New year, so it's time to dust off one of my favorite threads.

Then I began to think... well what if Frankie was a boy instead of a girl. Basically with the same personailty and everything, but was just a boy... or maybe if Frankie had a brother... Anyway, I was sitting here and I thought Frankie would actually make a cute boy. I mean... I love redheads... So... here's hoping Frankie's long lost brother suddenly appears.

I hesitate to say this but I can change the gender of her Sim if you'd like to see that. I make no guarantees on what the result will look like, however. Could be pretty scary. :-/

You know, I found that as well late last year and I'm not sure why. I mean, she's still the same character I knew in the 90's but still... I don't know, maybe I'm just happy to see the Scouts again after so long. Great characters, and a great show. :)

Well, if we're throwing videogame characters into the mix, then I have to mention Amanda Blue and Sarah Sussman from my Sims 2 game. Amanda is beyond gorgeous in my book and she's a lot of fun to spend time with; smart (for a Sim, anyway), energetic, usually nice but doesn't put up with any crap from the other Sims, and like Frankie she's adorable when she loses her temper. As for Sarah... well, if there was no Frankie... :-*

I also think about what they would say to me because in a weird way, I think about how they would think of me or speak about me. I usually don't care what other people think about me. I am content with who I am, what my interests are and I have no desire to change for anyone other then myself. But hearing Jupiter or Mahoro or other toons speak highly of me, to hear their voices say those words, it would mean so much to me. Pardon my sappiness.

Sappy or not, I do the same dang thing. During quiet times I love to let my mind wander and imagine what it would be like to go out to dinner with my favorite redhead. I think about what we'd wear, I think about what flowers to get her, where we'd end up dining, what we'd order, what we'd talk about, all the little details that make an evening special. Do we go to a movie after dinner? If so, what do we see? Maybe it's a nice evening outside so we forego the theater and go for a stroll in the park. And I imagine how incredibly nervous I would be at the end of the evening, wondering if there's going to be a magical moment at the front door to Foster's when I take her home. It's my fantasy so there usually is... and often there's a moment of embarrassment when we hear a round of applause and realize that the rest of the cast has been spying on us from a nearby window. 8D But in the end, as long as she's had a great night out and I've made her smile, it's worth all the effort. Hopeless romantic? Y'all bet I am, and I'll never change. :-*

Mr. Marshmallow 01-04-2009 11:24 AM

Heh did you see my title below my name Cass, I'm a Hopeless romantic myself :D a not-so-hopeless romantic actually because ever since I've been lucky enough to find myself such a wonderful girlfriend, I've had a greater appreciation for love, romance, dreams, and all that other good stuff and starting 0n Feb. 17th, me and my girlfriend will have been together for one full year!

Its gone by so fast. Anywho, despite my fact being a now one woman show, I still have my dreams and fuzzy thoughts about animated crushed and girls of that nature. Which is funny because I always feared I would crush on girls (animated or RL) simply by their looks and not care too much about their inner beauty but that is thankfully not the case.

I don't have a single animated crush on a girl who has a personality that i find rude, distasteful or hateful like say Naga the white serpent from Slayers. Sure she's half naked and got a great body, but her attitude and her obnoxious nature just automatically turns me right off. Even tho she can be a bit testy at times, another red head (aside from Frankie) i like is Lina Inverse, also from Slayers.

I love characters who have great inner beauty, I think it even surpasses pure physical attraction with most of my animated crushes. Which is why I felt so drawn to Frankie because she has such a pure inner beauty, similar to Belldandy from Ah My goddess who is not only absolutely gorgeous but has a pure spirit with no hate or ill will directed towards anyone.

I have recently been watching "Flights of fancy" the second season to ah My Goddess and man its such a heart felt piece of work, it really makes you respect love and admire its beauty. Belldandy is such a gorgeous character and the main character is such a lucky guy to have landed a girl like her.

Hey Herrimanwashere, I am just curious as to what you mean by fan girlism with those names?

I'm just a little bit confused on what you mean by crushes versus fangirlisms in each list.

Ah yes, sorry!
By "fangirlism" I mean that I like the character a lot, so much that another could confuse it as a crush. But it's more like you imagine yourself as one of their groupies, and never had the thought of "dating" them. That's why I put my female toons in there. It's my fangirlism about the chicks that make my family joke around and say that I'm "gay". That, and I tend to get mesmirized by beautiful woman. Not attraction, but the artistic part of my brain comes and says "I want to draw them, so pretty..." (Which is why I reeeeaally like Frankie and Shego)

Hi HWM,

I was confused too by the terminology. The above reply makes it a lot clearer, and actually that is a better way to catagorize it. For me - it is Frankie and her variants (IF Frankie, and Miss Amy)

HerrimanWasHere 01-11-2009 12:27 PM

I just thought it would make sense to put down both. It shows a little more about me.

