Sorry

As I haven't mentioned yet what I'm expecting Fosters' fortune will be, I kind of expect this will be the last season, but S6 will have a full lineup of episodes, like every other season. I don't actually expect the show to be canceled like I mentioned above, I'm just preparing myself for the absolute worst so that really anything else will be "good" news. ;)

cartman414 04-03-2008 07:54 PM

I'd been wondering about this for the past year, knowing that Billy & Mandy and Codename: KND had been completing their runs.

mylineup 04-04-2008 09:05 AM

This article doesn't say specifically that there are new episodes but, imho, looks promising

http://www.kidscreen.com/articles/daily/20080404/cn.html

"Additionally, the net's The Cartoonstitute is up and running and looking to create up to 150 pieces of programming over a period of 20 months. Power Puff and Foster's executive producer Craig McCracken is spearheading the new in-house, artist-led content hatchery with help from Dexter's Laboratorycreator Rob Renzetti."

One Radical Dude 04-04-2008 11:18 AM

You need to read the entire thread before posting stuff. It was already mentioned here. :nono:

antgirl1 04-04-2008 01:44 PM

Gosh, I wish CN would just flat-out say if Foster's is going on or not...:(

jekylljuice 04-04-2008 02:28 PM

I guess, then, that it still remains to be seen. Though personally I'm not getting my hopes up. Six seasons will still add up to a good run for Foster's, and it will always be quality, not quantity, that truly counts.

I also agree with Sparky. Let's hope they're not intending to let Terrence completely fizzle within the time remaining. That poor kid's been forced out of the scene for long enough.

girl_named_goo 04-04-2008 02:55 PM

Hey Guys,

Craig here, I'm using Lauren's login. I thought I would finally put an end to all the rumors. Yes Foster's is ending with season 6. Cartoon Network has never gone past 6 seasons for any of their original shows. In their minds 4 seasons is a complete order of episodes and if a show does really well they might give it that extra 5th or possibly 6th season but they've never gone beyond that.

This is a decision that I can totally understand and am totally cool with. Truth be told we were really struggling there at the end to keep each show unique and original while trying not to repeat ourselves.

Season 6 is shaping up to be a really good season, lots of funny shows, Superdude is coming back, and we've combined 3 of the 13 half hours into a new hour and 1/2 full on Foster's adventure movie! We want to go out with a bang so stay tuned!

Thanks,

Craig

Cassini90125 04-04-2008 02:59 PM

I guess a lot of us were expecting that. I think I can safely speak for most of us when I say thank you for six wonderful seasons of what has to be one of the finest cartoons - one of the finest shows - to grace the airwaves in ages. It's been a great run.

koosie 04-04-2008 03:16 PM

Yeh we'll keep laughing till the end.

Cheers everyone. Good ride that, eh?

You know you never know what the future might bring in this crazy old world.

Medikor 04-04-2008 03:17 PM

I'm glad to hear that Foster's will be ending on good terms. I'm saddened, yes, but it's nice to know that our favorite show won't be forcing its way on and suffering in quality. That would truly be a shame given the solid line up of episodes we have been fortunate enough to enjoy.
All that there is left for me to really say is "congratulations on exceeding CN's expectations with two extra seasons!" I'm really looking forward to the rest of season 6 and the special movie that we will be getting.:D

xxxClaire 04-04-2008 03:54 PM

Aww... Though I'm really sad to see it go, I'm glad that it had a really good run.
Can't wait to see the movie.

bloonuggets 04-04-2008 04:20 PM

Six years is a magnificent run for a very creative show as this. Here's to everyone!

pitbulllady 04-04-2008 04:45 PM

Ah, man, I have to say I'm disappointed, though not totally surprised. I guess I was trying to be the optimist and see that glass as half-full, but as they say, all good things must come to an end. I'd rather see it go out this way that becoming jades and "jumping the shark", as so many shows do when they're way past their prime. At least, hopefully, re-runs will continue to air, and again(hopefully), all seasons will eventually be released on DVD(like a special version of Good Wilt Hunting), and maybe Craig will occasionally satisfy out need for a "new Foster's fix" by putting up comics on his DA site, since that seems to be a medium we all enjoy, and he has a bit more freedom with that than with the show. It's been great, wish it could last longer, but such is life.

Shelltoon 04-04-2008 04:59 PM

Craig, Lauren... you gave us six seasons of joyous laughs, and awwww moments. It's a shame that all good things have to come to an end, but I will love and cherish Foster's until the day I die. I thank you Craig and Lauren for everything, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends will not be forgotten, it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Thank you...

Well I guess the only thing left to say is:

Congraduration.
This story is happy end.

Thanks for the laughs, It's been great. And we've still got one more season to go so I'm definately looking forward to that!

Thanks for setting the record straight, Craig. Not really unexpected that they would end it at this point, and I'd seen it coming from a mile away. If there's any reason it feels like it hasn't been long at all, it's because you guys hammered out the first four seasons within the first 2 to 2 1/2 years of the show's existence - no mean feat considering those are what I would generally consider Foster's at its prime - (not to say the show has necessarily gone downhill since then ;)) - and that the subsequent seasons have followed with little delay. Other shows, particularly Ed, Edd, and Eddy, took their sweet time finishing their runs for various reasons. But then I take it that episodes of Foster's have never taken too long in production.

Lynnie 04-04-2008 05:41 PM

:bloosad:

Well, at least I can breathe easier now knowing for sure what's up. Thank you for keeping us in the loop, Craig. :)

I'm not surprised either, and certainly respect the decisions that have been made. It wasn't a good run, though. It was a GREAT run. I will sorely miss it. But we still have an entire season to look forward to, and a movie! I too greatly look forward to that.

And a huge Thank You to Craig, Lauren and the rest of the crew for bringing us non stop laughs, heartwarmings, and adventures. We will always be thankful for brightening up four years of our lives. And we'll always love you guys. Take care now!

Ditchy McAbandonpants 04-04-2008 06:24 PM

And there we have it.

Mr. McCracken, thank you so much for four years of lively wit, hilarious stories, peerless entertainment and, most importantly of all, unbridled imagination; that wonderfully idiosyncratic, evergreen and unmistakable Craig McCracken brand of imagination that has been a real inspiration to me for almost half of my life. Bloo and Bubbles, Frankie and Buttercup, Mac and Blossom, Coco and Mojo; I've loved and cherished these guys almost as friends for close to a decade now, and for that I feel that I personally owe you, Lauren and your wonderful creative teams an unbelievable debt of gratitude. I like think of myself as somebody who's generally pretty good with words, but on this occasion, it doesn't seem like words can really cut it.

Instead, then, I'll simply promise that this avid viewer will continue to champion and cherish every minute of Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends as it moves into its swansong season, and will continue to treasure it long after that, as I have with The Powerpuff Girls before it; in the meantime, I wish you and Lauren the very best of luck in your future projects, and will be counting the days until we can see what else that beautiful imagination might have in store for our drab, unsuspecting little world. :bubbles::bloogrin::blossom::)

It's been awesome-rific, guys. Roll on Season Six!

Ridureyu 04-04-2008 06:56 PM

I'm sorry it has to end, but I will certainly enjoy what's left! And enjoy the previous episodes too, honestly. I don't see this community dying out any time soon.

One Radical Dude 04-04-2008 08:49 PM

I'm glad to know the outcome, and it was absolutely no surprise to me that the 6th season will be the final season of the series. I'm sure it will be sad once it does officially end; however, it has certainly been a great ride for the series, and I look forward to the remainder of the series. Craig, I am proud of what you and the entire crew have done for the series, and I want to thank you all. I want to wish you and Rob well for the upcoming Cartoonstitute project. It is likely that we'll definitely be hearing more from you in the future. Thanks again, amigo.

jekylljuice 04-05-2008 01:22 AM

Like most folks here I'm not particularly surprised by this news, nor am I disappointed, since I wasn't getting my hopes up in the first place. I will certainly miss the anticipation of having a new Foster's episode on the horizon once Season Six is up, but such is life. All things reach their natural expiration date, and when they do you've just gotta move on. "Moving on", of course, does not mean leaving behind all the wonderful memories which Foster's has awarded me, nor all the beautiful joys which I'm sure the show will continue to throw up on re-runs. My only hope is that Never Forgotten will continue to thrive for at least a little while after the show has aired its last, because I would really hate to see this place disintergrate.

