Chowder starts tonight
Chowder, a new cartoon by C.H. Greenblatt (storyboarder for SpongeBob SquarePants and The Grim Adventures Of Billy & Mandy as well as the voice of Fred Fredburger) starts tonight on Cartoon Network at 7:30 PM Eastern, and word on the show has been good. The promos are promising, and the star character has a little-kid charm. We'll see tonight.
|
Well, judging by the fact that I really like both the shows you mention, and he must have remembered some of his drawn scenes (visual gags are good.), this show currently sounds OK in my book. I just hope that it doesn't all crash. Judging on the fact that Sparky's viewing at Comic Con aparrently sucking, I'm not all for it, though.
|
I'll give the series a chance. Hopefully, it'll be another series I can get into and support on CN. I'm not too intrigued right now, but then again, I was just mildly interested in FHFIF, when it premiered (of course, that changed after watching the show). At least, it's not a new live-action series. :P
|
what i watched of the show was really funny- i was suprised, it looked really stupid at first (but i said the same about fosters at first). ill be sure to catch that tonight
|
Been looking forward to this one since he posted the teaser images on his blog SOOO many months ago =[ Too bad I can't watch it *runs away crying*
|
I've seen the adds for it on the website, however, I'm not going to judge that one until I've seen it myself.
|
My plan is to ignore it and read the reviews here after people post them. If the reviews are really good, maybe I'll take a look, but honestly I don't expect much, based on CN's recent track record.
|
I've been looking forward to this show since the clips were put up on the Cartoon Network site.
It looks weird, silly and cute;I like that. I will wait, though, and see for myself. |

That's like that other show they're going to show called "The Amazing Adrenillini Brothers" I saw the adds to that and thought "What the hell is that?" seriously, I was thinking that, are they trying to ruin Cartoon Network? |

(Sarcastic) Oh boy! I can hardly wait. I was not impressed with the trailers. I need this like I need my teeth drilled.::)
|
It's a cute little show. It's got a Seussian surrealness in its characters and scenics and some very humorous set pieces, especially in the ep "Schnitzel Makes A Deposit." The by-play of Chowder and Schnitzel may mirror that of SpongeBob and Squidward, but as where SpongeBob's childishness has the Pee-wee Herman id, Chowder's well-meaning but disaster-ridden näivete comes from the fact that he's actually a kid. It's a comedy of errors that will hopefully find an audience.
|
I don't know what your TV scedule is, but I saw it. It was surpirisingly funny. Much more than I thought. I'll give the show a try for the next few eps, and if they work well, I will be enjoying it.
|
I saw the first 2 eppies, and it was cute.
I say check it out if you like weird humor. |

i loved it so much. the dude with the candle on his head-i like him best.
|
that was a good show from what ive seen. i dont really have much else to say about it right now.
|
When I first heard about this show, I was very skeptical of how successful it would do when it premieres.
But, rather than jumping to conclusion, I decided to see the show myself, and after watching the first episode, I have to say, it was surprisingly good. At the very least, it isn't live-action (thank goodness) and I think CN, for once, actually made a good decision with giving this show a go. Hopefully, CN's other future shows will do well. |
Okay - so it has potential. I'll be ready for the next ep and see how well it goes.
I felt the same way about Foster's - now I need meetings for FHfIF addicts! |
It was odd, actually. When I first heard of it, I thought it was jusr more gross humor junk. Now I love the show!
"Uhh... Down the street, to the next city..." "Yes?" "He's dead. Chowder's dead." "Wanna cookie, Chowder?" "Boy would I!... Aw, man!" LOL. 8D Last night's chat session almost turned into Chowder audio commentary! |

Holy crap I'm starting to love Chowder/Panini... |
Ahh! It's so cuute! :] I love it! I love chowders voice Haha!
|
This may turn into one of the best things on TV.
"Whoah, whoah, wait...Fat kid running!" :D |

I caught an episode and a half of this tonight, and I think its pretty good! Wonder why they chose to show us whatever crappy clip that was at the Con instead of something funny, like the scene in the bank, or "I'm Not Your Boyfriend"...
Any show where the main character is unabashedly a fat kid has got me. Now if someone could only make one about a fat GIRL, I'd probably make a fan community for it...(I'd pitch one myself but I've been working on the concept for years and I can't come up with anything really good.) |
The clips they show on TV sure don't do it justice because to me the show looked pretty blah and totally uninteresting. I was bored and managed to watch an episode and I have to say as a whole the show isn't THAT amazing or interesting, but, I definitely can see this show lasting and its all thanks to one.
Chowder, the title character. His voice for one is quite lovable and he actually sounds like a REAL young kid and not an older person doing a kid voice impression. His facial expressions and random outbursts "PURPLE URPLES" and such are great, and there is actually some very funny writing with his dialog. The whole concept of the show however seems a bit lacking as it doesn't really "go anywhere" since its just about cooking and Chowder screwing up. But like i said before, Chowder himself proved out to be more funny then expected and while I doubt I'll make a religious habit out of watching this show, I will say its got potential. |
I thought the show was awesome. I laughed more watching those four episodes than I have in quite some time; I?m hoping that it will have many more episodes in the future.
|
I.... was quite frankly... amazed.
I LOVED it! It was hi-larious! I was sure it was going to be filled with potty-humor, but... I was wrong! It was hi-larious! "Care to give a free sample to a pretty lady?" "Sure! Do you know any?" ".... Care to give a free sample to an ugly lady?" "No, I only give samples to pretty ladies." "..." 8D I'll be sure to watch the new episode next week. |
Actually it was:
"Sorry, ugly people have to pay." xDDD |
Maybe I'm still getting use to my TiVo, but my TiVo Suggestions thought it was recording Foster's, when the schedule changed and it was now Chowder. When watching it today, I was a little disappointed to see it wasn't Foster's (although the eppie was suppose to be "Cookie Dough" and I have it on the DVD), but also delighted to see it was Chowder since I hadn't seen it yet. And I've got to say I'm liking it too! I'm relieved to learn it isn't full of potty humor like one (or two) of the promos indicated. That Schnitzel guy reminds me of Coco, since all he says is "Radal radal radal", but somehow everyone understands what he's saying. I love Chowder's voice, he sounds like Fievel from An American Tail, and sounds like an actual kid. If it is a kid, I wonder what they'll do when puberty hits? Anyone familiar with the voice actors? Chowder is voiced by a Nicky Jones, and the only VA I'm familiar with is Tara Strong, who does the voice of Truffles (among others).
|
Nicky Jones is a kid. That puberty thing bothers me too. But if Nickelodeon and Disney have switched out kids 4-5 times in the past, I think CN will have no problem. I just hope they don't smother us with Chowder. CN never learned the lesson of too much of a good thing.
|
I'm curious if they'll actually show some.. you know... food. Gourmet food. Knowledge of such beyond naming a character "Panini." Rattatouille made money after all, right?
|
Just saw today's episode, but did anyone catch the Katamari Damacy reference in the first half?
Anyway, that was another good episode from Chowder. |

What I'd do to try some of that grubble gum. :P
|
I noticed the Katamari reference! That was awesome.
Frankly, I think the last two episodes were better then the new one, but oh well, it was still great. "Cinna-mini" 8D |
Hooray for Katamari references, :D
"I regret nothing."- Gazpoucho |
Chowder's a good show. I'm starting to like it.
