New Deviant Art Project by ME!

OK, remember how I said that I draw like a five year old? Guess what? I'm on DeviantART!

Mostly, what I'm doing here is a Foster's-based Photoshop Elements 3 project. (It's basically just a bunch of cutting and pasting, but it's still rather interesting to do.)

PROJECT TITLE: Foster's Road Trip
PREMISE: The gang's on a corss country road trip! These are some of their adventures...

Here's the link for part one: Alabama: Foster's Road Trip, part 1: Alabama

Hope you enjoy!

Lynnie 11-16-2007 04:48 PM

Cheese! Step away from the machine!! Either that or give me the saw! Now! ...Ok, Just step away from the machine! LOL!! Cute, WiltsAK, and cool idea! I greatly look forward to the other states.

WiltsAKGirl17 11-16-2007 07:33 PM

Aww... thanks Lynnie! :) I'll keep you guys posted on my progress. I know what I'm doing for Alaska (my state!), but I'm stuck on Arkansas. Anyone have any ideas?

Cassini90125 11-16-2007 07:36 PM

Uh, if you could use Frankie's image when you get to Connecticut...

(Yes, I live in Connecticut. Pity me. 8D)

BluebottleFlyer 11-17-2007 03:43 AM

Lol, typical Cheese. Nice job with that, look forward to seeing what you come up with for the other states.:)

BabyCharmander 11-17-2007 02:19 PM

Nooo, stay away from there, Cheese. XP

Maybe something to do with the Mackinac Bridge or Mackinac Island or the Henry Ford Museum when you get to Michigan? (Mackinac Island's a spiffy place. No cars--all horse-drawn carriages and bikes--and lots of tourist fudge. XB)

What are some landmarks in Connecticut that I could use? (Yes, I'll consider pitying you, Cassini.)

I have Michigan picked already, but I'll definately use Mackinac Island as a back up if I can't find a decent photo of what I'm planning. I actually have a few of the states panned out already, but others I'm drawing a complete blank. Like Arkansas.

Thanks for the warm compliments. I'll be working on Alaska tomorrow or Wednesday, hopefully. I'll keep you posted!

My personal favorite is the Great Elmwood Pile Of Dirt, which was the subject of a calendar I made a couple of years ago. (I was bored.) To be honest, I'm not sure we have any really noteworthy landmarks; this is a small, dull state, best known for insurance companies and losing our hockey team. Let me get back to you on this.

+1 on Mackinac Bridge. It IS Michigan.

Well...besides the rusting poverty of Detroit

They have diamond mines in Arkansas. That's the only state in the US that has diamonds. Some guy found a four-carat yellow diamond a little while back; four carats is a BOULDER in diamond standards by the way. There's also the University of Arkansas, with its football team, the Razorbacks. In case you were wondering, a "razorback" is a vicious feral hog. Bloo would probably go crazy looking for diamonds, determined to get rich, but you know he wouldn't know a diamond from a piece of broken glass, and if he found one, he'd probably chuck it away thinking it was just some old rock.

Arizona is interesting-lots of cacti, neat reptiles and TARANTULAS! And SCORPIONS!

Not a good place to be if you happen to be a huge shaggy, purple Imaginary Friend-monster dude with big horns and a Latino accent, though.

pitbulllady

some guy you dont know 11-19-2007 06:19 PM

er, i got an idea.

in kentucky, you could have mammoth cave, thats pretty cool. i can see eduardo freaking out at the sight of the local life there (i dont think many of them have eyes.) that or a corvette musem. maybe the UK basketball team (theres alot of awards on them.) other than that i got nothing.

antgirl1 11-19-2007 06:36 PM

In Idaho Eduardo could be eating potatos/trying to get as many potatos as he can. :smed:

WiltsAKGirl17 11-20-2007 10:48 AM

Thank you guys SO MUCH for your ideas! I appreciate it.

Here's part two: Alaska! This is the link: Foster's Road Trip, part 2: Alaska The cut-paste job here isn't my greatest ever, but I was running short on class time. (I can only do Photoshop Elements 3 on the school's computers.)

Hope you enjoy the great (if duller-than-Connecticut. Yes, such a state exists, Cassini!) state of Alaska! :D

Lynnie 11-20-2007 07:27 PM

I'm sure Wilt's glad at finding he's not the tallest thing around. :D There have been so many shows on the Travel Chanel lately about your home state, it all looks spectacular. I have a personal soft spot for mountains, and McKinley is lovely.

Washington will be waaay at the end of the list, but for my home state I can picture Mt. St. Helens and Bloo in the foreground with Frankie asking "Have you been playing with Mac's chemistry set again?" :wiltshock: 8D

...

Thanks, Lynnie. However, I should warn you-- the Travel Channel shows about Alaska only show the parts of Alaska that the cruise ships go to-- Anchorage, Fairbanks and Juneau, or the "pretty parts" as we call them at my house. I live in the Bush, which is about as flat as Kansas and no where near as pretty. Aw, but I digress!

Here are the next set of photos for the series:

Foster's Road Trip, part 3: Arizona

Foster's Road trip, part 4: Arkansas

Obviously, I used your idea for Arkansas, PBL, and I thank you very deeply for it.

