The only other movie Chatwin has been in was "The Invisible" which I saw which was a pretty good movie, but he pulled off a better performance in "Worlds" if you ask me. Anyway, I think Marster has the facial capacity and the bad ass attitude to play a wonderful Piccolo.

And actually most people have been using this thread in service of a Dragon Ball thread Nathander, but I think your onto something.

Bulma may have been cast. It is rumoured that Mexican star Camila Sodi has nabbed the role. It was reported by a Mexican press and games site Kotaku, although it hasn't yet been confrimed by Fox yet.

Chi Chi Cast!

Jamie Chung has joined the cast of Dragonball Z. She'll play the role of Chi Chi, Goku's love interest when he's growing up.

Dragon Ball has REALLY been making progress lately. Many more casting calls have been made and there's a handful of new stars now on board. In addition to the roles of Chi Chi, Piccolo, and Goku. We now have Eriko Tamura playing "Mai" one of Emperor Pilaf's henchmen, Joon Park playing "Yamcha" and Emmy Rossum with an unknown role.

Joon Park is a new face, he's of Asian descent and he originally was a singer for a band I think. No clue who Rossum is playing, she doesn't look like Bulma so i don't know if thats her role and Eriko looks pretty fine and dandy to be Mai. Also, they released "set photos" from Dragon ball on a movie website I visit often.

Now granted this is just a set photo, I really can't honestly say if this is what Justin Chatwin will look like as Goku for the movie. I don't know what they are filming, where they are filming or how its being set up so don't assume this is how Goku will look. Most people don't do that and get upset before they see OFFICIAL movie released photos to give them a better idea.

Anyway, here's some set photos from the DB movie including more information behind the casting details:

I got two words to say to that: PERFECT casting! :smed:

I'm not too familiar with, Mr.Yun-Fat but he doesn't really look like the perverted hermit type to me. But I've been surprised before.

He's done the following movies, the most famous ones he's done anyway:

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, Bullet Proof Monk, The Killer, and Hardboiled.

frankie_fan 12-26-2007 11:02 PM

It's been revealed that Emmy Rossum's role will be Bulma.

Here's some facts that I found for the movie from Wikipedia:

In adapting the Dragon Ball manga, the futuristic cities were kept, but the anthropomorphic talking animals were dropped. Many of the locations are very Oriental, and there will be some Aztec influence too, particularly from their temples. Many of the female leads and extras will have unique hairstyles, including Rossum, who will wear a blue wig to resemble her manga counterpart. Chatwin, however, will not wear a wig as it was felt his hair already resembled Goku's.

Blue hair in a live action movie? I'm sorry, but I just can't picture it as anything other than goofy.:(

Mr. Marshmallow 01-16-2008 01:19 PM

After seeing people with hair dos like in Star wars, X-men and other series with colorful hair styles, I don't see this as being much of a big problem. I also think with the actress they have chosen, Emily Rossum, I can see her in blue hair and working with it. She's going to have a wig I believe.

I don't see this as much of a problem. I was also originally worried at first about Justin Chatwin being Goku but now, seeing the photos of him in Goku's classic orange outfit and seeing how he's aged since his last couple of movies, I think he's going to do a fine job. I am REALLY looking forward to this :D.

If they use that extra time to touch things up, than the delay could potentialy be a good thing in the end.

frankie_fan 04-05-2008 05:06 PM

We have new on the set photos. While nothing exciting, it features Justin in his Goku outfit, and it looks really good on him!

I'm hoping for a "THE BALLS ARE INERT" reference myself.

Hey, X-Men 3 had a reference to "AH'M THE JUGGANAUT B***H" so it could happen.

WorstPreviews.com has provided scans of the cast from a Japanese magazine. They are quite big, so I'll just provide the links:

I am half happy, half excited about this. On the one hand, I think Yamcha looks much better then I thought and I was really impressed at what they were able to do with Bulma's hair, as well as Goku's hair. However, I am deeply concerned that Master Roshi does NOT look very much like how he should in the show.

For one thing he was BALD and had a LARGE white beard, I expected Chow Yun Fat to be a bit more faithful to a role he takes on. I get the feeling this movie is not going to be 100% faithful but at the same time, I don't feel I'm going to totally hate it. I have a feeling it'll get it like half right and half wrong or something.

Which sucks because I'd rather they get their act in gear the first time and do this right, needless to say I at least like how the costumes and set pics look. I'm more concerned with how DBZ (sequel) will actually look since I loved Z more then the original but still, I'm gonna give this movie a chance like most movies I see.

I'll wait to see a trailer to see how this goes, I'll definitely see it either way but I'm hoping for my own fan sake they get more things right then wrong.

Medikor 05-23-2008 08:55 AM

You know I'm actually impressed with those pics. I'm not a big DBZ fan in any stretch of the word, but those pics show that they were able to keep traits of the characters from the show but still keep it from looking overly goofy looking. I'm actually really impressed with how they did Bulma's hair.:D

some guy you dont know 05-24-2008 06:02 AM

those are great looking so far, except for roshi. he just kinda looks... different. i dunno, maybe its the hair and not-glasses. and turtle shell.

but otherwise, it looks pretty good so far. :D

Nathander 05-24-2008 08:02 PM

Roshi's appearance really doesn't bother me. None of the characters really look like they do in the show to any real degree, so it doesn't really bug me about how Roshi looks.

frankie_fan 10-10-2008 07:26 PM

UPDATE!!

I've just checked a Wikipedia site on this film, and an English poster for it has been released:

I gotta say, Justin does look the part of Goku.

Mr. Marshmallow 10-10-2008 10:52 PM

I saw the trailer, both leaked and official and even with the images and my overwhelming god like love and devotion to DB still.....I am not happy with this movie. Half the reasons they stated for changing it are crap and it actually infuriates me more knowing why they felt the need to change certain things.

I actually would have been better off not knowing because it just seems stupider when I actually hear the reasons why. Roshi officially sucks as Fox has openly admitted his pervert character has been yanked to make this more family acceptable and aside from Piccolo's cool (yet off colored) make up job, I am still deeply worried.

I am still going to see this first day and no doubt find some incredible glee in my mind when I see the DB easter eggs but.....I fear this movie is going to let me down and yet I also feel it might not. Its confusing and hard to put into words just know that I am still positive about this but I am still also not very happy.
