Top Five Albums?

After very careful consideration and deliberation, i produced the following list in no particular order, mind you.

After Bathing At Baxter's- Jefferson Airplane
Wake of The Flood- The Grateful Dead
The White Album- The Beatles
The Runic Album (AKA LZ 4)- Led Zeppelin
Their Satanic Majesty's Request- The Rolling Stones

that took a VERY LONG TIME to get together, what's yours?

Howard 12-08-2006 10:26 AM

1. Kind of Blue - Miles Davis
2. A Love Supreme - John Coltrane
3. Aftermath - Rolling Stones
4. White Album - Beatles
5. Court of the Crimson King - King Crimson:frankiesmile:

Don't think the numbered order means anything because it doesn't, I always have trouble picking ones so I figured screw it and put em up anyway. Here's my fav. 5 albums:

1.The Black Parade - My Chemical Romance
2. We don't need to whisper - Angels and Airwaves
3. Hellbilly Deluxe - Rob Zombie
4. Chuck - Sum 41
5. American Idiot - Green Day

Jabberwocky 12-08-2006 03:22 PM

1. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars -- David Bowie :bloocross:
2. Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band -- The Beatles
3. Coquelicot Asleep in the Poppies -- Of Montreal
4. Low Budget -- The Kinks
5. Night At The Opera -- Queen

That was hard. They're not in any particular order. Except the first one. That is my favorite album by anyone, ever.

billytheskink 12-08-2006 04:33 PM

Freeze Frame - The J. Geils Band
Magical Mystery Tour - The Beatles
"Weird Al" Yankovic - "Weird Al" Yankovic
All Meat, No Filler - The Fat Boys
Polka Party! - "Weird Al" Yankovic

Voxxyn 12-08-2006 05:00 PM

OK Computer by Radiohead
Elephant by The White Stripes
Turn on the Bright Lights by Interpol
Urban Hymns by The Verve
Black Holes and Revelations by Muse

Not my picks for "best albums" ever, just my current favorites, so please don't kill me. :macwor:

SUCH a hard question! Especially considering the very impressive choices everyone has made here already :D Cool music guys!

In no particular order... (except the first one 8D )
1. Dark Side Of The Moon - Pink Floyd
---The best album ever made, I think! For incredible lyrics, variety, and earth-shattering instrumentation....I just can't describe it without sounding stupid and clichéd! :P

2. Discovery - Daft Punk
---Pretty much the most colorful, happy, melodious electonic album I know. Always gets me in a great mood! They also made an amazing anime film with this as the soundtrack - called Interstella 55555 - really unique cartoon.

3. The Orb's Adventures Beyond The Ultraworld - Orb
---A two-disc journey into deep space - ambient joy!

4. The Universal Migrator Part I : The Dream Sequencer - Aryeon
---Epic, synth-ridden progressive album, with a great story. The last man alive attempts to escape his lonliness and pain by entering a virtual-reality trip into the past, and into his dreams..

5. King For A Day, Fool For A Lifetime - Faith No More
---If I had to pick an album from them (one of my favorite bands), I think this has the most variety and punch...although Angel Dust is pretty close

With very honorable mentions to California by Mr. Bungle, Kid A and OK Computer by Radiohead.....

Sorry for long post, I'm bored :gooblab:

montitech 12-08-2006 08:49 PM

Ummagumma - Pink Floyd
Weird Scenes Inside The Goldmine - Doors
The Baddest of George Thorogood and the Destroyers
The Ring of the Nibelung - Wagner (My one year old really did NOT like Ride of the Valkyries)
Adom Heart Mother - Pink Floyd

MOnty :-/

Partymember 12-08-2006 08:54 PM

Wagner fan!!!!!!! YES! I love Wagner, i hope to see the operas on stage someday!

BTW, poor kid! Die Walkure is scary for me, sometimes. You have to really be into it at the time, helps to be in an........"altered state". You dig?

Nathander 12-10-2006 05:09 PM

Here are mine, in no particular order:

Aqualung, Jethro Tull
Tommy, The Who
Dark Side of the Moon, Pink Floyd
The White Album, The Beatles
The Black Album, Metallica

Sievers 02-21-2007 05:18 AM

Kiss of death - Motorhead
march or die - Motorhead
Rodeo Radio - The Bosshoss
Eliminator - ZZ Top
Blah Blah Blah - Iggy Pop

jekylljuice 02-21-2007 07:52 AM

These are mine. Again, no particular order:

Us - Peter Gabriel (1992)
Very - Pet Shop Boys (1993)
Mysterious Traveller - Weather Report (1974)
Songs from the Big Chair - Tears for Fears (1985)
Magical Mystery Tour - the Beatles* (1967)

Honorable mention goes to Human's Lib by Howard Jones, Nothing Like the Sun by Sting, How to be a...Zillionaire by ABC, Millennium by Backstreet Boys, Romantic Warrior by Return to Forever, Tapestry by Carole King, Spirit Trail by Bruce Hornsby, plus every single other Peter Gabriel album you care to mention. (My favourites do tend to rotate a lot, also.)

*(You rarely see this particular Beatles album turning up in many “best of” lists, which I think has something to do with the film it was associated with being less than well-received. But really, this is a great collection of some of the finest (not to say most famous) Beatles songs, including I am the Walrus, All you need is love, and the glorious Strawberry Fields Forever.)

Partymember 02-21-2007 08:43 AM

great album, it always looked cheap, though. The music is very good on any Beatle's album.

Partymember 02-21-2007 09:46 AM

i really love Jefferson Airplane's stuff. They do such a good job. The first six albums and then the Kantner/Slick breakaway stuff like "Sunfighter" and "Baron VonTollbooth and the Chrome Nun" are really, really, good albums. Once they hit Starship though, forget it.

Jabberwocky 02-21-2007 11:30 AM

"Their Stanic Majesties Request" is so underrated. I've got it on vinyl. Blows my MIND!

Well, I admit that the packaging probably would have terrified me at the age of 7. I give Seargent Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band the most points for cover artwork.

Angel Dust--Faith No More
Scenes From A Memory--Dream Theater
Powerslave--Iron Maiden
