Comic-Con International 2008 - San Diego, CA

As some of you may know, some of us here are planning to take another trip to San Diego, California in late July. For a few, including myself, this would be the third consecutive appearance at Comic-Con, some for the second time, and maybe a few people could be going for the first time ever. *points at a random person* Will you be one of them? :) The 2008 Comic-Con will take place Thursday, July 24-Sunday, July 27, 2008, with Preview Night to be on Wednesday, July 23. If you wish to know more about the event, visit www.comic-con.org.

Now that I've got your attention, raise your hand, if you're absolutely serious about attending the con this year! Get those hands up, people! 8-) *waves hands around*

Sparky 01-17-2008 08:06 PM

Government Man, myself, and hopefully a new prop will be attending all days. ;) Early registration is recommended, as they did sell out some days last year. Although note that cost has gone up.

I believe Lauren will have her booth again this year (My Firefly, Inc), although the exhibitor's list on the site is still from last year so I'm not sure.

One Radical Dude 01-17-2008 08:11 PM

Really? :terrconf: I think the preliminary list that's up is for 2008, which includes My Firefly, Inc. and Cartoon Network. Unless my eyes are tricking me. 8D

You're right, my bad.

Cassini90125 01-17-2008 08:14 PM

(Raises hand) Oh, wait, you already know I'm going.

Not much I can add to what ORD already said. If any of y'all can make it, that would be grand; it's a great adventure with plenty to see and do both at the Con itself and elsewhere in beautiful San Diego, and it's a great opportunity to meet some of the people behind our favorite show, and a few of your fellow Never Forgotten members, too. If you can come, by all means come! ;D

narfcake 01-17-2008 09:08 PM

As usual, I'm going. Not sure where I'll end up staying and which days yet, however. It'll be very dependent on my (new?) job.

Offer still stands if you need me as Bloo at any poit.

CG 01-17-2008 09:15 PM

I'm attending, and it appears that my friend Matt may be joining me. Maybe. Also maybe on my buddy Ralinda from Texas.

Let's all cue CG's mom to get on her back again! (yes, it has happened already!)

BluebottleFlyer 01-18-2008 01:10 AM

I'm hoping to be there this year, for the first time, I've been thinking about this since early last year, and I'm really looking forward to it. However, nothing's for certain, so you will just have to pencil me in for the time being, I need to get my passport sorted and a good amount of money together. But I really want to be part of this, to be able to experience the 'Con first hand, see the sights of San Diego, and hopefully to meet some of you.:)

Ccook50 01-18-2008 02:08 AM

Probably not me this year. Financial considerations (outstanding expenses and bailing out family members in trouble) will keep me in metro Atlanta this summer.

cartman414 01-18-2008 02:34 PM

Third time for me. Pre-registered a few months ago for the whole weekend this time. Hoping to go with one of my old friends from high school who I learned was there just a little too late.

Hopefully the writer's strike won't last long enough to screw things up.

Wendi 01-18-2008 02:44 PM

Ohh! I want to go so bad! But it's totally out of reach, haha!

Maybe, I'll actually see you this time. Don't be afraid to say hello. :D

They have to get things settled soon. I realize why they're doing what they're doing, but I'm honestly wanting this whole mess to end. :P

Yeah. Not to start an argument here, but stupid studio execs. Writers gots to get their pay for the internet based plays.

After having such a blast last year, I am heading back to the SDICC for another round of good old fashioned fun...IN AMERICA!

You wouldn't happen to be Bandit Keith, would you? He's actually Canadian. :weirded:

And now that you've figured it out, I must silence you forever the only way I know how....By besting you at a children's card game! 8D

I play Copycat*, and copy your catchphrase, "IN AMERICA!"

* one of my sentimental favorites from the actual game which I've played a little bit of

Subzeroace 01-19-2008 12:44 PM

Screw the Con, I don't have money D= *is shot*

I wish I could go but I don't have the money to get there. As always I'll be there in spirit, watching on G4.