Well, here's to you, Craig, and Lauren, and all that you have given us over the years. May Season Six prove to be the glorious final chapter that Foster's so richly deserves.

BluebottleFlyer 04-05-2008 02:03 AM

I speak for a lot of people when I say I was kind of hoping there'd be a little more petrol in the tank, if you know what I mean. But, as they say, all good things come to an end.
Can't really think of anything to say that hasn't been said already, to be honest. But I'd like to thank Craig, Lauren and all the crew for 4 years of a great cartoon, which I'm sure will never be forgotten, as the name of this forum says. It's been fun.:)

Imaginary Light 04-05-2008 03:25 AM

I can't really think of anything to say that hasn't been said. It's been fun while it lasted though. It seems these four years have just flown by. I still remember when Foster's first premiered and how awesome it made me feel watching it :) I will definetely miss the thrill of new episodes, but it's not like the show's gonna disappear.

So, thank you, Craig, Lauren, and the rest of the Foster's crew for giving us such a lovely, unique cartoon. I'm sure I speak for a lot of us, if not all of us, when I say we enjoyed every minute of it

Invader Bloo 04-05-2008 05:50 AM

NOOOO!
It's sad. I wonder what will happen to the forums?

FostersFriend 04-05-2008 09:23 AM

I dought it the forum will just die out, not with us fans here anyway.

Thank you Craig and Lauren for the most amazing and inspirational cartoon show there is! Foster's will always remain one of my most favorite shows and I can't waite to see how Foster's goes out with a big fantastic bang! I'll certainly miss all the characters, I congratulate you Craig on a good run and for creating a cartoon show I'll never forget. :)

girl_named_goo 04-05-2008 09:44 AM

Hey Guys,

Craig again. Thanks so much for all the support, Lauren and I can't tell you how much we appreciate it. But to look at this from a slightly more positive perspective, season 6 has just started airing and we're not gonna be finished delivering the shows till the end of the year.

So watch, enjoy, and don't change the channel just yet, we're still around,

Craig

Cassini90125 04-05-2008 09:47 AM

We'll be there for every episode. That's a promise. ;)

And thanks again for four amazing years!

Oh, don't worry-you couldn't get rid of us if you tied chicken heads around our necks and threw us in the catfish pond! I don't think that the love of the show will die when it ceases production, either; die-hard fans will stick with what they love most. There will no doubt be several people, mostly those who joined only because of the game, "Big Fat Awesome House Party", who will leave the forum, but I think the rest of us will stick around for as long as Sparky is willing to keep the site up. Craig, you've still got your DA site, and perhaps every now and then you can include some drawings and comics there, to provide us with a "fix", and maybe even CN would agree to an animated short now and then. I hate to see the series end, though I'm looking forward to the upcoming episodes, but there are many ways that Foster's can live on.

pitbulllady

taranchula 04-05-2008 11:41 AM

I agree with PBL, the show may be ending (at the end of this year) but that doesn't mean the franchise (or This forum) for that matter will be ending too.

The characters we've come to enjoy so much can still live on in other forms, such as the comic, video games. (Midway has to make a Bloo Superdude game, like right now.) DVD's and as PBL had said maybe the occasional short or even some online content. Maybe even a reunion special a few years from now if all parties are willing.

So to paraphrase the great Winston Churchill:

"Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

Oh and let me also say thank you to every last member of the cast and crew of Foster's for providing me with hours upon hours of entertainment, and for leaving another high watermark in the world of American animation.

Mulch 04-06-2008 09:19 AM

Um... uh... I can't really say anything without repeating something already said, so I'm just gonna thank Craig, Lauren and the Foster's Crew for hours of enjoyment, look forward to Season Six (excluding the first episode because it already aired) and... that's pretty much it. Also, I'm glad to see that Foster's is getting an "ending". Although I'm a bit worried that some characters might be unhappy at the end or something like that. Oh, well.

Oh, and I'm also hoping that Terrence will appear at some point, like some of you have speculated. Come to think of it, Berry would have to make a third appearance so that she wouldn't be left roaming free at the end... after all, she escaped from that first giant rubber-band ball and I'm getting way off topic. Better just stop now.

I'd be perfectly happy for Berry to remain free. :scaryberry:

As you know, what I really would have liked would be to have seen Kip Snip return at some point in the series. I've pretty much resigned myself to the fact that it's probably never going to happen by now. There's always fan fiction, I suppose, and I do have some stuff up my sleeve as far as that's concerned.

antgirl1 04-06-2008 01:17 PM

So while we still got a season left of the show, I say we should milk it up for all it's worth, face it with heads high and chins up, and enjoy what will be left of the show....Besides, 13 half-hours is a LOOOONG time for a season (at least, for me), and they say they'll keep airing new episodes of the last season all year long...

SO LET'S LET FOSTER'S GO OUT WITH A BANG!! *BOOM*

Thank you, Craig, Lauren, Phil LaMarr, And pretty much everyone else who takes the time to make Foster's come onto the TV possible, for EVERYTHING you've given us. Foster's, I must say, was such a sweet, sweet eye candy treat, that my eyes rot from it. In a VERY good way.

Ub3rD4n 04-06-2008 03:05 PM

Endings are always tricky, aren't they?

I mean, on one hand you have shows like Invader Zim, cut down in their prime, before they really got rolling. Noone likes to see their favourite show (and believe me, Fosters is my favourite show, and perhaps will always be) go, I could keep watching this stuff forever.

But on the other hand, you have stories that just don't end. I think about most western comics, that never end, always go on. Their characters will never know a real conclusion, and that makes me sad. So, I'm glad that the show gets an ending. I'm glad the show is going on just as long as the creators want it to. I'm happy for this.

And I won't bother saying how much this show has meant to me. It's evident in all my posts, all my fanfics, and anything else I've put onto this site. I could say the same for all of us here. I just want to say that I hope there's a good ending, but considering who will be working on this, I don't think we have to worry about that.

So, to Mr McCracken, thank you, and good luck on your new endeavours.:)

fosters-fan 04-07-2008 01:30 PM

While I am sad to see that the show will be ending after season six, I am also a little happy that it'll get the proper series finale that it deserves. :)

I just hope that the Foster's five each get the spotlight in an episode each, especially Eduardo, since he's an ultimate favorite of mine. ^_^

Anyways, to Mr. McCracken, Ms. Faust, and the rest of the Foster's staff....... thank you very much for such a wonderful show. Thanks for everything. :')

WiltFan 04-09-2008 11:30 PM

....
Well, the show had a great run. A bit sad to see it go, but I guess it can't go on forever right? I'll be looking forward to the rest of season 6!! :D

Fomalhaut 04-10-2008 05:29 AM

This nearly made me cry. I hope it all ends well anyway... you don't know how much happiness Foster's had brought to my life... I just hope they will keep airing old episodes here and there after it all ends (and I'll be able to get those downloads...)

And the main thing is: I hope this Forum will stay. Live. This is the forum that has brought to me my best Internet pals EVER (you know who you are), and a great company.

Frankie_4_Prez 04-10-2008 07:13 AM

Agreed... rules, schmules. Whoever came up with this hard-and-fast 6-sseason limit rule? What's the rationale behind it anyway? So that they can churn out new toys every 4 years or something?

If so, then in Foster's case they failed miserably. There aren't a lot of toys around, and the ones that do exist aren't of particularly high quality. :P

I have no explanation for the 6 season/78 episode limit. I'm sure there is one but I don't know what it is, nor do I expect it would make a lot of sense. It feels so arbitrary; I think each show should be renewed or cancelled on a case-by-case basis, not based on some one-size-fits-all rule.

I agree about the "six season limit"-- I really don't get it. Foster's was doing so well, why should CN cut it down in its prime?

But I suppose that it had to happen eventually. :( And we'll always have memories, reruns, iTunes and hopeful DVD releases.

Because otherwise, The people making the show would start running out of ideas and be forced to make mediocre episodes if the show were to go over the intended numbers of seasons. *coughsouthparkWHEEZE* :P