Sama-chan 01-11-2009 01:26 PM

I dont have any now, but I had some when I was little

Mimi from Digimon

Sailor Jupiter from Sailer Moon

I think thats it...

Cassini90125 01-11-2009 01:35 PM

Yeah, definitely Sailor Jupiter. Lita was a real sweetheart; she had more class, was more attractive, and was better company than virtually any animated woman on TV both then and now. Heck of a lady.

Mr. Marshmallow 01-14-2009 09:32 PM

I've stated several times as well as Cass has about my undying love for Lita/Jupiter so all I will say is I agree with everything said about her ^^. I love Jupiter, Frankie, Fifi La Fume, Bunnie Rabbot, Gadget Hackwrench but a new one I wanted to also bring up was another animated southern bell, X-men's Rogue.

More specifically, the one from the 90's X-men series and not the god awful "Evolution" series or the whimpy whispy one from the movies. I loved Rogue and thought not only was she drop dead gorgeous but was supremely powerful, has one of my dream desired powers (flight) and has that adorable southern accent.

Something about toons with southern accents always seems to tug at my heart strings.

Check out the episode "Lightspeed", one of the best episodes in the whole series if you ask me. Kid Flash was kick ass and it's thanks to him and this episode Jinx landed into my cartoon crush patch.

I just recently watched this episode on YouTube, and I did really enjoyed it (Billy Numerous was just ROFL!), and while Jinx has joined my list of favourites, I'm still curious as to how she got to be one of your favourites.

Mr. Marshmallow 03-21-2009 03:23 PM

Well I always liked Jinx, I loved her appearance and liked how her powers were unique and more diverse then the simplistic trappings of Gizmo and Mammoth being only bound by brains and brawn. I felt bad because they rarely showed the trio only Gizmo who appeared on his own a lot and so Jinx was barely ever seen.

However once we got to see her more, more of personality and attitude became more apparent and I was able to like her more. She became a favorite of mine after the "Lightspeed" episode because the whole deal with Kid Flash trying to turn her good and exploiting her personality issues made her appear more in depth and deeper as a character and her appeal for me increased.

Lately, I've been rewatching one of my older toon crushes, Kari kamiya from Digimon (season 2 version of course).

Mr_Bloo_Veins 05-02-2009 09:03 AM

My girlfriend used to have a huge crush on Minotoro from Mucha Lucha.

Major Abbey 06-26-2009 08:58 AM

-the Old Green Grasshopper, from "James and the Giant peach". I was about six, I think. I'm not that interested in him anymore, but when I was younger...

- Reverend Lovejoy ("the Simpsons). I loved this guy for most of my teen years. I'm not that interested in him anymore, though; probably because I've moved on to...

- Major Mint ("Barbie in the Nutcracker"). Yeah, I know; they're my guilty pleasure movies. And I just think Major Mint is a great character; and I don't think he's that bad-looking, to be honest. Here's a picture of him:
http://museum.enchanted-rose.org/pic...racker_047.jpg
(I think my fondness for Mr Herriman may have something to do with this)

Other characters I've liked over the years include Manny ("A Bug's Life"), Mayor Turkey Lurkey ("Chicken Little") and Master Crane ("Kung Fu Panda"). I love them as characters, but I've never had crushes on them. Maybe it's because they're animals or something...

Imaginary Ninja 06-29-2009 08:31 AM

My very first crush was on Optimus Prime back in the 80s. Even today, I still think of him as my first love. I still love him, really.:blooxd:

Other notable crushes, in no particular order:

Justin from Secret of Nimh. Wow, he was handsome, with that rakish grin of his. He made Mrs. Brisby almost forget she had been married, heh.

Megavolt from Darkwing Duck. :jk: Don't ask me why I fell for a dorky electric rodent-guy with the voice of Krusty the Klown.

Brooklyn from Gargoyles. He was complex and attractive, and kind of reserved. But he also had this fun, wild side. Plus, he wasn't a complete drag.

Adam from Beetlejuice (movie). Technically human, but dead now, so, like, a former-human. He was so cute in those glasses! Funny thing is, I don't crush on Baldwin anywhere else, except when he played Adam.

