Shortened intro

I just saw for the first time yesterday (7/24) the shortened intro for Foster's sans Mme. F, Frankie and Mr. H. Opinions, please?

Cassini90125 07-25-2007 04:28 PM

That's a horrible thing to do. All three are an integral part of the show, especially Frankie, and deserve to be acknowledged in the show's opening. What will they do with the 9 or 10 seconds they save? It's not even enough for a commercial. Removing them is an insult to their fans and a slap in the face to the characters. :terrence:

Little Baby IceCream 07-25-2007 05:15 PM

I don't think they should have cut the intro either! Even if it was a little longer, I still like seeing all the characters in it! If I was a little late (finishing up BFAHP in the morning) I wouldn't have to worry because of the intro.

Little Baby IceCream ;)

antgirl1 07-25-2007 05:50 PM

They did WHAT now? ? ?

Do they WANT to make us fans mad?

Lynnie 07-25-2007 06:32 PM

This really irritates me, too. I like the new animation and also the tweaked up theme song, but when I first saw it shortened, I was like "What the...?? Why??" Ugh, they didn't even edit the song very well, and you can very clearly hear that it's cut off. And I miss seeing Frankie, Madame F. (and Mac waving to her), and even Mr. H. And although I'm sure we all get that song stuck in our head for hours on end, we're so use to hearig it that way that when we suddenly hear it shortened it just feels....wrong! Ugh, I'm irritated.

The only thing I can really think of as to why CN did this is because of advertising. That 10 seconds isn't long enough for a full commercial, but it's long enough to air a 40 second commercial rather than a 30 second one. And that of course would pay more, especially in the long run. But that makes me wonder if CN is having financial problems at the moment. Or maybe they're just trying to get extra funds to do something big. I hope it's the latter.

I also wonder if it's just a "summer" thing, and they're trying to keep kids on summer break to keep watching, again without cutting commercial time. I've noticed they've been playing more shorts this summer. Maybe that's where that extra 10 seconds per eppie is going (added with the shortened intros of other shows). They're just trying to keep the ratings up, and the viewers watching.

I sure hope they revert back to the original intro once fall starts again. I'll miss the intro in the whole if they don't. Especially with the new animation and the tweaked theme. :(

WiltFan 07-25-2007 07:12 PM

Yeah, I noticed the short theme too. I hope this doesn't last too long, they cut out a lot of my favorite parts of the intro.:(

Bloofanatic 07-25-2007 10:03 PM

Awwww I hate it when they do stuff like that.

Ub3rD4n 07-25-2007 10:45 PM

Wow. That sounds like crap, you guys. Once again, I'm glad I live in New Zealand, where the networks aren't QUITE so ad-mongering.

One Radical Dude 07-26-2007 01:10 AM

What the hell?! Oh, brother. :( I have yet to see this, but I'm sure I will eventually.

Bloo2daMacs 07-26-2007 06:42 AM

Yeah, I noticed this while watching "The Big Cheese" about four days ago. I was gonna post about it on the forums, but I was lazy.

I'm pretty mad about this too. I was watching thinking "What? Wasn't there- Hey wait, it's over already?". One second it's doing the cool build-up thing, then Mac's running with Wilt, Ed, and Coco, then Bloo jumps on Mac.....

....What's up with that?!!

wiltfangirl93 07-26-2007 08:36 PM

Shortening the intro is almost like bashing this show! How could they? :'(

Crash-N-Cortex 07-27-2007 06:28 PM

I don't really like the short intro. I don't know why CN is shortening the intro in the first place.

antgirl1 07-27-2007 06:33 PM

I just saw it...WHAT THE FRUIT IS CN THINKING? ? ?

scary_dream 07-27-2007 06:57 PM

Oh no!!! I haven't seen this yet but it doesn't sound like I'll like it!!

This makes me a sad panda... :( The intro of some cartoons is just as good as the cartoon itself. For example, I was SO mad when Nickelodeon shortened the Animaniacs intro and made it say "Nickel-anie" every single time. This reminds me of that.

Subzeroace 07-27-2007 08:18 PM

... Well this sucks.

How the heck could they remove those characters from the intro..? More "Fosters Five" superiority going on here, Frankie, Madame M and Mr. H matter too!

Cassini90125 07-27-2007 08:26 PM

If CN really needs to shave 10 seconds off of every episode for some unfathomable reason what they should do is run the show at a marginally faster speed. 10 seconds out of 22 minutes? Who would notice the difference? No one, and no one would complain. Cutting out a chunk of the intro, that's something that people will notice and complain about, and this thread proves it.

Shame on you, CN. :nono:

zoton2 07-28-2007 10:30 AM

Just to note, from what I've seen, it is not shortened in the UK. So this means it must have something to do with CN in the US. Mmm... ???

