Do you think most people watch fosters home only for cheese

i know i do :cheese::cheesegrin:

Sparky 09-21-2007 12:47 PM

This question is a valid one if you remember to consider Foster's actual "target" audience of small children (I'm not calling you or other older Cheese fans small children doumbe, I'm just making a point). Doubtless many small children love Cheese, and as we know, many teens and even adults do too. If you count up every person who watches Foster's, perhaps a considerable percentage does only tune in for Cheese.

However, I'd be understating myself to merely say that I HOPE that "most" people who watch the show do so because they like the SHOW and not a single character.

Lynnie 09-21-2007 07:27 PM

I personally watch the show for the humor, the heartwarming moments, the occasional drama, and the portraying of the friendship between the characters, particularly Mac and Bloo. I like Cheese ok, but he's certainly not the only reason I watch the show. :) :bloosmirk:

Ub3rD4n 09-21-2007 08:20 PM

I like Cheese, but I despair if he's the only reason people watch the show. Not to offend people, but, entertaining as he is, he is NOT worthy fodder for an entire show. Even a kids one. I think Fosters is a lot more than just watching Cheese's crazy antics. I hope I haven't offended any of you Cheese fans out there.:cheese:

Carlaz 09-22-2007 08:29 AM

I watch the show for all the characters.

I enjoy it when the gang has to pull together to sort out a problem or help one of their fellow imaginary friends.

pitbulllady 09-22-2007 09:51 AM

I started watching the show because of Wilt, long before Cheese was introduced, but it is the entire show-the characters, the humor, the in-jokes, the cameos by outside people/characters, the references, everything, basically-that kept me watching it. Cheese is funny, SOMETIMES, but he has the potential to be easily overused and become annoying, and he's far from my favorite character. I don't think that any one or two characters should "carry" this show.

Agreed. I'd hate for this to be the Mac and Bloo show, or the Cheese show. It's called "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends" implying that it's about imaginary friends. It's not "I Dream of Frankie", "Bloowitched", "The Wiltman" or "Eduardo's Island". XD

Related topic here, for those who missed it:

http://www.fosters-home.com/forum/showthread.php?t=727

Cheese has his uses and has had some amusing moments but I can think of several characters I like better, most of whom can be seen in the opening credits (the original version, anyway). In any case the show was fun before Cheese, and it continues to be fun without him.

ptps 09-23-2007 07:30 AM

I like Cheese, but I'll be damned if I was watching Foster's just for him. I'm more interested in how Bloo can take a totally normal day and turn it into something completely exciting/traumatic, depending on which side you're on. XD Also, Mac and Wilt. XD

jekylljuice 09-23-2007 10:54 AM

I think it would be a bit unfortunate if most viewers only tuned in in the hopes of seeing Cheese, given that he's only appeared in five or six episodes overall. If Cheese is your favourite thing about Foster's, then that's fine and dandy, though if you watch the show on a regular basis, it might be a good idea to find other things to enjoy about it, if only for your own benefit.

You forgot "Cococo-co Co-coco". ;) Though that one contains a decidedly obscure reference and doesn't roll off the tongue so easily for non-anime watchers.

I'd so watch "Eduardo's Island" though.

Topic? As has been said before, Cheese is best served as a side dish, lame pun intended. It becomes simply unsettling when his madcap antics begin to come plainly at the expense of other characters (see: "The Big Cheese" and "Cheese a Go-Go".)

Which would make Cheese limburger, eh? :cheese: I know, I need to quit with the lame puns.

Yes.
Well, no. I probably would.

Cassini90125 10-04-2007 05:54 AM

There is a Cheese plush available on eBay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ADME:B:SS:US:1

Note the disturbingly high $100.00 price tag. The plushies of the four main characters (Bloo, Wilt, Coco, Eduardo) each go for about a quarter of that. Makes me kind of sad. :(

True. However, it means nothing, if that seller doesn't get a single bid out of that. If it does, then I would completely agree that this is disturbing.

Only a Cheese fangirl n00b would buy that in that price. ::)

kageri 10-04-2007 04:00 PM

I don't think most do. Not even two thirds. Not even half. And even if they do -- well, he's really only in a few episodes, so can we even call them avid watchers of the show anyway?

One Radical Dude 10-04-2007 10:29 PM

Oh, and I seriously doubt the majority of viewers watch the show just for Cheese. If that were the case, then that would be a pretty depressing statistic to me. This series did not have him in the first season and a half. :P

No one bought it. I assume it will be relisted soon, perhaps with a more reasonable price. $100.00? For Cheese?? Thanks anyway, I'll pass. :P

Crash-N-Cortex 10-11-2007 04:43 PM

Tell me about it. I mean, who would want to sell a Cheese plushie for $100.00. I guessing people who have no money at all.

Shelltoon 10-11-2007 08:18 PM

Guess what! It's back, but this time there's a RESERVE on it! Probably still wanting to get $100...

