I always found her character and her voice actor to be very appealing, and she didn't come off as anything but a strong, determined friend who was dedicated to her friends and was not snippy, rude, or sexed up or egotistical. The ego thing is what bothered me about Sailor Mars and occasionally Sailor Moon.

I also got drawn to the Jupiter that she was always the loneliest and never really settled with a good boyfriend, I know Venus, Pluto, and Saturn also never got boyfriends, but Jupiter's bugged me more because the fact she wanted a boyfriend was a running gag of sorts with her.

You remember that Sailor Jupiter book I picked up awhile back? I gotta tell you, based on everything I've read therein and what I remember from the show, the fact that she never found anyone special is absolutely astonishing. Who wouldn't want to settle down with her?

Here, here. I'd give my right arm to settle down with her. Lita is not a girl you find often, in real life or the animated one. She actually enjoys cooking and on top of that, she is a strong and dedicated person who truly cares about her friends.

She's not egotistical, she's not overly sexy, and she never does anything for herself, even with her cooking, she just seems obsessed with putting others before herself. Just like you say Cass, who wouldn't want to settle down with a great girl like Jupiter?

I myself have had strong fondness of characters in past cartoons, but never to the point of actually 'loving' them. For me, that is a terrible thing to happen since you'd pin your emotions on a person that doesn't really exist. They can never return your feelings, they can't be there for you when you really need them, or anything along those lines. I'm not saying I think lowly of those who do, that is their life and their choice who they love and how. But for me personally, loving a fictional character just isn't right.

Since I already get that from real women it makes no difference. Oh, and my experience was quite the opposite; Frankie has been there when I needed her, and has made a difference in my life. For personal reasons I do not wish to discuss the matter further at this time.

Being someone who's usually the first one to draw the line between real love and obsessional fictional love, I honestly have to say that I agree with Cass. They may not have physical arms or words to hold you with but that doesn't mean they can't be "there" for you.

In a sense, animated characters represent ideas and identities that we can love and cherish. A character's personality can be so admirable that just by watching them or hearing them speak alone can inspire great feelings inside of us. People get inspired by songs, books, stuffed animals, billboards, even quotes.

All non living things and non "hugging" things that continue to affect us emotionally. Something I do often in my daydreams is fantasize about the idea of what if one of those characters ended up here? What if as I stare out my car window as it drives by a landscape, I see someone fictional fall from the sky?

Is it wrong to actually dream to want to feel a fictional cartoon character, to actually imagine what they would say, how they would talk to you, or even to get a bit more personal, what would they think of you? I don't believe it is wrong because as long as you know the difference, they are always helping.

Sailor Jupiter or Frankie may not be flesh and blood enough to hug me when I feel sad, but that doesn't mean that they cannot inspire me to feel just as good about myself as if someone was really holding me. Cartoons inspire the world we want to live in, where things are simple, fantastic, and unique.

But they also inspire us as individuals, and that to me is a sign of being touched by a cartoon girl or guy for that matter. They are the animated representations of dreams and ideas that people overlook and disregard, they are the windows to people that we could all learn a thing or two from.

They may not be real but the impact they have on us as individuals and more importantly, for me, as a human being, is more powerful and more emotionally life changing then any woman I have personally met in my lifetime.

I was going to post something here... but then I saw Mr. M basically wrote my own feelings, in a clearer and more wonderful way than I ever could've. He's 100% right.

Indeed he is. That covers everything I wanted to say, and is one of the most beautiful things I've seen written on this Forum in a long time.

It's okay to be inspired by cartoons or to find comfort in them. I think CG was more talkin about the people that think because they have a crush on an anime character, the character is their boyfriend and they're going to get a house together with pink flamingos in the lawn and tulips in the garden and have lots of kawaiiiii children whos eyes take up two-thirds of their face and who save the world before bedtime desu desu desu.

I've seen people on forums go on about how they're afraid to start a real relationship because it would feel like they're cheating on like Inuyasha.
