Anyone gone to the new "Alvin and the Chipmunks" movie?

I haven't but here's a link to a few movie trailers:

fosters home fan 12-15-2007 01:49 PM

Erm, nope. It doesn't look very good to me. Lolz! :P

Sparky 12-15-2007 01:58 PM

It looks HORRIBLE to me but I'd still like to hear what other people have to say about it.

One Radical Dude 12-15-2007 01:59 PM

The trailer did not impress me at all. That's all I gotta say about that. :P

Nyo 12-15-2007 03:43 PM

I hear this movie= EPIC PHAILURE

Seems like it'd be more worth it to wait for it to hit TV to me.

Cassini90125 12-15-2007 03:52 PM

I'd rather see Gigli. :P

Mr. Marshmallow 12-15-2007 04:31 PM

I'll be perfectly honest, I pretty much hate this "company" or "team" or whoever it is taking these cartoons and making these god awful CGI movies like "Garfield" and "Underdog". They're ONLY good one and I didn't think so at first until I saw it, is the Scooby Doo movie in my opinion.

However, in comparison to Garfield and Underdog.....this doesn't look that bad. I mean it doesn't look great but it looks decent enough that I would consider looking at it. I love Jason Lee, the chipmunks at least sound like their old selves and they look much better then I thought they would.

Doing them like this probably made more sense then making the deformed, rodent humanoid appearance they originally had (I still never understood what the hell they were supposed to be). Anyway I have to say, I've seen worse ads for even worse movies, this doesn't look that unimaginably horrible.

I'm probably sounding nuts for saying this but I got to be honest, compared to the crap they made before and crap other companies has made before, there's much worse out there then this Chipmunks movie and I definitely have to say, if i was being dragged to see this, I wouldn't complain that much.

I'm unsure if I want to pay 8 bucks for it because I'd rather save it up for "National Treasure: Book of Secrets", but still this doesn't look all that extremely bad.

emperor26 12-15-2007 04:49 PM

I doubt that this film version of the cartoon will fare well in theaters, compare to other movies such as "I Am Legend" and "National Treasures: Book of Secrets".

I think you might want to rethink that emperor. Your talking about a kids movie open on school winter break?

If you ask me, there gonna get quite a bit of cash releasing it at this holiday time.

I forsee a lot of unhappy parents on that day. The previews look like it will be a very grating movie, something that is endured rather than enjoyed. I'm sure some people will like it but I'm not going anywhere near it.

Medikor 12-15-2007 05:41 PM

To me, it looks like, Jason Lee would be the only positive thing about seeing this movie. I don't even think being a kids movie can save it. National Treasure was popular with both kids and adults. I think this movie is only bound for being a cheap filler in television movie line-ups.

Carlaz 12-15-2007 06:05 PM

I agree the movie looks like a dud.

I do have fond memories of listening to my "Chipmunk's Christmas" record over & over again when I was a kid. :)

Lynnie 12-15-2007 06:08 PM

As my mother was a big fan of The Chipmunks, and raised me to be a fan as well, I'm interested in seeing it. It does look kind of dumb from the previews, but I'm still curious. The scene with one of the munks taking a "shower" in the dishwasher was cute IMHO, so I'm sure it'll have other cute scenes in it too. But I'll be waiting until it comes out in DVD.

maybe its just because i'm an idiot...but this movie looks hillarious.

if i can get somebody to drive me to the mall i would literally just have to sit the whole time and not think at all. Afterwards we could get chinese in the food court.

oh God that sounds awesome!

AerostarMonk 12-15-2007 10:02 PM

I know I'm going to be rubbing a lot of people the wrong way, but you know if the Chipmunks had actually lasted this long this is probably what it would look like. For good or ill, this reinvention of the Chipmunks may have wll been inevitable.

I wanna know what editor thought up the genius idea to include that scene in the trailer. Seriously if there was 1 scene that has turned me off to seeing the movie, it's that one right there. :P

E: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q1vVnoSRR78 there's said trailer. Also: Weakest "AAALVIIIIN!" ever.

I'm quite tempted to start taking bets upon which antiquated cartoon franchise will fall victim to this live action remake trend next. :P

Seriously, if these people ever get their grubby little mitz upon the Peanuts franchise then I'm giving up on humankind once and for all and getting started on the long and complicated process of integrating myself within a colony of wild chimpanzees.

Medikor 12-20-2007 12:06 PM

They'll probably grab the Smurf's first... Nothing against Peanuts, but Smurf's just seem to be hipper these days.

Invader Bloo 12-20-2007 05:12 PM

Wouldn't be surprised if they did a live action Mickey Mouse. :X

Ignate 12-21-2007 03:34 AM

GAH. Too late, I watched it.
IMHO, it wasn't utterly terrible, but nothing too good either.
But I shouldn't be the one talking. The only thing related to them that I watched was the animated movie, and that was years ago. I didn't even know they were THOSE chipmunks until I checked Wikipedia.

Chaos Wielder 12-24-2007 12:28 AM

I personally haven't seen this movie, but my aunt and uncle did and they actually enjoyed it a lot. I guess it just has to do with taste. I have mixed feelings about it, though. Some scenes in the trailers looked kinda cute while others looked...lacking. ::) SO...I'm not sure if I'd like this or not.

As many others would say on the internet...QFT! I really don't know what I'd do if hollywood ended up "ruining" Peanuts. I can imagine the horror already. :o