Hope you guys enjoy and have a happy Thanksgiving! :)

Cassini90125 11-21-2007 12:35 PM

Nicely done, as usual. ;)

A few Connecticut landmarks:

Heublein_Tower

Gillette Castle

Foxwoods Casino

I've been to all three of these at one time or another. :)

BabyCharmander 11-21-2007 12:37 PM

The Arizona one made me laugh. XD

So you're doing these in alphabetical order? Huh, it'll be a while before you get to Michigan. Oh well. %B

Cheer up; at least you don't live in Wyoming. ;)

Thanks, Cassini! I actually think that my cut/paste job on the Arizona one wasn't all that great, but I guess i did better than I thought! Also, thanks for the links-- I'll see what I can do for Connecticut (which should be along in the next week. I just got off for Thanksgiving break this afternoon, so I'm cut off from Photoshop right now.)

I'm pretty proud of the Arizona one myself. I don't really know where the heck it came from... Yes, I'm doing the states alphabetically. Sorry, BabyCharmander. I'm working pretty quickly, though, so I may get to Michigan sooner than you'd thought!

Pretty cool idea you've got there ^^ maybe when you're done the states (which should take some time anyway XD) the Fosters Gang could go worldwide? I want to see them at the CN Tower!

I've thought of doing a worldwide thing after this, but it depends on how fast I go through the 50 states and Washington DC.

Where's the CN Tower?! I wanna see it!!!

Toronto Ontario, my birth place ^^ The world's tallest freestanding structure too bad it's kinda ugly XD

WiltsAKGirl17 11-26-2007 11:14 AM

OK, here's part 5:

Foster's Road Trip, part 5: California

Cassini, you may enjoy this one. ;) This one's just... okay. The photo of Frankie I used was small, and when I resized it, it was grainy, but you needed to see her. Plus the owrds may be a little unclear. If you guys have any questions about what it says, let me know.

And I'll be getting around to Colorado soon-- probably Wednesday.

Cassini90125 11-26-2007 11:45 AM

It's readable, and grainy or not it's always nice to see Frankie.

WiltsAKGirl17 11-26-2007 05:07 PM

Oh, thank goodness. I was worried the pink wouldn't be readable against the earthy tones of the hill the Hollywood sign was sitting on, but man, the pink works so well with the pink of her shirt. That's why I picked that color.

So does it get the Cassini seal of approval?

Methinks I now need to dream up a "CSOA" icon or some such thing. 8D

Yes, I'm happy.

Lynnie 11-26-2007 07:03 PM

'Nother nice one here, WiltsAK! I can read the text fine, too.

WiltsAKGirl17 11-28-2007 12:33 PM

OK, I'm rushing really bad, but here's part six and seven:

Colorado

Connecticut

Will reply more later. Hope you like CT, Cassini! ;)

Cassini90125 11-28-2007 03:23 PM

The state, not so much, but the pic, yeah, I like it a lot. Thanks!

Haha, well I come after you, in Oregon =P

If you need any ideas for Oregon, lemme know. I can tell you one of the most amazing places I've been too here is Crater Lake, so you could totally use that, since it's a famous landmark of Oregon and is on our state quarter =P

Also you could totally put Wilt in Oregon since he's my favorite =P!

Thanks a lot Nem. I appreciate it. I may be asking for some backup when I do get around to Oregon. My next two states will be Delaware (need help here!) and Florida.

Thanks again, you guys!

Heck, I'd be willing to move back to the East Coast. Plus, it's 40-something degrees outside today, so you may like it up here! ;)

WiltsAKGirl17 11-30-2007 12:12 PM

Please forgive the double post, but here are parts 8 and 9:

Part 8: Delaware

Part 9: Florida

Delaware isn't my best (considering I've never been there!) and I think I accidently hacked off Goo's nose when I did Florida, but I'm feeling a little distracted and was rushing, even though I had plenty of time. So if they're horrible... sorry.

Hope you guys like!

Lynnie 11-30-2007 04:13 PM

I love how Goo is looking right up to the castle. I can of course still hear her saying "OoooooOOOOOooooooooo!!!" :goo:

And I always love to see Mac. :) He's kind of pixelized, though. I've found jpgs do that a lot. It might help saving (and uploading) the pic as a gif or bmp instead. They look clearer. ;)

More nice stuff, WiltsAK. Looking forward to the next one. Which one is it, Georgia? The Peachy state. :bloosmirk:

BabyCharmander 11-30-2007 04:53 PM

HAHAHHAAHA. XD If Goo went to Disney World that would be all she talked about for a week. Without stopping. XD Nice.

Thanks, Lynnie. I'm really pleased with the way Goo in Florida turned out. Every time I thought of this pic this weekend, I smiled. XD

Georgia is next, but I'm not too sure what to use. And thanks for the tips on how to avoid pixelation. (I copyright that word, btw!)

WiltsAKGirl17 01-18-2008 11:50 AM

Please forgive my looooooong absence from this thread and my double post, but I finally have Georgia done!

Foster's Road Trip, part 10: Georgia

Kinda appropraite since Martin Luther King Day is rapidly approaching.
===
Sorry the nearly instantaneous edit, but I did Hawaii, too:

Foster's Road trip, part 11: Hawaii
