Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl

Doing a mini marathon of sorts, trying to watch the Pirates movies back to back; one each day sort of thing. Getting even more pumped for these movies after seeing the trailer for "On Stranger Tides."

Tangled

If you haven't seen this film yet, see it now. I think it's one of Disney's best non-Pixar films. It's down-right hilarious (courtesy of a horse) and very sweet. Out of all the songs, one of them is my favourite, and it involves thugs. That's all I'll say. Go see this film, it's brilliant and hilarious.

The King's Speech

I'm not at all disappointed that this film won Best Picture at the Oscars instead of Toy Story 3, because after seeing it, I think it's a brilliant film. Major props goes to Geoffrey Rush (who really should've won the Oscar) for his hysterical and brilliant performance. If anyone believes that this film is nothing more than a fancy-pantsy film, prepare to eat your words. It's nothing short of brilliant, and well deserving of the Best Picture Oscar.

The original Ocean's Eleven on TCM last night. What an ending.

Summer Wars

Anyone (except me) who saw the anime film The Girl Who Leapt Through Time should know the director of this film. It's a fun, if dramatic, film that works as a mix between The Proposal and WarGames.

Kenji is an average high school student who works part-time as a moderator on a virtual social network called OZ. His crush, Natsuki, then invites him to her summer home to celebrate her grandmother's 90th birthday. However, two things complicate them. One: Kenji must pretend to be Natsuki's boyfriend in order to impress her extended family! Two: a deadly AI is hacking the virtual world of OZ, and Kenji's been taken the blame. However, Kenji, Natsuki and her extended family must soon bond together in order to stop the AI and unite as a family.

The film delivers great comedy (ESPECIALLY the final scene of the film), surprising drama and awesome action that really shines. This is one of those anime films that I think will be considered a classic overtime.

I just got done watching "Paul." What a wonderful movie. It starts at the San Diego ComiCon, and ends at the same. That is all I am going to say, other than I recommend watching the film.

Saw that at the weekly movie night at a friends' place, I liked it too. I was the only one in the room who'd been to SDCC and recognised the place before they showed something that actually said Comic Con on it.
