I mean he's funny and all (and I love how his head flaps like that of a Canadian on South Park), but tangential, irrelevant non-sequiturs can really only take a character/series so far.

Like that time I made a snide reference to a cartoon that's lived on this formula for years.

^Sorta like Family Guy, eh? :P

I would find it a bit sad if it turns out people only watch the show just for Cheese.

Cassini90125 11-03-2007 01:55 PM

Some apparently do; it's inexplicable. :terrconf:

Chaos Wielder 11-04-2007 02:56 PM

Well, since Wilt's my favorite character I think you can pretty much figure out whether or not I watch this show for Cheese. :P Sure, Wilt is the character that really drew me into Foster's to begin with, but you have to admit that the show just wouldn't be the same without the other characters. They make it funny and add depth at the same time. Really, could you imagine the show without Mac and Bloo because I certainly couldn't!

So yeah, I don't watch the show for Cheese, but I DO watch it for the character development and laugh out loud moments. :)

Sparky 11-22-2007 03:36 PM

I went to read the Little Peas ep discussion thread just now even though the ep hasn't aired yet here because I still couldn't believe that it was a real ep. Now again, I have not seen it yet and maybe I'll like it, but I'm really disappointed. I mean first there was the float in the parade this morning where Cheese was totally out of character and basically portrayed as the main character of the show, and now we have a rehashing of a Cheese episode. And he was all over the Season 2 set. I dunno, I'm just disappointed, it feels like such a major sell-out, and it turns me off the show just a bit, it honestly does. (No offense to people just doing what the network wants.)

I can honestly say I have now had MORE than enough of Cheese. -_- I know I'm not the first to say it, I just had to get it off my chest. He is kind of funny, in small doses. But he is NOT the main character! No matter what, he is NOT! I would rather see them do a spin-off (as mentioned at Comic-Con) if that means they can lay off of his appearances on Foster's.

Cassini90125 11-22-2007 03:39 PM

You'll get no argument from me. All that, plus all the merchandise at HT and elsewhere with his image on it... I'm sorry, but it's getting old real fast. >:(

BabyCharmander 11-22-2007 03:44 PM

I was hoping the Season 2 DVD thing was just because Cheese's first ep was in that season...

Argh, we're getting an overdose of Cheese. D: It's like the FOOD cheese... too much of it makes ya' SICK. I'm hoping he won't be featured in any eps for a while, and if he is in an ep, it's just a background appearance...

Sparky 11-22-2007 03:52 PM

Lol, I can't remember if I ever mentioned it, but for pretty much all of my twenties (from when I was 19 to when I was 28) I had an allergy to cow's milk. And I didn't even know what was wrong, I just got sick, like food-poisoning sick, whenever I had like, pizza and stuff. I finally figured out it was milk products (but only cow). It went away on its own like I said which is nice, but whenever I look at large quantities of cheese I still remember how sick I used to get. I never wanted to carry that sentiment over to the character Cheese but I dunno... :slybendy:

antgirl1 11-22-2007 06:40 PM

I'm starting to feel that it'll become "The Cheese Show". :(

pitbulllady 11-22-2007 07:01 PM

I'm really getting sick of Cheese myself, especially after tonight. I feel like I've had a forced overdose of Cheese. He's not even a REGULAR character, let alone the main one! I haven't even seen that many younger kids who really like Cheese, not at my schools where I teach, anyway. Most of them who watch Foster's(and it's a LOT more this year than last year) seem pretty much evenly divided between Bloo and Wilt, the same two who top the character popularity charts(at least among the Imaginary Friend characters) on most internet polls. Jackie is really garnering his share of fans among my students, too, especially after he dressed as a pimp for Halloween, and Wilt's popularity has risen tremendously among my students, especially with the boys, many of whom last year disliked him because he didn't seem "hard" enough in their eyes, until they saw GWH. Not many of them are fond of Cheese, though. I've gotten to the point myself where I'd actually consider not watching the show again if Cheese becomes a major, regular character, seriously. They'd have to have some really awesome Wilt moments to make me keep watching if that happened!

I may be slow in really getting tired of seeing Cheese everywhere, as I haven't really minded it. But yeah, at seeing the new eppie tonight is little more than a remake of "TBC", that irked me more. Another thing I wish we'd see more of in Foster's merchandise is Mac and Bloo instead of Cheese and Bloo (I was tickled to see some Berry and Bloo stuff). The merchandise seems to be neglecting the humans entirely, except for a few group shots. That's what irritates me probably the most. :frankiemad:

Chocolate Milk 11-22-2007 07:22 PM

Not necessarily, he is a great character but I'm sure people like the otehr character just as much. Bloo and Cheese are equal to me.=

Shelltoon 11-22-2007 11:13 PM

I think it's time we let everyone at CN and the Foster's crew know how we truly feel about Cheese. There's way too much of him now, and if the only HT hoodie for guys ends up being Cheese... I'm not buying it. The only reason why people like Cheese is because he reminds several Invader Zim fans of Gir. There are plenty of other IFs and they need more attention.

I'm quite well known amongst my friends for my dislike of cheese (the food). My digestive system has a pretty hard time with dairy products in general, but I harbour a particularly strong aversion to that branch of it - with the exceptions of mozzarella and ricotta, the taste alone of most kinds of cheeses makes me feel completely sick. :P

As for the character Cheese, I could state my opinion on him, but I'd just be reiterating what pretty much everyone else has already said. "Mac Daddy" was a fine episode, yet the greatest thing about that episode for me was not the introduction of Cheese, but Crackers.

