Cavemen show

The Cavemen from the Geico commercials may get their own show:
http://home.bellsouth.net/s/editoria...ertainment&ck=

I like those commercials.

Cassini90125 03-03-2007 07:15 AM

(Is momentarily stunned) Uh... Not the worst idea I've ever heard. If it gets on the air I'll tune in.

Medikor 03-03-2007 08:01 AM

Sounds promising. But I think the Geico Geco would make for a better show.;)

Quite surprising indeed.

It would be more surprising if the show did well (and I'm saying that as a good thing).:)

Imaginary Light 03-03-2007 09:35 AM

Hm. Interesting. I think I have to give this show a look when and if it comes out.

He might make make cameos.

One Radical Dude 03-03-2007 01:57 PM

Am I the only one to think WTH ABC was thinking, when this idea came up? I love the GEICO ads, but this? I dunno, well see. :P

Sorry but if you ask me that IS the worst idea I've ever heard, and I have to ask myself: who in the hell would pay money to see a show like this made?

I just really can't begin to express how bizarre and very stupid this show sounds, personally.

I can definitely think of one idea that's far, far worse, but there's no need to bring him up again. 8D

If the show is done well, which admittedly isn't likely, it might be worth a look. I don't imagine that it will last more than half a season, if it gets on the air at all, but I still think it's worth checking out, just to see how ridiculous it is. After all, it can't be worse than The Simple Life.

Mr. Marshmallow 03-03-2007 02:39 PM

Well if you wait long enough, you never know what vile idea may be turned into a TV show. I admit I watch TV more so then I did when I was younger, but some of these ideas on TV are so stupid, you wonder who was smoking crack when they green lit ideas like this.

I never even found the Caveman funny in the commercials. Just wait, the Geico Gecko will get his own show soon enough.

I'd watch that, too. It would be fine Shakespearian comedy compared to a lot of the garbage that passes for entertainment these days. There's better stuff written in the Spam section. 8D

scary_dream 03-03-2007 04:47 PM

I just hope that it isn't one big thinly-veiled Geico commercial... Subliminal advertising!! AHH!!

I'd give it a try as long as "Geico" wasn't every other word. 8D

I also hope this doesn't spark a trend of new TV shows based on commercials... I don't think I could handle hearing "We now return to Monistat: The Beginning"

Cassini90125 03-03-2007 04:56 PM

Or how about "Ronald and the King", about two fast-food icons working as private detectives? 8D

Now, now, don't give me nightmares. :wiltshock:

Seriously, that BK King scares the heck out of me. And Ronald McDonald is creepy in the way that anyone who wears that much clown make-up is inevitably going to be.

Invader Bloo 03-04-2007 07:18 AM

The BK King is gay, I'd tell further but it isn't kid friendly.
It can'rtbe worse than Zoey 101 or Unfabulous or Danny Phantom.

I want an Aflak Duck show!

scary_dream 03-04-2007 02:39 PM

Who knows? They could make a show of the King.... they've already made terrible video games about him.

Fast food video games aren't even THAT bad, but they have to be fun (something that the King games are not)... I mean, I used to play McKids CONSTANTLY when I was young.

Howard 03-05-2007 07:41 AM

Keep the cavemen as commercial shorts. Don't give them a show - it will ruin everything.:wiltshock:

Partymember 03-05-2007 03:07 PM

"does switching to Geico make me any less of a caveman?"

Voxxyn 03-07-2007 08:10 AM

If we're lucky, we'll get a Rozerem sitcom starring a beaver, a deep-sea diver and Abraham Lincoln.

Medikor 03-07-2007 08:44 AM

The two Bell beavers, Gordan and Frank, would make a great sitcom!:D

taranchula 03-07-2007 11:41 AM

I would only watch if This was the theme song. 8D

One Radical Dude 03-07-2007 11:54 AM

Heh heh heh. 8D

Plz to be picking a better adjective.

Even aside from the mask, any mascot who appears in peoples' beds and wordlessly hands them sandwiches when they wake up is going to be creepy.

You DO realise that that is a distinct possibility, right?

taranchula 03-07-2007 08:07 PM

Oh yes, and it would be even sweeter if they did in fact use the David Hasslehoff cover version, from that video link I posted. Ever more sweeter if David Hasslehoff was a regular guest star, like he could be the Cavemen's wacky neighbor or something. Then I would watch every week and the summer reruns too.

That's cool. I approve.

emperor26 05-15-2007 04:29 PM

It's official!

The Cavemen show is greenlit by none other than the ABC network.

Expect this show to air this fall.

some guy you dont know 05-15-2007 04:35 PM

sweet. cant wait to see it.

oh, and that would be an awsome theme to it, taranchula.

Invader Bloo 05-16-2007 11:06 AM

I'll watch the first episode.
I still want the Aflak Duck show!

Cassini90125 05-16-2007 11:11 AM

Maybe he could be the cavemen's dinner pet. 8D

The show may be interesting at first, but I doubt it will last very long. I'll watch, but I don't have verey high expectations for it.

Now, THAT could be a show I could get into! :P

Invader Bloo 05-16-2007 05:43 PM

Every other line would be Aflak. 8D
(Assuming there's other characters)

Nyo 05-16-2007 06:11 PM

Yes, the Aflack Duck should get his show.

AerostarMonk 05-24-2007 10:07 PM

Well, I'm mildly upset that none of the people from the commercials will be reprising their roles. Such as Ben Weber, who was too busy playing Ted Sprague on Heroes to be in Cavemen. It's basically like he was screwed out of the role due to scheduling.

However, Johnson, the loud eater from the Rasin Bran Crunch commercials, will be playing a Caveman. From what I've seen in the Crunch commercials he has a great sense for timing. I only know that he's in it because my friend happens to be his cousin. But I found it to be an interesting fact.

The pilot has been getting horrible reviews all over the place. Though it was picked up in favor of a sitcom from Arrested Development creator, Mitch Hurwitz. But there's still 3 months until the show actually airs, so anything can happen.

The show has potential to be very funny if it continues to use the premise of the absurdity of politcal correctness However, I wonder how far that premise can stretch before wearing out its welcome.

Sparky 10-02-2007 06:44 PM

Where I am (PST) this show is premiering in 15 minutes. I guess I'll watch it.

Sparky 10-02-2007 07:36 PM

Yuppie cavemen with dating issues. Yeah not really my bag, lol. I probably won't tune in again.

Cassini90125 10-02-2007 07:42 PM

What, no gecko? 8D

Sparky 10-02-2007 07:45 PM

No. Nor was the themesong the one we thought it would be. ;) As I recall there wasn't a themesong, just some spoken exposition by one of the characters explaining the premise.

Cassini90125 10-02-2007 07:48 PM

No theme song? Bleh, I hate when shows do that. :P

Tell me there were no Geico commercials so I can go to bed in a semi-happy mood.
