Also, the rest of the 4th Floor is opened - 3 rooms to the north and 3 rooms to the south. :bloogrin

I opened up Kung Fu Forest, and I'll type up a Tip sheet on that when I get back this afternoon. It's pretty easy to get all the prizes, once you get the hang of the game.

You get:

2 Wilt Pics
3 Coco Pics
Angler Fish Lamp
Fishing Poster
Starfish Dresser

Schooled is like Q-burt
to kill the bad things,
stand on a book,
wait till they are next to you
then jump off the book as they start to jump, (just make sure you jump in a free direction)

Make sure you get all the books connected in a strait line from the bookmarked book to the same color as the bookmark before getting the bookmark.

Do not worry about getting the extra points for killing enemies in the early levels because there will be pleanty of oportunities for this in the latter levels.

List of collectables and score needed:
Schooled

Japanese Wall: Earthquake-proof
Paper Lamp: Add some character to your light

Thanks for updating Vicki & Monty! I haven't been to the 4th floor only to pick up something for Bloo.

Okay here's my stab at a tip sheet to help some of you out in this game. It's pretty easy once you get the hang of it, so it shouldn't be too hard to get all the prizes. After a few initial tries, and I was used to the game, I easily got to over Level 30, and only quit because I had to go. lol I can't remember the points, but it was over 3000, I'm sure. It's been reported you need 900 to get all the prizes.

Basically, in this game you need to raise the banners that are high on certain cliffs. There are some baddies that look like cacti, who throw ninja stars at you. There are two kinds - a stationary one, who throws green ninja stars, and a mobile one, who jumps around and throws black ninja stars, like you throw at him.

The key is to kill all the baddies FIRST, and then go get the banners. I suggest you get all the moving guys first. They will shoot at you if you are in their line of sight. Sometimes they will drop a shield, and you can use that when you go after the guys who just stand there. This makes it much easier. You can stand underneath the guys who stand there, but they can shoot straight down, so be careful. Usually, they just shoot at an angle toward you.

If you shoot at a baddie as he's shooting you, your ninja stars will cancel each other out. Rapid fire is key here, because they can only shoot so fast. Just blast them and as soon as you get a shield, get it and go get the stationary guys.

Once you have killed all the baddies, and picked up their prizes, go after all the banners. There's going to be anywhere from 1 to about 5 or so. Unlike bedtime bedlam, you'll have plenty of time to get all the baddies, their prizes and then get the banners.

Also, once you kill a baddie in a level, he's gone. So if you happen to die, only the ones that were left show up again. So that's good. I also noticed that around Level 20 +/- the layouts started to repeat randomly.

Important things to pick up -
Potion - 20 points (since each banner only gives you 20 pts, these are key to getting your score up faster)
Silver Medallion - Extra Life (once you get the hang of the game, you probably won't need them as much, but stock up. They are common, so it's easy to keep going in this game)
Shield - Invincibility (a definite must in helping get the baddies. Once you get one, go knock them all out, then worry about the prizes and banners later. Unless you fall off cliffs, you should have plenty of time)

I got to at least Level 32 and I never did see Jump Higher or the Super Ninja Star, so I assume these are for Levels 2 and 3 of the game. You can also get an hour glass, but I never really "needed" them.

Anyway, that's all I can think of at the moment. I hope this helps! :bloogrin

Unlocked Level 2 of Kung Fu Forest today!

It's basically the same as Level one, except now you walk to the right, as the scenery changes, and jump over areas of water. Be careful, because there are fish that jump out and they will kill you if you touch them. You can shoot them, but they will come back after a while, so work fast!

Also, the Super Ninja Star is added to the game. You get it from a baddie after shooting them. It allows you to shoot your star straight across, upwards and downwards at angles. It doesn't last too long (like the speedy shoes in other games), so work fast!

Also, the Silver Medallion for extra lives are fewer than in Level 1, so be careful!

It's about 1,100 points to get all the prizes. They are:
2 Wit pics
2 Coco pics
Bamboo Hat: Keep away from pandas.
Seaweed Window: Kelp yourself.
Jellyfish Lamp: Watch out for the tentacles!
Ocean Floor: Like water, but less watery.

I love the Kung-Fu Forest game. I receive over 4,000 points (I could have done better, if it weren't for certain distractions). Oh, well.

Marley 01-12-2007 02:32 PM

My two cents about Kung Fu Forest:

If you jump the baddies, they get stunned, giving you ample time to shoot them without fear of them shooting back at you. This works for BOTH jumpy and stationary guys. It helps sometimes when you have a bunch of really hyper ones that won't stay in your line of fire. Also, you don't get killed if you run into them, you just bounce off. But be careful! I once got bounced off right into another one's spit. :)

One other thing... when you get a shield, take the opportunity to make sure all the cacti are gone. There may be one hiding on a higher level that you can't see from the ground. Once you're sure they're all gone, THEN go for the flags, and by that time, your shield won't matter.

I like this game. It's nice to get 20 points for raising a flag instead of 5 like so many of the other games.

In Kung Fu Forest:
another thing you can use as advantage, is that, when the stationary one shoots, he needs time to shoot once again. So, be sure he doesn't hit you and then, if you hurry up, you can take him without problem.
This help me a lot in 1st level, I didn't see the 2nd level but, well, I hope this help.:D

Vicks 01-12-2007 07:49 PM

In Level 3 Bloo is now there and he does super jumps. You get +5 for shooting him. The cliffs or whatever you want to call them are even higher still. You get the super jump, from some baddies, but you can get to any height without it.

I suggest you shoot move, then shoot a bunch, as Bloo has a fast and high jump to him. I think it took me to Level 20 to get all the prizes.

I really like the "Kung Foo Forest" game. :bloogrin

I find "Schooled" terribly boring to play! It goes on forever as you only get 1 point (or 2 points) per book. :P

montitech 01-29-2007 05:18 AM

Schooled out, is like qBert, but I Acctually enjoyed schooled out better. yes you only get one point per book, however there are ways to get more points.

When you get a bookmark with lots of books surrounding it. (Grade of A++) has a lot of points. also killing multiple baddies at the same time gives a good multiplyer. naturally as you get farther you get more points per board. and the pages need to be flipped more times to get to yerllow. typically to get the High score (Arround 1200 points) I need to get up to a couple of boards into the three color books. this takes about a half hour. (unless you have to start over.)

I haven't figured out how to get higher than a B with the bookmarks. I'm not entirely sure I understand what to do. Any tips?

I loved Q-Bert, but was never 'good' at it. This game was okay - far easier than Q-Bert ever was for me. I just did it and got it out of the way so I wouldn't have to deal with it later. 8D

montitech 01-30-2007 06:01 AM

it is random, so sometimes you cannot get a good grad,

The bookmark is a particular color,
get all the books adjacent to bookmarked book to that color before getting the book with the bookmark. the more ajacent books the better the grade, and the more points you get.

for example, if you have the bookmark of yellow with two books above it and one bellow it. then get the three surrounding books yellow before getting the bookmarked book.

if there is a strait line of books next to the bookmark and you do not get one of them in the middle then you will only get credit for the books closest to the bookmark that are the correct collor.

I hope that helped

Not sure how to get the baddies. I've stuck them with glue & the odd time they hop on a book I've opened. Thanks for your all your great tips, Monty!

thats how you get them, when they jump on flipping books.

you get them by standing on a book, and wait for them to get next to you, then right before they jump on you, jump off the book, and they land on the flipping book and die.

Also the Wirlwind flips all the books at once, even the ones that are already yellow