Well maybe this time you'll see some of us. I think ORD was going to take a stab at actually wearing the Bloo costume in the convention hall. We'll all act as his bodyguards/seeing-eye fans.

I really wanted to do that last year. Maybe this year, I'll get a shot. 8-)

Anyone else planning to go? I know there's more hands that gotta go up. :yeah:

BluebottleFlyer 01-23-2008 02:35 AM

Big apologies to ORD, who's heard this a thousand times already...:(

I'm aware that you have to register for a 4-day pass to be able to get into the Con. All well and good, I can afford it. However, my only method of payment is a Solo debit card, and the site won't accept it. (In fact, pretty much no online payment site will take my card, and to this day I don't know why). Now, the site will take Visa cards, and my brother Chris has a Visa (Electron) card, so I am going to give him the registration fee to put into his bank account, and then he'll try and register using his card. However, I'm not sure that Visa and Visa Electron are quite the same, and in a previous transaction, Chris' card wasn't accepted, because of it being Electron and not simply Visa.
I'm really sorry to bang on about this, but it's such a headache, and I want to sort this out as soon as.

bloonuggets 01-23-2008 04:03 AM

Sadly, good ol' bloonuggets won't be able to go to SDCC because it's too darn far away.

But there's a few good hostels there from what I've heard and seen on the interwebs...

4 day pass? You can register for single day passes too, though I'm sure that's not the gist of your post. Heck, this is the first Con for which I've registered the entire weekend.

Right now, no one can register for single-day passes (that may come later). Also, I don't think BBF intends on going to Comic-Con for just one day. :P

narfcake 01-23-2008 01:03 PM

Yep ... there's no way one can take in everything down there in just one day.

(It's really just a matter of time in which it'll expand to a full Wednesday ... then comes a Tuesday night preview, etc.)

Gotta go for the full trip. I don't think one can possibly enjoy everything that Ralph's the Con has to offer in just a single day. ;)

Congratulations on your 2000th post, by the way. ;D

Hence the "I'm sure that's not the gist of your post".

Sparky 01-23-2008 04:03 PM

BBF: Have you tried a vanilla Visa? Those are supposed to work online. I think you guys have those over there, lol...

BluebottleFlyer 01-24-2008 09:55 AM

Disregard that message now, it's all OK now. Thanks, ORD, I appreciate the help.:)

Do they come in chocolate? :cheese: 8D

Ccook50 03-22-2008 10:34 AM

Well, looks like I'll be there after all. My brother-in-law is spotting me some SkyMiles to make the trip, so all I have to deal with is hotel and a car. If I can remember it, I'll bring the original boards from the Foster's story I did last year ("Block Rockin' Feats").

Cassini90125 03-22-2008 10:40 AM

Glad you can make it! ;D

Good luck with the hotel, too.

One Radical Dude 03-22-2008 10:25 PM

That's excellent news, Ccook. 8-)

bloonuggets 03-25-2008 03:34 PM

Cassini, are you gonna wear that Frankie costume again?

I didn't wear one last year, nor have I ever dressed as my beloved redhead.

Try to pay attention to what's going on, m'kay? :frankiemad:

CG 03-26-2008 01:24 AM

.... *tilts head slightly* Um.... "double u tea eff?" asks the girl who was the one wearing the Frankie costume last year. Did this poster mean to say that I am male looking, or something?

That's a little insulting if it is what you meant but if it's because you're... a little silly, I'll forgive it.

bloonuggets 03-26-2008 07:20 AM

Sorry...:( I couldn't remember the person...even the right one who was in the costume. Besides, seeing Cassini as Frankie would have everyone ROTFLTMFAsO. I'll forgive you all for my mistake.

Ccook50 05-07-2008 02:39 PM

Comic-Con is now out of the equation for me. I haven't had any comic book work since February (given they've since changed editors), I've been hemmoraging money due to family matters and unexpected expenses, and I'll be horn-swoggled if I'll pay over $4 for a gallon of gas.

Cassini90125 05-07-2008 02:43 PM

Aw, man, that sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. :bloosad:
