Well, I never thought I'd post here again, but I just have to leave one more message in remembrance of this generally great cartoon.

Somehow I still can't believe that Foster's is over, much less that nearly five years have already passed since it first premiered, but I thoroughly enjoyed these last five episodes just as much as I would any of the others.

A gem was definitely created over the past five years and it will be dearly missed. It's sort of bitter-sweet in a way, but I'm actually feeling more happy than sad because of all the good things I will remember about it...all the smiles, chuckles and outright guffaws at Bloo's antics. :) So here's to you...thank YOU, Foster's crew, for giving us such a great show in the first place.

Cassini90125 05-03-2009 04:02 PM

Guys? It's been requested that talk of the final episode and what happened be confined to the "Goodbye To Bloo" thread, although you may certainly continue to laud the show in general here. Also, in consideration of our friends on the West coast who haven't seen the final episodes yet, please remember to use spoiler tags in the episode discussion threads, m'kay? ;)

Xroc88 05-03-2009 04:21 PM

I agree, i had to cover my eyes while scrolling down and erase any memory of any things accidentally viewed.

L.G. 05-03-2009 04:33 PM

The new episodes were awesome! I'm still saddened how the series is now officially concluded. Hopefully, CN will continue to air Foster's on a regular basis and not on random occasions.

Well I'm glad now I avoided this thread all afternoon.

Anyways I have a problem. Since we got a new TV and TiVo HD I never tried capturing to my computer until today. I wasn't able to do it, something weird with the signal as it comes through the TiVo maybe (we don't have a cable box, there are cable cards in the TiVo). I seem to be able to record with my VCR off of my other TiVo (non-HD) in the bedroom, but the picture quality will suffer. :/ So I can take screencaps but they won't be very good, and I can't upload the eps because the TiVo kinda chopped the eps up since the eps didn't air on the hour.

So what I would like is if someone else can provide me with good-quality, 640x480 captures of Fools and Regulations and Goodbye to Bloo (I have the others already) to make screencaps from. I'd *really* appreciate it, as it doesn't seem the new eps are going to air again anytime soon. :/ Thanks in advance.

And that is why I've never had TiVo or a cable company's equivalent, and never will. I consider them unreliable and useless. :P

I recorded F&R and GTB but I don't know if WMP will be cooperative about playing them; the version on my laptop has been problematic. If it does work I'll let you know.

Xroc88 05-03-2009 06:27 PM

What format did u convert into in the first place?

Sparky 05-03-2009 06:47 PM

Well it turned out to not have anything to do with the TiVo. It's because my capture card can't capture an HD signal without me upgrading the program I use. I may or may not be able to afford the upgrade. :P

One Radical Dude 05-03-2009 07:20 PM

I'll see what I can do for you. I did record the episodes on my DVR. I haven't worked with videos in a while, but I'm sure I can still do it. It may take some time, though, since I'm working most of each day (except wknds).

Sparky 05-03-2009 07:24 PM

Thanks, but I did get video working. Unfortunately, there's no sound. 8D So I can at least do screencaps. However I wouldn't say no to very high quality captures, it seems like whenever I capture the quality's not as good as some of the captures I download from other people. :P

Shelltoon 05-03-2009 07:34 PM

Five years of memories, such a shame it all had to end so soon. Seems like just yesterday I was watching House of Bloo's. There were so many wonderful memories to be had at Foster's, good and bad. However, despite it all being over, the only words left for me to say are... thank you for a wonderful 5 years of a great cartoon that restored my faith in the industry. Thank you Craig! Thank you Lauren! Most importantly, thank you everyone from the Foster's crew!

I second that motion entirely. I don't think we'll ever be able to thank them enough for all those years and the wonderful memories we've made because of them.

My eyes hurt from tearing up for the past hour or so. But it helps to laugh at re-runs. I popped in one of my old VHS tapes and am watching the show from a few years ago. The pain is numbed when I watch it again like it's still going on.

Many more. I think that there's a very good chance that we'll get a reunion special someday, or if we're truly lucky, something on the big screen.

wildspyre 05-03-2009 07:54 PM

look at the bright side, now that Craig is done with fosters, he can work on a new cartoon

emperor26 05-04-2009 05:17 AM

After five long years, Foster's finally aired its final episodes for the last time. I wish it would have lasted much longer before then.:(

On the other hand, Craig could focus on his next project and whatever he creates will sure be another hit for CN.

Congrats to Craig, Lauren and the rest of team for creating an awesome, original show. :)

I got this all sorted out, btw. :) I'll try to get the eps up for download as soon as I can.

Oh you mean like their direct to DVD movies? Yeah I could see that working too.

But at any rate if anything were to happen on this front it probably won't happen for some time to come, so best to enjoy what we got right now and leave the future right where it's going to be.

Ub3rD4n 05-05-2009 09:23 PM

Well, guys, it was fun while it lasted.

I haven't really had the time to be around these forums for about the last two years or so, but I am now leaving for good. Before I do, I just wanna say thanks to all you guys out there on the forums, especially Sparky, for making it happen and uploading the videos for us poor fools out in the wops who would otherwise have to wait half a year to see it. Oh, and to those who read my fanfic (while I was writing it) and those who tolerated me in general. Like the show itself, I'll always have fond memories of being a part of this forum, and it will always remind me of better times.

So, guys, have fun, take care, and as they say in Wisconson: Sayonara Suckers!

One Radical Dude 05-05-2009 10:06 PM

I hate to see you leave, but we thank you for stopping by. Take care of yourself.

jekylljuice 05-06-2009 02:03 AM

For good? That's kind of a downer... :bloosad: Thanks for being part of our big happy family, Dan, and I'm sure I speak for all of us when I say that you're welcome to drop by any time, should you change your mind.

