Not to mention if he cut the rest of his arm off or if someone surgically removed it. Maybe the journey there is where he got his other scars.

Something from GWH I'm kinda interested in is "who created Stats?"

Someone HAD to have surgically removed it, because the stump still has scars from sutures or surgical staples. It would have been impossible for Wilt to have not only cut it off, successfully tied off arteries, veins, lymph nodes, etc., AND sewed the stump up, using only one hand, and no pain killer. He might be tough, but I don't think he's THAT tough or has that much medical knowledge! Like I've said before, it's a common practice after performing a limb amputation for surgeons to take muscle from some other part of the body(especially if the muscle from the affected limb was badly damaged) and use it to create a padding over the remaining bone in the amputated limb. This speeds healing because it keeps the bone end from rubbing against the skin that is pulled over the end of the stump and it also makes fitting and adjusting a prosthesis easier later on down the road. Muscle is usually taken from someplace where it's not needed as much for locomotion; in humans, that's usually from the thigh or gluteus maximus, but in Wilt's case, he has those facial lobes which are probably just muscle tissue.

thank yous =)

pitbulllady 03-10-2007 05:59 PM

I was gonna mention that flexible/stretchy or not, Wilt still has bones, so that means that his entire muscular-skeletal system is basically identical to ours. Bloo clearly states that Wilt had to have a specific broken bone X-rayed and put in a cast by a doctor, and that the doctor said he'd probably be able to take the cast off in six weeks, which is now long it normally takes a human bone fracture(unless it's really bad, or there are complications, like infection)to heal. If Wilt could not put that particular extremety in a cast himself, he surely couldn't amputate his own arm! It also shows that there was nothing "magical" about how Wilt lost that left arm following his injury in Good Wilt Hunting; it did not just "fall off" or disappear, and those suture scars show up on the distal end, as has been suggested. While Wilt might indeed push the limits of being "double-jointed", we are certainly meant to understand that he is comprised of the same sort of biological tissue that we are, and can suffer the same sort of injuries.

Oy, that last one, though-that's probably gonna trouble him more in the long run than the arm and eye!

Wow....I feel behind....it took me two days just to read all of the posts on this thread! I must say though, I like the point everyone made....and unfortuately I'm not feeling creative enough to add anything intelligent about Wilt at the moment, I just thought I'd jump into the thread on my favorite character while I had the chance.....so everyone can just ignore this post.:D

Not at all. The more people who are able to express their love and admiration for the most wonderful gentleman ever to grace our television sets, the better.:D

Okay, I?m on tenterhooks about this. Could you possibly give a few more hints about exactly which bone he broke (one which could be so much worse than losing an arm and an eye)? Put it in spoiler tags maybe? Thanks.

Aww...:D

He's not THAT great. (At least that's what he says)

FailedShapeshifter 03-11-2007 03:59 PM

I'm a little curious as to what Wilt broke myself.....and who's fault it was! I have a strong feeling it was Bloo......cause you know.....I think he's broken just about everything else in the house:wiltshock:

fosters home fan 03-11-2007 08:14 PM

About wilt's "mangled" arm.I believe that just prior to the first house photo ,they took it off somehow so he'd look better for the picture, plus he probably didn't want the arm dangling about anyways.

Anyways WILT RULES :D

scary_dream 03-11-2007 08:17 PM

Eh... I'm lost.

What about Wilt breaking something?

Did I miss something?

*feels stupid* :(

Spoiler Below
According to Bloo, Wilt broke a toe while running to catch Bloo, who had launched himself through the air with a catapult he and Mac had built as a school project. Wilt tripped over a rock and broke his toe, and with toes as long as Wilt's, that's GOTTA hurt! I've broken a toe and a foot, and it takes a LOOONG time to heal because there's always stress on it, plus, Wilt would have a tough time using crutches, with only one arm. Bloo told Frankie that the doctor who X-rayed Wilt's foot and put it in a cast said that the cast should be ready to come off in six weeks, and of course, Bloo was really proud of the fact that he'd caused Wilt to hurt himself.

antgirl1 03-12-2007 05:23 AM

Nah, the rock's the real culprit. XD

Spoiler Below
And it couldn't have been his "Big" toe he broke, unless he didn't trip on the rock head-on. It's probably most likely the secondary/middle toe, the longest toe and therefore closest to touch anything.