NPIcartoons 07-30-2007 10:03 AM

I've seen the shortened intro. I'll make sure to record it so I can post it here. Btw, Cops show have been the same way with the shortened intro too.

Kzinistzerg 08-06-2007 07:23 AM

I actually hate the new short intro. I mean, really. It sounds really unnaturally rushed! bad!

I agree that it's unpleasant for fans of those three, but it may not have been an option. This edit could very well have been requested by CN for all we know. But yeah, it is a shame.:(

xxxClaire 08-09-2007 06:45 PM

Wow this sounds terrible! :( I haven't seen the shortend intro yet but it still really bothers me that they'd do that! Seriously 10 seconds isn't gonna change anything! :frankiemad:

Crash-N-Cortex 08-09-2007 06:56 PM

Has anyone tried to e-mail to CN to ask why they shortened the Foster's intro?

antgirl1 08-11-2007 01:23 PM

No point in doing it. CN's "too big of a company" to deal with e-Mail.

You'll most likely get a cookie-cutter response of "Thank you for your concerns, we will take your advice into consideration. Thank you." As much as that sucks, that's how ALL FORMS of customer service usually work.

fostersfan666 08-11-2007 05:38 PM

Hi there!

Yeah, I have seen the shortened opening. Since the begining of "Foster's" (which is how long i've been watching), during the theme song I do this little, crazy dance that fits in with the music. The morning I watched the shortened opening, not only I had to do the dance faster than before but I noticed that there were parts missing.

I liked the longer opening better. And I agree, it does sound unnaturally rushed. It just doesn't sound right.

CG 08-12-2007 01:03 AM

I'd be interested in seeing this shortened intro. Anyone know where I can find it?

One Radical Dude 08-12-2007 06:39 PM

I gotta wonder why this show is the only one to get the shorter introduction treatment, and the other CN originals do not. Part of me is hoping it's just a summertime thing, but the rest has this feeling that it'll be permanent.

idril 08-12-2007 07:52 PM

i was preparing food for the dogs and had my back turned from the TV, and noticed that they left out a pretty good chunk of the theme song. a feeling of 'o i see what u did there' came over me.

i think its all to make room for more commercials and such. 10 seconds may not feel like a lot, but when they also cut time out of other commercials, cutting out bits and pieces here and there, it adds up just enough to squeeze in another commercial, which means more money for them. :[

but i dont think writing them a letter to ask would do much good, theyre a big big company and probably only .3% (totally made that percentage up) of their emails actually get replies.

idk. the whole shortening thing doesnt bother me much though.

Ub3rD4n 08-12-2007 10:51 PM

Y'know, I only just thought of this, but Fosters has the greatest intro to any CN cartoon I've ever seen. And that's including The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy one, which rocks out loud. This is probably why this thing bugs me so much, even though I don't even have to put up with it.

LaBloo 08-14-2007 04:54 PM

I Felt That It Hurts A Little Bit Of The Foster's Nature. What A Shame of doind that.

Invader Bloo 08-14-2007 07:00 PM

Always for the mThis is really gay. Even the old episodes are shortened.
Always for the money huh CN? :terrence:

The old episodes shortened; how?

Lynnie 08-19-2007 07:47 PM

He's probably referring to the shortened intro "introducing" the old eppies as well as the new ones. I remember shortly after they shortened the intro, I would see the shortened intro and think the eppie just starting must be one of the new ones because it had the new intro. But nope. All the reruns, from all seasons, now have the new shortened intro. Grrrrr.... :jk:

lucyrocks73 08-20-2007 04:01 AM

(*gasps*)

How could they?

That's ridiculous. It's also ridiculous that I just noticed that (I haven't had time to watch TV in forever...)

-Marty :goo:

LaBlooGirl 08-28-2007 02:21 PM

Yeah I was annoyed by it too. Simply because the theme song rocks and it's a SIN to be shortening it. Sometimes I hate those money-grubbing people who own these networks....but on a softer note, if it was a choice between the theme song being shortened or losing the series altogether, I'd choose the shorter song in a heartbeat....

taranchula 08-28-2007 02:24 PM

I'd rather take a shorter intro, then having the network cut out any part of the show make room for more commercials. Now THAT would be bad.

Amen to that. That would really reek.

Just have to PRAY that it doesn't happen.

Yuck... That would suck so bad!

Lynnie 08-28-2007 05:23 PM

Yeah, we really should count our blessings. I don't watch the show so I don't know the details, but I heard that they have been cutting a few seconds out of EE&E, I guess when the show first starts. I've been wondering if they've been doing the same thing to other shows that play on Turner owned networks.
