That WAS a totally great episode, really! I'm still laughing and trying to recall all the references to other stuff. When we actually find out, though, at the very end, just what all that was about, it made sense, and the characters really weren't OOC at all...just elaborated upon a bit. I mean, really, can't you just hear Wilt saying that if he saw the others messing around with something that didn't belong to any of them, knowing it would likely wind up broken, and trying to do the right thing and take it for safekeeping until the rightful owner returned?

Oh, I forgot to mention Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure in my list of references, earlier. I'm sure more will come to me.

This episode was, in a word: AWESOME! I missed the first like 2 or 3 minutes or so but man this episode. This episode had the raw, creativity and imagination that "Make believe it or not" but it was done on a much more enjoyable and elaborate level.

Mac had some hilarious reaction shots to Bloo's wild story, the ending was a nice twist and Mr. Herriman was HILARIOUS as Lord Snooty. It was the perfect role for him and he exaggerated it so well. Not only that, but all of the jokes were funny here, this is the first time in a while the humor was this fresh and sharp.

But by far, the funniest gag in the episode (and NO this isn't for the reasons your thinking) was Frankie's spot 8-). She just had the funniest plot device of all, being "a beautiful fairy" (That's right folks YOU HEARD ED ADMIT IT) locked up and doing chores all day. She acts all cheerful then breaks character and sulks.

I just laughed when she said she lost her "dignity" being in that outfit, and I love Herriman's remark "She's not a prisoner, she's just faking it so people will do her chores for her"

"So sue me"

That was GENIUS! :berry: It truly was.

Bottom line, awesome episode. See it, watch it, love it, enjoy it because Fosters is finally back with new episodes and they are SO much better then I expected.

Cassini90125 09-10-2007 04:14 PM

Yeah, I loved that bit, particularly the "So sue me" line. You can expect new Frankie avs in the near future.

Again, excellent, excellent episode. Looks like the week is off to a great start. :)

antgirl1 09-10-2007 05:30 PM

Now I remember something, the dancing scene looked like Peanuts dancing. XDD

Imaginary Light 09-10-2007 05:44 PM

Wow. This episode was. Cracked. OUT! But in a good way8-)

I think I lost count of all the references and homages. I really enjoyed the Peanuts one8D

I think this episode makes it into my list of favorite episodes. I can't wait for the others!

Crash-N-Cortex 09-10-2007 06:37 PM

It was an amazing episode! I liked Bloo story, Herriman's role as a villain does suit him. I liked how Bloo, Ed, Wilt, Coco, Herriman, and Madame Foster were fighting over the power crystal. They were CRYSTAL CRAZY! Anyway, The story was cool and the episode. I also liked how Mac was excited about Bloo's story. I give this episode an A+. This episode will certainly make it to my top ten list.

One Radical Dude 09-10-2007 07:55 PM

There needs to be a Superdude action figure! :bloocross: I would so buy it!

Man, there was so much to like about this episode that I can't possibly say much. I noticed a He-Man reference in this one ("I have the power!"), and many Looney Tunes references (like the "Firecracker, Firecracker, sis-boom-bah.." line 8D). Oh, gosh -- this is definitely on the top 10. Cannot wait for tomorrow's episode. :)

Doh! Even though new episodes of shows since the summer have been on at 7 pm, I stupidly thought it would be on at 7:30 pm, and tuned in during the last 10 minutes. I hope they show this one again real soon.

Hey, don't feel too bad =D

I missed the whole thing because I thought it was 7 PM my time, and missed the part where it said eastern lol.

They'll reply it on Friday =)

Lynnie 09-10-2007 08:44 PM

Cartman, take heart, they'll air it again Friday night. :) Don't quote me on this, but I think it'll be at 7:30, after the debut of "Out of Jimmy's Head", which will be at 7. :bloosmirk:

This eppie was out of the ordinary, but in my book, that means AWESOME! 8D
Oh my word, Wilt appeared in that Jedi giddap, and his eyes couldn't be seen under that hood, I was floored! But then Frankie appeared, and I cracked up more than I have in a long time. She was just too funny as a fairy. Mac's reactions to everything Bloo did and said was funny too. And then it came to a perfect ending. I just wish we knew what the boys did to be sent to their room. But then, I guess Herriman doesn't always disciplines for valid reasons anyway. I loved how it seemed "The Creator of Everything" was Mac. But of course, with Bloo telling the story, and with his ego... yeah. Bloo is indeed everything. LOL!!