Ouch. I hope the perpetrator gets what's coming to them.

Anyhow, thanks for that.

FailedShapeshifter 03-12-2007 11:33 AM

I hope so too! Hehe...I actually just got the DVD and just heard that part like 30 minutes ago! Poor Wilt.....

scary_dream 03-18-2007 12:55 PM

::) I got the DVD so I FINALLY understand what's going on in this thread!!! 8D

Spoiler Below
Why did Frankie sound SO unhappy when she said she had to take Wilt to the prom? I mean, of course, I'm sure she really wanted a human to ask her, but still, I'd MUCH rather take a true gentleman like Wilt to the prom than some last-minute high school student. At least she gave him credit for being a really good dancer though...

Here's my theory, for what it's worth, and PLEASE, Frankie fans-understand that I like her a LOT, as much as I can like any female character, so I'm not putting her down. I have been her age, and like her, I was a social outcast who was shunned by my peers for various reasons, so I can relate to her predicament. Here goes...
Spoiler Below

Even though Frankie is now 22(or 23), and she is a responsible and intelligent person, she still sometimes thinks like a teenager, and has the same priortities that a high school student will. You will notice that the whole reason behind her showing that video to Bloo was so she could get to go shopping in the mall again, and shopping in a mall is something very, very important to her at this stage in her life. I was the same way at her age. Being popular, or at least being accepted, by her peers is also very important, and she does not want to be seen doing something, or be seen WITH someone, that might cause others to think negatively of her. Simply put, that little lesson she learned in "Frankie My Dear" didn't stick. Throw in Bloo's evil(no other word for it; Satan himself could not have been more slick in twisting around a person's intentions and using them against that person)manipulations and taking advantage of her emotions, and you have a situation where she is going to inevitably say things she doesn't really mean. She was all set to tell off her grandmother, the person who raised her AND provides her with a paycheck and free room and board even now, so is it any surprise that she'd act so disappointed at her prom date? Eventually, Frankie is going to have to make that leap of intellect that her so-called friends, her high school peers, are really no better off or happier than she is. She needs to see their relationships crumble, needs to see some of them ruined by drugs, alchohol and abusive relationships over time, as I've seen with my former classmates. I think that Frankie really knows that Wilt is ten times the gentleman as any of those high school boys who shunned her and made fun of her back in high school, but she's still not out of that high school mentality herself, not yet. She still has some growing up to do, and Bloo, unfortunately, isn't helping with that at all.

FailedShapeshifter 03-18-2007 04:32 PM

Good Wilt Hunting is the most recent episode of Foster's:cheesegrin:
Everything that's been mentioned is on the Season 1 DVD. It's on the Commentary for Store Wars, if you get the DVD watch that first, it's the greatest!:D

You mean after the lengthy thread about the Season One DVD, you didn't even know it was OUT? See what you get when you don't stick around here! Anyway, this is all on the DVD, in a special commentary voice-over by Mac, Frankie and Bloo, over the episode, "Store Wars". You'll just have to go get the DVD....good luck finding that sucker, though!

*le sigh* You put it into words so well. :D

I agree. Not to mention, I know while Wilt is a true gentleman, whenever you're socially shunned for something, every little bit counts. As much as she cares for Wilt, that doesn't matter in other people's eyes. To them, she's being seen with OMG AN IMAGINARY FRIEND, which is "TOTALLY uncool". It doesn't matter how good of a friend he is, mean people believe what they want to think is true.

you said it, sista.

Vampyre 03-21-2007 01:46 PM

Ok, completely and randomly changing the subject but...

Seeing as Wilt smiles like there's no tomorrow, do you think perhaps he has DIMPLES? X3

scary_dream 03-21-2007 07:16 PM

Tee hee! That'd be pretty cute if he did!

I can imagine he has them somewhere... though, are dimples due to smiling a lot, or are they just naturally there? I smile as much as the next person, and I have them, but I know a few people who don't, as well.

x_dummkoff_x 03-22-2007 03:52 PM

I smile a lot and I don't have 'em.
at least, I think I smile a lot.
or I think I don't have 'em.

