. WHAT did you do to your head? I liked it the old way so much better..." 8D I just ignore her mostly.

Aw :D you shouldn't worry about looking ridiculous. If it makes you happy, go for it! That's a pro of hair color, you can go COMPLETELY different from your normal shade and love it. I say as long as you want it and think it'll look good, go for it ;)

And thanks to everyone for the nice compliments! You guys are too sweet =)

thats pretty metal.

i've only dyed my hair once, and it was like a wine-red color. I had a mohawk then. I didn't want to go through the hassle of bleaching my hair or i would've dyed it pink or blood red or something but i've got the blackest hair ever :P

but thats awesome, SD

I've never tried to dye my hair- my hair is sort of a dark auburn, though, so I'd have to bleach it.

I have had my crazy curly hair chemically straightened, which was fine for a while, but I'm back to my curls now. I got to the point where I could straighten it with out getting it chemically done in about fifteen minutes with the flat iron, so yeah.

Thanks!

Mohawks are awesome =D My boyfriend had a purple one for a while lol. He still has the purple, but it's red too now and not in a mohawk anymore.

@ Lucyrocks73: OMG I feel your pain! I have wavy hair that is so hard to keep straight that I might as well have curls. It's so thick and at any sign of humidity, it curls back up again. Ugh!

Thank goodness for my Chi.

Gods, how I wished to be able to multi-color my hair.. but it's too long!!

http://album.partyflock.nl/50151200.jpg
See?

Cassini90125 09-26-2008 10:59 AM

Long = no hair dye? I'm confused... :terrconf:

Natty 09-26-2008 11:04 AM

long = too much hairdye needed... I once needed three packages of hair-dye to put stripes in my hair!!

And Hairdye ish expensive..

Cassini90125 09-26-2008 11:11 AM

Ah, okay, I get it now. Thanks!

Fomalhaut 10-02-2008 09:51 AM

Awesome looks!

I have a few hair dye stripes in my hair, but it's just some copper red in my slightly reddish brown hair, which looks fine.

I'm currently considering dying all my hair blonde to shock my friends :)

So, should I go for it?

Cassini90125 10-02-2008 10:43 AM

Eh, if it's fun, why not? ;D

lucyrocks73 10-02-2008 03:59 PM

There was an issue with the school pictures at my school- blond hair looked green, really dark almost purple, and medium (like mine) looked really dark.

A lot of people commented on how good I looked with really dark hair... It was funny, though, seeing the preppy people look very strange with their green hair and matching argyle sweaters.

Ha.