I agree. Cheese isn't a bad character, but I can think of quite a few other IFs that I'd rather see.

Taco Wiz 02-01-2009 04:52 PM

This theory makes NO sense whatsoever. As awesome as Cheese is, he only appeared in 3 episodes starring, 1 with a small cameo, and 1 with a medium role. So that's 5. If Cheese appeared in every episode, this would make sense.

HerrimanWasHere 02-02-2009 01:22 PM

Cheese is okay in small doses.

As many people know/guess, Mr. Herriman is my fav character. But I only liked him from watching many episodes. Heck, I just love the show! The style, humor, voices, personalities...it's just perfect. I'd rather hate myself than say that Cheese is the main reason why I like this show.

Sheesh...

That's exactly what I was going to say! I had a little peak at the US iTunes the other day and looked up Fosters- and was very disappointed to see The Big Cheese and Cheese-A-No-No (as I call it) were so popular :o. I have a look at the reviews and a lot of them seemed to say "Cheeze iz da BEEEESSSSSSSTTT!!!" :terrence: They were also saying things like "Where's Mac Daddy?!" and "Oh, he's in Infernal Slumber!"
But The one that really disappointed me was "Fosters is nothing without Cheese!" :edmad::cry2:

For me Cheese is good in Mac Daddy, Infernal Slumber, and just very breif apperances like the Big Picture. I don't mind him in small does, as others have said, and I don't mind minor prasie of him. But TBC and C-A-G-G were bad in my opinion because he was irratating and making unresolved misery for everyone else (especally the latter, a noisy hyperactive mess with a nasty ending) I have no interest in the Little Peas.
I'm also disappointed to here of his other exposeure (The Macys Parade, the shirts etc.), as Fosters has many great episodes and great characters. Do these people dislike the episodes Shelltoon mentioned- or are they not interested in them?:terrconf:

Still, as Lisa Simpson said, there is always a market for the lowest common denominator!

Sparky 02-25-2010 11:18 AM

Pretty much every single day I get a comment or two on the Macy's Parade clips I have on YouTube, and they are 99% of the time gushing over Cheese. In fact, here is today's first:

I LIKE CHOCOLATE MILK!

Part of me feels like screaming right now. "Fosters is nothing without Cheese"?? Give me a freakin' break. Cheese is nothing without Foster's, as far as I'm concerned. ::) :P

Moan.... the fact this person cannot spell "the" suggests to me that this person has the intellagence of his/her idol:cheesegrin:

Howard 02-27-2010 06:04 AM

While I think Cheese is a funny character, he is like alcoholism: to much can be a bad thing! Could Foster's have gone on without Cheese? Absolutely! Quoting another poster "...without Foster's, Cheese is (was) nothing..." that is it.:cheese:

kl457 07-19-2010 09:44 AM

I don't think so... I've never really met that much people who watch a show just for one person... But maybe that's meh??

Chi'n Ta 07-19-2010 07:10 PM

I'll have to agree with Howard. Cheese is part of the big picture, not the picture itself.

rhythmfuzion 07-22-2010 02:37 PM

The reason I'm interested with Foster's is NOT because of Cheese, because I hate him. It is because of the lesser-known imaginary friends, especially Pizza Party and my made-up band, Anarchy League.

AmberMist84 07-30-2010 08:23 AM

I watch Foster's for the light-hearted humor, GREAT animation, colorful characters, and awesome plot.

BUT! I DO NOT WATCH IT FOR CHEESE!

I find Cheese very aggervating and over-rated. When there was an episode centered around Cheese, I'd shut off the tube and study for a trig test or somthing..

LeoHoffmeister 06-30-2013 07:22 PM

I particularly watch the show 'cause of Eduardo since i was a child, i like the other characters and stories but,God.. I ? Ed. And ehh, about Cheese, i think he is.. Meh,annoying as well,REALLY annoying.

fosters home fan 07-11-2015 11:14 AM

I dunno if I posted this story, but here goes.

About 9 years ago I was in the movie theater with family, eagerly anticipating Pixar's Cars. Before the flick they aired a heap of teasers and one happened to be the Cartoon Network "Yes" starring... Cheese. Just good ol' Cheese, stammering around like the freakish monster he is.

"IMMAH HORRRSEEEEY!!!!"

So the whole audience was roaring with laughter, and so was I. It was just too stupid and random to not laugh at. We all loved our unhealthy heap of rotten dairy mold on feet - and so the teaser ended.

Do I think people watch the show just for Cheese? Probably. They think he's hilarious, he brings them joy. Do I think that's a problem? No, actually. To me it's no worse than just watching the show for Bloo, Wilt, Duchess, or all else. It's a favorite character and it appeals in some form - even if many of us find that particular character horrifying. To each one's own. :scaryberry:

JPPT1974 08-21-2015 12:29 AM

Wished Cheese got his own show! Would had been a kick!

KazooBloo 12-01-2016 02:09 PM

Never liked Cheese so I vote no.

FrankRTWiw 03-22-2021 05:47 AM

Nah, I watch it for Wilt! :D