FailedShapeshifter 03-22-2007 04:17 PM

Now I'm just an ignorant teenager who pretends to know a lot but really doesn't, but I'm pretty sure that you're born with dimples!8D I was.....well I have ONE dimple, on the left side of my face and it makes my smile very lopsided, but that's not the point right now:gooblab:

Like I said, I think you're born with dimples, but I could be wrong, hopefully someone who actually knows will come along and ethier correct me or tell me I'm right:D

...............but.............OMIGOSHWILTWITHDIMP LESWOULDBESOCUTE!!!!!!

Sparky 03-22-2007 10:00 PM

You're born with them (I have 'em). I did a Google search to check, and while basically it's stated that they're hereditary, I didn't find any definitions I liked, so I'm not linking to any. It's more common to have one on both cheeks (like me) than to only have one, on one side; and chin dimples (known as cleft chins) are possible too. One can also acquire dimples through plastic surgery, for about $500 per cheek. :D One site also said one could potentially get a dimple through an injury, but could provide no proof or cite any examples.

scary_dream 03-22-2007 11:30 PM

JEEZ, $500 per cheek? Dimples are cute, but I'd not want them THAT bad! Plus, who would want FAKE dimples!?! lol

Hmmm.... dimples through injury? Perhaps if Wilt didn't have them before, he could have them now due to the reason the stitches are on his face? I know it's been suggested that his facial stitches are from healed surgical incisions (sp?), but would it be possible for the skin to heal in such a way that afterwards he would have them?

Thanks for the research, Sparky :D

FailedShapeshifter 03-23-2007 01:34 PM

Oh.....so I am wierd........oh well, back on Wilt.......that may be the case, I have met a few people who have claimed to have dimples due to injuries.....but some of my friends are liars so there's really no tellin'. I think that it would be hard to tell if anyone had dimples on the show...cause of the way it's animated, I haven't seen anyone with dimples on the show yet anyway, but then again I'm not to observant..........*shrugs*:P

but still........WILTWITHDIMPLESISSTILLCUTE!

Vampyre 03-23-2007 01:42 PM

I've decided I'm SO putting 'He has dimples the size of coconuts' soemwhere in my fan fic now XD

I was always thought that dimples came if you smiled loads and loads, but I actually DO smile quite a bit and I don't have any. Just a dent in my cheek that looks i've been punched in the face with a tiny fist, it's not a dimple though, I know that much...

The thought of Wilt, however, having dimples IS just simply adorable.

*giggles* Dimple...

pitbulllady 03-23-2007 02:36 PM

People are born with dimples, but a lot of smiling CAN eventually result in a wrinkle between the nose and corners of the mouth known euphamistically as "grin lines". Since Wilt doesn't have a protruding nose like we do, though, he'd probably just have a crease at the corners of his mouth.

pitbulllady

FailedShapeshifter 03-23-2007 04:56 PM

Hehe..."Dimples the size of coconuts" That makes me smile:D
Now I can see Wilt actually having grin lines, even though he doesn't have a visible "nose." I don't know why, but it just seems to fit him:frankiesmile:

........dimples the size of coconuts.......I really like that......

LaBlooGirl 03-23-2007 05:33 PM

::blinks:: So now we're talking about Wilt's dimples, or lack thereof?

LOL I love this thread.

Tonya 03-24-2007 08:54 AM

Babycakes ---> :D has dimples!!!

FailedShapeshifter 03-24-2007 12:55 PM

And apparantly they're the size of coconuts! (That really makes me smile Vampyre ^_^)8D

InsaneFan 03-28-2007 10:58 AM

xD Oh my.

I second LaBlooGirl. x3

antgirl1 04-02-2007 01:40 PM

...So, what now? XD

FailedShapeshifter 04-02-2007 02:54 PM

Good question..............
He's uhhhhhhh.........really tall......................and red.........

.......yeah I got nothin'8D

CG 04-02-2007 03:34 PM

I noticed it, after all it makes sense, a Harlem Globetrotter ball to go with Wilt's Harlem Globetrotter arm bands. And it also makes sense because Wilt Chamberlain (The basketball player whom our favorite IF got his name from.) played for the Globetrotters at one point in his career.