Nergal from Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. Yeah, this dapper fellow was a monster with sharp teeth and tentacles, but he was lonely, and later showed himself to be a loving husband and father. Plus, I'm perverted. :blooxd:

Haku from Spirited Away. He takes the form of a young boy, but is actually a dragon/river spirit and possibly centuries old. Still kind of weird to me that I crush on him like that, but I can't help it!

Vivi from Final Fantasy IX. Purely platonic of course, since he's just a kid, so I call him a "Woobie crush", where I just love him to pieces, but it's not a romantic thing. He was so awesomely developed a character, full of pathos and maturity beyond his years.

And Mac, same as Vivi, due to his age. Mac has the dubious honor of being the only truly human guy here, with no wierdness whatsoever, haha. I would love a son like Mac, so smart and kind you just want to hug him and never let go! And, hey, if he were grown up, I wouldn't turn him down for a date. :)

And, Girl Crushes. I'm a straight gal, but these girls rocked my socks:

Flora from Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors. I started drawing by drawing her, I was obsessed with her. The fact that she was a plant in human form blew my little mind.

Cleo from Heathcliff. I wanted to be her so bad, because she wore legwarmers and could do the splits. This was during my kinda-wanna-be-a-cheerleader phase.

Lydia from Beetlejuice. She ignited that feminist spark in me that girls need not be portrayed as over-sexualized, shadows or copies of male characters, or slathered in pink. Plus, she was super cool.

Helen Parr from the Incredibles. I just watched it last night, and I just ADORE Helen! She's smart, strong, and everything a woman could want in a kickass super heroine! The fact that she's a stay-at-home mom in no way diminishes her coolness. Plus, the relationship between her and her husband is charged wih a maturity and sexuality (not in a dirty way, though) that an adult woman like myself can appreciate.

I'm with you on that. I never thought of it as a "crush" per say, but I have some maternal feelings toward the little guy. And in turn developed "big-sisterly" feelings toward his voice actor. He's my favorite character. :)

My Woobie Crushes are...like a big fuzzy marshmallow. Like I just wanna squeeze Mac, he's so adorable. I love everything he says and does, he's so cuuute. Nothing romantic, not to worry. 8-) But I count them among "crushes" because aside from the romantic part, I feel just as strongly about them and "fangirly" if you will.

It was SO weird, for years and years I couldn't recall the name of that show and none of my family ever remembered it, even my brother, who would have. But I distinctly recalled vivid details from it, no one else did! I started to think that maybe I really did imagine it or something, until I found it completely by accident on a retro website. I was all YES! IT EXISTS! I'M NOT CRAZY.

She is cute looking, I have to say. During the episode, it made me wonder how she'd ever put up with how DUMB Gizmo, Mammoth, Eye-Sore and Billy Numerous (in particular) can be. Although, I gotta laugh at Jinx's expression after she 'accidentally' destroyed her room while chasing Kid Flash. 8D

Having just recently watched Season 1 of Avatar: The Last Airbender, I can now add Katara to my list of favourites. She's SUCH a caring girl. She's also smart and just a great sight to look at. I also love just how much she really cares for Aang. She's a really lovely girl, who's not afraid to fight.

Okay, I've been wanting to get this off my chest for a while, so if you don't like long posts (like Mr M's), then you may want to avoid this. If this doesn't fit into this thread, feel free to delete it. The reason I'm explaining this is to introduce another of my favourite crushes, one that actually showed me that animated girls can be as fun, engaging and believable as animated boys...

Jessie, the Yodeling Cowgirl from Toy Story 2
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...oy_Story_2.jpg

If it wasn't for this young enduring girl, I wouldn't have become the cartoon crusher that I am today. Especially after the When She Loved Me sequence. I remember loving her so much after seeing Toy Story 2, that any other female character that I came across I immediately wanted some sort of episode where that character would really shine! Mind you, I was about 13 years old when Toy Story 2 came out, and I've changed a lot since then. But the one thing that never changed was the enduring love that I have for Jessie, and how it was her that showed me that animated women are just as fun as animated men.

And I can definitely say that this still applies to the redhead we all know and love. :-*

Thank you, Jessie. Without you, I wouldn't have known Frankie, or even any of my favourite animated girls let alone Frankie, at all. *blows kiss to Jessie*

Seconded. Lydia was a sweet goth kid who was creative to boot. The very final episode The Chromazone (Fox, May 9, 1992) took me aback when Lydia turned out to actually be the Alfred Hitchcock figure. But it was a Twilight Zone spoof. Still, Lydia was truly adorable.

frankie_fan 08-19-2009 10:56 PM

Having gotten my love and admiration for Jessie off of my chest, I've now been introduced to a new female character:
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...noMiyazawa.jpg

It's no wonder EVERYONE at school admired her! This is Yukino Miyazawa from the anime His and Her Circumstances, also known as Kare Kano. She's a freshman in high school who's young, beautiful :-*, smart and admired by many. But, she's only this way because she just wants admiration like a drug!

