The Pussycat Dolls: Search For The Next Doll. Skanks on parade.
Any teen comedy on Nickelodeon or Disney. Is it a pre-requisite for any girl trying out for these shows that they have to prance around like Lizzie McGuire? Reality TV. No use for the genre whatsoever. |
Anything on TeeNick is right, Ccook. Seriously, who wants to bother watching a rock band of teens, or a girl hosting an internet webshow? I see no point in such shows, and don't even get me started on Just Jordan. Honestly, if you look up "Bad television" in a dictionary, you'd see the logo of TeeNick. If you could look up 2-word phrases, that is.

Anything on Adult Swim besides Futurama, Family Guy, ATHF & Robot Chicken is crap. |

I know there isn't, but whenever I say "sex sells", I mean it as in regardless if there is actual sex in the show, it still shows miles and miles of cleavage, long legs, and gallons of sensuality. They're portrayed in a sexual manner, which therefore makes it sell better. It's why they have buxom scantily-clad women advertise beer, cars, etc. It sells the product. I still stand by that the Girls Next Door is the most boring and shallow show ever. Quote:

And you think The Venture Brothers is crap? Have to say, I have to disagree wholeheartedly on that statement..... |
oh come now, "Victor. Echo. November" and "Assassinanny 911" are classic. Don't dis the Venture Brothers until you've seen those episodes.
Molotov hands Dean the Spetsnaz handbook and a throwing knife, "everything through chapter 4 by noon" LMFAO "Why are you naked?" "To prey on their fear, to move like a animal, to feel the kill..." Patrick Warburton is perfect as Brock 8D |

Judge Judy
I've seen her say, "I don't care if you're right or wrong, or what the law says. I don't like you, so YOU LOSE!" She's being sued right now because apparently she doesn't like to hire minorities or old people. I hope she mouths off to the judge and gets held in contempt of court. ...Not to be mean, or anything. |
Sounds to me like she needs to be removed from the bench. :frankiemad:
|
You'd think so, but she's the second-highest paid woman on television, next to Oprah.
Also, there is one way she can get away with it - the actual settlements do NOT come out of the defendant's pocket. It's paid by the producers through a $5K fund for each case. thus, you have the advantage of not only appearing on TV, but also not being out any money if you lose. But this comes at the expense of your dignity, and you get to help give people the wrong idea of how the courts run! |
And people will watch this drivel, even knowing all that. Pretty sad, when you think about it.

"The X-Factor", aka us Brits' version of "American Idol". I don't see what's good about people auditioning and singing their hearts out for a million-quid record contract and being humiliated by egocentric judges (including Simon freaking Cowell) in front of the nation. And the end product is always the same: big, manufactured, schmaltzy pop ballad which goes on to be the big Christmas No. 1. Then the "lucky" winner, who will have been promised a glittering career, will be cast aside like rubbish before they know it, so they can just find another bunch of unlucky souls to humiliate. And what beats me is why loads of people are happy to waste their money voting for the winner, when they know it's all just to line the pockets of the record company/judges/management/whoever else. It's grade A trash.:edmad:

The Reality Show, Moment of Truth.
God-awful. Watching a man's social life crumble before your eyes is NOT entertainment. |
Quote:
Sounds like it's just another horrid "reality" show. I have no use for that genre whatsoever. :P |
Moment of Truth is a game show. In it, you are asked true-false questions on a lie detector. You earn money if you are truthful, and lose everything if you lie once (or if you're nervous enough to fool the lie detector).
"Have you ever cheated on your wife?" "Have you ever stolen from the workplace?" "Do you look up pornography on the internet?" And worse questions, some phrased in such a way that there is no "easy answer." |
Ah, so the show rewards good liars who can fool a polygraph. Yay. :P

From what I can tell, pretty much every reality program on television is awful, and it's the main reason I've given up on television in general, considering I can purchase the shows I wish to see on iTunes.

I'll see your Holy Diver and raise my PAT BOONE REMIX
Just so you know, he intended that album as a joke. |
I just caught a glimpse of this week's episode of MOT.
"If your ex wanted to get back together with you, would you leave your husband?" "Yes." Holy shyt. Are you really willing to go that far for half a million? Hell, you wont even get all of it! Deduct taxes and expenses and voila. |
I hope he divorces her. :frankiemad:

It's the reality shows that go for that extreme or shock value that really make you question the integrity of television these days. But I will admit that I enjoyed one or two reality shows at some point. The Contender was fun and Don't Forget the Lyrics is more wholesome than you would expect from reality TV these days.
I think video game shows are terrible. As a gamer myself since before the NES days, I just can't stand them. They're biased and down right irritating because they try to add this cool and hip feel that just turns me off. Games are cool on their own, they don't need help from television bigwigs who don't give a rat's behind either way. And the worst of the worst is Spikes gaming awards show. It's a complete and utter farce! |

Well, game review shows may not always be a consensus, but they can be hilarious. Take Xplay, for one. Life After God of War! |
Anything that resembles the dreck on Disney Channel. I want Disney Channel circa 1999 before this "consumer lifestyle" crud.

Ramsay's apparently more of a jerk than he seems on TV. He's been known to attack people, to sneak food in vegetarian dishes, and other things. On the bright side, I've eaten in his New York restaurant twice. He wasn't there at the time, but the food was... well, wow. |

Yeh. I saw an episode of Samuri Champloo,,, and didn't even know what it was until AFTER I looked it up! :blooxd:. But, yeah. Better than Other shows I can name. Family Guy CAN be funny at times, but Robot Chicken is pretty awful IMHO. Nothing but parody after Parody... No original material. At least Family Guy gets a bit of newer stuff every now and then. I still like South Park better, but, even it's newer seasons aren't quite the same (No Chef, for example...)
ANYWAYS, I second on the "Disney" channel crap. IT's not even really Disney stuff. If it WERE really a Disney channel, it'd have things like Donald Duck and Chip and Dale still airing on it! Not HSM and that garbage! :@ |
Hannah Montana? High School Musical was brilliant, I admit that, but everything else from 12 noon to midnight (especially between 3 PM and 8 PM ET/PT) is totally pablium puking.

Concerning Isaac Hayes, yonks ago when I actually could watch South Park, I considered him to be the only really decent male voice actor that the show had to offer. He had just one part, but he did it well. ALL of the other male characters, meanwhile, are voiced by Matt and Trey, who don't exactly have a brilliant range, and I found that got mighty tiring after a while. Compare it to the Simpsons, in which the vast majority of male characters are voiced by either Dan Castellaneta, Hank Aazria or Harry Shearer, but the resulting range of voices is a heck of a lot more diverse. Admittedly, I'm one who reckons that anything post-Season Nine from the Simpsons' run deserves a place on this thread too. Mr. Mackey was fairly cool, but otherwise South Park just isn't my cup of tea. |
George of the Jungle's show isn't that funny or great, but I wouldn't call it awful personally, for some reason I really love the character designs on the cast. It just seems to work well with them and I can't help but like the design. I strongly disagree with Robot Chicken but I can see why people might dislike it.
The show I find to be awful is that annoying "The Closer" show. I see too many annoying ads for it on TNT when I watch Law and Order and I don't know how Kyra Sedgewick got an award for that character because she seems annoying, stupid, poorly acted and it just feels like a tacky show with little real depth. It just relies on one annoying "Hard ass" character who is hardly what I could call hard ass OR interesting. I also DESPISE that horrible "Out of Jimmy's head" show. The movie was bad enough with completely moronic ideas, a freaking green alien sister with cheap antenna and a astronaut mom and...god I feel stupider just talking about it. |
Any VH1 reality show that focuses around a former celebrity. Hogan Knows Best, for instance.
I admit certain reality shows have their moments, but most of them still annoy me to no end. Oh yeah, and Lil' Bush. I decided to watch it last night and while I chuckled at a few lines, it was still flat out horrible. Why Lil' Bush? I mean, What about a Lil' Reagan or a Lil' Clinton? I enjoy watching Family Guy, I'm not going to deny that, but I have friends that CONSTANTLY QUOTE THE SAME EPISODES OVER AND OVER and to be honest I'd probably be more into the show if it wasn't for them. I like watching the older episodes though. I don't know if it's actually gotten any worse or it's just me preferring old over new again, but I find them a lot funnier and there was a certain sitcom-ish charm the older episodes had that the new ones don't. |