Thank you :D I accidently read a spoiler and had to erase it from my memory as best I could, then wrote on a post-it note "Don't look at the spoiler tags" XD.

I still can't believe Foster's has ended :/ I guess it won't really begin to kick in until I've seen the last episode, and I'm holding out on downloading it until they air it over here. I'll probably shed a few tears when I do eventually see "Goodbye to Bloo" - since I already downloaded "Fools and Regulations" yesterday - but until then, I'll carry on as if it wasn't ending.

WiltGirl 05-12-2009 08:03 AM

WAT HAPPENED???? I NEED TO KNOW HOW IT ENDS!!!! sniff* why wont it air in the uk????????!!!!!

I IZ DEPRIEVED!!!!!!
WG :(

and y is every one tlking bout leavin the forum???? its fosters NEVER FORGOTTEN! just cos it fini does nt mean we all gota leave does it???? I may cry!!!! and i havent even been able to watch the end yet!!!! i have to relay on this site to watch FHFIF, cos the uk is deprieved!

WG :wiltshock:

Mew 05-12-2009 08:22 AM

I know how you feel, WiltGirl, the UK is *always* the last to receive episodes (well, usually). Just download it, that's what I did :P.

jekylljuice 05-12-2009 09:04 AM

On the bright side, we did get three of the final five months before they were available on US soil (not that I was really in a position to take advantage of that for much of the time) - but yeah, for the last two, downloading's probably your best bet for now.

As for leaving the forum, on the contrary, my dear WiltGirl, I believe that most of us regular posters do intend to stick around for a fair while yet.

Mew 05-12-2009 09:26 AM

Yeah, it figures they'd show some new episodes *after* I stopped watching it because they showed the same episodes over and over =P.

I'm not leaving.. I just *joined* last year, and besides.. I don't think we can stop thinking of things to talk about just because the show's ended =).

Cassini90125 05-12-2009 09:36 AM

I'll probably be here until the day I get banned. 8D

WiltGirl 05-12-2009 09:53 AM

Yay! I'll be here till u all get sick of me!
the Uk misses out on so many great shows, why does the US have to have them all???? japan/china too, with manga and anime.
where can you download the last ep??????????
WG :D

Mew 05-12-2009 10:11 AM

In the Episodes for Download thread, in the General Board =).
And hey, the US doesn't get all of the great shows - after all, we've got the Royle Family =P.

WiltGirl 05-13-2009 10:00 AM

the royel family? never heard of it. i guess it isnt to do with fhfif but wat is the royel family?
and thx for pointin me in the right direction!

An unconventional sitcom written by and starring Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash, alongside Ricky Tomlinson.

EDIT: Keep in mind that the above article is a bit out of date. There has been another RF special since, as well as an additional Comic Relief sketch.

WiltGirl 05-14-2009 10:58 AM

ooooooo, i now which one you mean. i just need to see a pic and i knew straight away. i thought u might have been talking about sum spin off 'my family'. which is a very good english program! (if its english and i didnt just make a stupid comment. lol)
but america has the best cartoons! is there an english cartoon that popular?
WOO FHFIF AND TMNT!
WG :D

jekylljuice 05-14-2009 11:21 AM

Well, there's Aardman's output. It's stop motion rather than "cartoon" in the strictest sense, but I consider the Wallace and Gromit shorts (and feature film) to be among some of the finest animated films ever made.`

WiltGirl 05-14-2009 11:31 AM

you said it! wallace and gromit rocks. but as u said, their animation. i cant think of a british cartoon thats not been totally weird/bad. alot of kids cartoons now are actually from places like spain, and yes i speak of pocoyo.
but fhfif is one of the best cartoons eva, and since we can get it in the uk, (even if it is by downloading from the internet by this site) i guess i cant really complain.....

yes i can. lol, lucky americans!

You clearly missed out on Pinny's House, King Rollo, The Dreamstone, The Animals of Farthing Wood (bar series 3), the old-school Cosgrove Hall productions and the like...a lot of stuff which I grew up on in the late 80s/early 90s, and which is now long gone and isn't coming back (luckily we'd acquired a VHS recorder before they completely drifted from the air). I can't speak much for the state of current UK kids' television, since I now don't watch a huge deal of television, period. Still, Charlie and Lola seems nice enough. On the whole, I think that stop motion is the animation medium which we've done best with, giving rise to such creations as W&G, Morph and Creature Comforts, and it's far from confined to what Aardman Studios have done (plus you can consider the range of one-off 2d animated instalments, like the various Raymond Briggs adaptations, many of which are now classics).

Oh how far off-topic we must have come...

Ridureyu 05-14-2009 06:20 PM

I liked the Discworld animated adaptations, except that the actual animation quality was abysmally poor.

Discworld (the TV series) was one of Cosgrove Hall's, I believe. They're probably most famous for their 80s cartoons DangerMouse and Count Duckula, both of which featured leading voice-work from David Jason. The animation quality there might seem a little crude nowadays (particularly when compared to something as fluid as Foster's), but it still beat the pants off most product-based cartoon shows of the decade.

I forgot about the animals of farthing wood, i love that tv show and the books. i dont regonise the others but that did also remind me of watership down. which i did like! i think thats english. plus ther was the cartoon series 'the spider' which i think was english which was very good.
its a shame none of these old shows arnt coming back because they were much better than sum rubbish you see today. of course not including fhfif in that.
we have kinda gone off topic havent we? lol. 8D
its nice to know though that others remember these old shows.
