I recently got an email from an anonymous Yahoo email like this:

"Download Today!

Ringtones, Ringtones, Ringtones!

Get Ringtones Instantly!

Lady GaGa Ringtones!

They're Everyone's Favorites!

Get Them For FREE!

(link removed)"

I actually clicked on the link, and it had no sign to actually buy ringtones and tried to talk me into buying some service for $19.99/month. No thanks.

BTW I don't want any GaGa ringtones.

The user has nothing in her gallery, no faves, and couldn't even be bothered to upload an avatar. I'm guessing she's not an artist. :bloocross:

I've gotten reports from various users on my KaBlam! forum that they recieved that in a PM. Because the user didn't post anything on the site and hardly went on, I banned the user.

One of the admins who recieved it said that it looked like some prank a preteen girl and her friends would do during a slumber party (which would invlove Justin Bieber and Twilight)

I don't know if this is a scam (though it could be) I just wanted to post it somewhere because it blew me away. I just got this email:

People should learn that when it comes to the internet, you can be anyone. I see so many folks giving their personal details to everybody without even thinking of the risks.

Everybody is being fooled by those social communities. I mean Facebook looks okay. But you never know what's behind it.

I want so bad to tell the e-mailers that I have an inheritance or windfall from somewhere I've never heard about that I was born in the afternoon, just not yesterday afternoon. But discretion (a.k.a. the "delete" button) is the better part of valor.