Cassini90125 10-11-2007 11:48 PM

A set of Bloo, Wilt, Coco, and Eduardo plushies sold yesterday for a little less than $50.00. I find it difficult to accept that a Cheese plush is worth twice as much as four of the show's stars combined. That just seems so wrong to me.

Shelltoon 10-12-2007 12:27 AM

It's just ridiculous on iTunes, any episode with Cheese as the focus is popular. A lot of people on iTunes were giving it bad reviews for not being Season 2. What ever happened to episodes like Go Goo Go, Good Wilt Hunting, House of Bloo's, The Big Lablooski, Frankie My Dear, Bus the Two of Us, and Neighbor Pains for example, aren't they good episodes too? Sheesh...

Cassini90125 10-12-2007 12:33 AM

Most of those were were good episodes. I cannot understand Cheese's popularity. I mean, Mac Daddy was a classic, yeah, but the Cheese episodes were mostly all downhill from there, although Cheese A Go-Go was pretty good in my book.

WTF?? That is wrong.

If Cheese was never on Foster's, I'll understand if the four plushies combined were worth $100.00. I mean, think about it; four plushies of our favorite characters!

Lynnie 10-12-2007 08:02 PM

According to Lauren herself at her BlogSpot (and just found out, also her DA blog) "Lots o' people tell us they be luvin' Cheese" at the Con. I don't get it either. Why is he sooooo popular? He's only a "minor" character. Or, at least he use to be. I'm finding it ridiculous myself.

Cassini90125 10-12-2007 08:18 PM

He's back on eBay again, this time for only $60.00. Again, no thanks.

Kootiebirdo 10-12-2007 08:21 PM

Speaking of Cheese, I wonder how much the Fred Fredburger plushies are going for.

Zeitgheist 10-13-2007 04:39 AM

I have a few friends who ONLY watch because of Cheese, yes... most of them are my age (in their early twenties). I hate the fact that they only watch it for Cheese, but at the same time I'm thankful that they watch it at all :P I like Cheese, but he's nowhere near my favorite character. He's like GIR on Invader Zim

Ub3rD4n 10-13-2007 04:40 PM

Something about him strikes people. Even myself, after I got over being annoyed by him. I just got a bunch of friends into watching Fosters, and they love Cheese. He's by no means their only source of enjoyment, or even their favourite character (preferring Wilt, or Frankie, which I told them was "everyone's favourite"), but we do generally greet each other now with "I like chocolate milk" and "I have dermatitis".

I strongly urge you not to do that too loudly while out in public.

Lynnie 10-13-2007 07:08 PM

Haha, yeah, you've got to admit his lines are certainly memorable. I too am guilty of using Cheese lines just as often if not moreso than Bloo lines. It's just his character can get so annoying at times. I can understand why he's popular, but not why he's soooooooooo center-of-the-show popular to so many people.

One Radical Dude 10-13-2007 08:31 PM

I believe it (as far as many people at Comic-Con saying that they really loved Cheese). In a sense, it does increase the audience of the series. On the other hand, it's somewhat depressing that Cheese is the only reason anyone would watch (hopefully, it's just them saying that it's one character that's on their minds, and not the only thing they like about the show). :P

Heh, same here. I'm a tad ashamed to admit it, but I've probably deployed more Cheese quotations than any other character in the show (I once greeted some wild rabbits with the line "Hi, doggies", which went totally over my friends' heads, the Foster's-ignorant raggamuffins). I guess his quotes are just easier, because they're fairly non-sequitur in nature.

I'm certainly not saying I dislike Cheese, but I too have to shrug my shoulders in bewilderment at his overwhelming popularity. He puts me in mind of a line from Pulp Fiction, "You ARE a character. Doesn't mean you HAVE character." He can occasionally be funny, but in comparison to the other characters, he seems to be noteable for his lack of any real personality more than anything else. For such a wild card, he's kinda monotonous. :cheese:

AerostarMonk 10-14-2007 02:08 PM

My cousin is only more interested in watching a Foster's ep if Cheese is present. As for myself, I can honestly say I've never quoted him. Just never felt the need to. Though I have quoted Bloo and Mac on occasion.

I wouldn't be surprised if she and Craig are secretly thinking "You know guys, we have those other characters too..."

I mean he's funny and all (and I love how his head flaps like that of a Canadian on South Park), but tangential, irrelevant non-sequiturs can really only take a character/series so far.

Like that time I made a snide reference to a cartoon that's lived on this formula for years.

No!

I don't THink That way! i watch FHIF for bloo!8D

I watch Foster's for the heck of it, for the laughes, for the episodes, maybe for Wilt, y'know, when its on, I'll watch it, no matter what. :D

I would definitely watch Bloowitched. 8D

... and I Dream of Frankie *swoon*

I really didn't like cheese at first, and not to sound at all like Bloo's speech at the end of Macdaddy, but I have grown to like cheese. He's definitely the master of the one-liners.

Certainly not close to the only reason I watch the show, but cheese is definitely alright in small servings. :)