Even if she was that way at the beginning, as I continue to watch this anime (I've only just finished disc 2!), I find her to be more admiring and beautiful. I think it's because when she finally realise what she's doing and how she changes because of the male lead that she tries to kill, but eventually falls in love with, that she's becoming one of my newest crushes. She's really adorable.

Why is it that whenever I look at the 'Currently Active Users' page, there's always a guest looking at this thread?

I notice that no-one ever mentions Toaster from Tube Mice. I can't begin to imagine why that would be.

Cassini90125 10-30-2009 03:27 PM

There were no less than five guests looking at this thread earlier. Seems the lot of us aren't alone in our love for animated characters.

frankie_fan 12-21-2009 08:38 PM

I feel that I need to go on about Jinx a bit more! 8D

She is definitely one of the best looking characters on the show (aside from Raven and Starfire!), and she does have such a gorgeous voice, particularly in her first appearance in 'Final Exam'. But Mr. M is right about just limiting her to ones that feature the Hive 5 members. At least until 'Lightspeed'. I liked how she was more dedicated to her role as villain than the others were. I especially loved how she looked when she decided to fight Kid Flash.
'On second though... Nah!'

She is definitely one of my favourites that is both bewitching and mesmerizing to look at.

frankie_fan 06-02-2010 08:45 PM

This thread's been quiet for too long. 8D

Astrid from How to Train Your Dragon is my latest favourite animated female. Sure she may be the clichéd feisty female warrior who's VERY easy on the eyes (especially during her intro :-*), but I could tell right from the beginning that she cared for Hiccup. She's the type of girl who acts feisty because she doesn't want to show that she can be weak. When she eventually warms up to Hiccup during their flight, she becomes one of the sweetest, gorgeous looking girls I've seen.

At reading my post here about two years ago, I forgot to mention Nigie.

http://www.cameronanthonypark.com/wp...6/numbuh-1.jpg
Nigel Uno, aka Numbah 1 of another of CN's original animated geniuses, Codename: Kids Next Door.

I've always loved the British accent, the most sense I can make of it is that it's like music to me. But I don't really think his accent has much to do with how much I like this guy. His personality is big part of the reason- a go-getter, good at taking charge, and taking care of his team, responsible, sensible, willing to fight for what he thinks is right. I like his features too, and love any scene where he takes his glasses off. Although the glasses are cool too, they're part of what makes him "Numbah One" after all.

KND is on CN again so I've been able to watch it quite a bit lately, and I love the show all over again every time. It's still nostalgic for me too, which is probably another reason I feel attracted to him. He reminds me of a fun time in my life a number of years ago.

Medikor 06-18-2010 11:43 AM

I gotta say that Juri from SSFIV has me totally smitten. She's just such a fun character and you can't help but love that cocky walk of hers. 8D

Let's see...

Princess Peach + Waluigi (I hope it's okay I'm adding video game characters here. xD) from Mario

Vash the Stampede from Trigun

Kula Diamond from KOF

Wilt from...well, you know. xD

Sailor Venus from Sailor Moon

Kyouya Ootori + Nekozawa Umehito from Ouran

Grell Sutcliffe from Black Butler

Rumia + Yukari Yakumo + Flandre Scarlet from Touhou Project

Yowane Haku from Vocaloid

Terra from FF6

Freakazoid from...Freakazoid. xD (I seem to like some weirdos. | D)

Oh, and Xion from Kingdom Hearts. <3

I don't really have crushes on toons, but I will say before I "came out" a few years back I REALLY liked Jack Skellington alot.
It might have been a crush, I don't know...

Ccook50 08-07-2010 10:44 AM

I always thought Captain Caveman & The Teen Angels was pointless--it was created only because Radio Comics wouldn't allow Hanna-Barbera to use Josie & The Pussycats in Laff-A-Lympics. I digress, Brenda of the Teen Angels (the brunette) made me melt.

Lucky 12-10-2010 03:32 PM

I used to have a HUGE crush on Mac (Foster's) when I was eight.

When I was a younger kid though, I had a really big crush on Doug Funnie (from Doug, the Nick/Disney cartoon). I remember I had this stuffed toy of him (still have it, but it's lost), and I used to watch my recordings of the Nick version, hugging it. (The toy came from the Disney version, however I prefer the Nick one, I don't hate the Disney version.)