Great eppie, great start to the greatest week in the history of the world. :yeah:

Shelltoon 09-10-2007 11:57 PM

This was a tale that only somebody as creative as Craig could write. It was made of so much awesome, that all the torturous waiting was worth it!

Zeitgheist 09-11-2007 12:59 AM

Aww, I wish I could see it :'(

Great eppie, great start to the greatest week in the history of the world. :yeah:

Mr. H originally sent Bloo, Ed, Wilt and Coco to their room for fighting over the Game Guy, then Frankie apparently came along and bailed them out so they could help with her chores, including washing the Foster's bu...I mean battle tank. It appears that Mac loaned Bloo the game overnight, Bloo carelessly left it outside on the ground(per usual), Ed found it, Coco came along and tried to take it from Ed, Wilt showed up and realized it was Mac's game and tried to do the responsible thing by taking it for safekeeping(which meant he intended to sneak off somewhere and play the game himself, but at least it would be safe, right?), Bloo showed up and wanted the game back, a big ruckus ensued, Mr. Herriman heard it and intervened by taking the game and locking it up in his safe and sending the lot to their room.

OK, Bloo's version was a LOT funnier, but still...

It makes me wonder how the other characters might have portrayed themselves, each other, and the day's events, had one of them told the the story instead of Bloo. Not as entertaining for us no doubt, but a potentially interesting comparison.

ptps 09-11-2007 07:24 AM

Oh daaaaaaaaaamn I'm just reading the spoilers and getting so hyped up about this episode!!! I wanna see it bad T__T But I don't have CN, darnit. RARGGGGGGGH

That reminds me...any of you(besides Sparky; I know she was)a fan of the old Nicktoon, "AHHHH! Real Monsters"? There was an episode where the three main monster student characters-Ickis(my favorite, poor widdle cute guy), Krumm, and Oblina-all had to scare someone at the opera house. By a sheer fluke, they actually succeded, but when they got back to the Monster Academy the mind-reader/projector thingie(I forget what it was called)broke down, so they could not just replay what happened, and each had to verbally tell his/her own version of the scare. Each told a drastically different version, and in each version, the other two monsters were constantly screwing up and putting the trio in jeopardy, and the one doing the telling always portrayed himself/herself as the hero who saved the day. Krumm's version was depicted in very simply, child-like stick drawings, and was extremely simple, because he just wasn't the sharpest tack in the toolbox, and Ickis, like Bloo, always throught of himself as some larger-than-life superhero with bulging biceps and six-pack abs, even though(again, like Bloo), he was really a sawed-off runt with major insecurity issues.
It would have indeed been quite interesting to have seen how Ed, Coco, Wilt and Frankie all recounted that particular incident(well, we sorta hear a condensed version of Frankie's take on it, near the end), with Ed no doubt going on about what "big meanies" everyone else was, and Wilt describing how everyone else was being so childish and irresponsible so he just KNEW Mac's Game Guy would wind up being broken, and Coco...man, who knows WHAT Coco would have to say!

Addendum-Just remembered the name of that projector/chair/mind reader thingie in "AHH! Real Monsters"; it was called the "Viewfinder"-looked like a cross between one of those big salon hair dryers and an electric chair.

I actually remember that show, it was one of my favorites when I was little :] I loved Ickis, he was awesome with his big huge ears =D

I vaguely remember that episode, but now that you mention it I do see the similarities. Makes me want to see the episode even more now D:

bloonuggets 09-11-2007 12:53 PM

Did anyone catch the dance scene reference from A Charlie Brown Christmas in this episode? Eduardo in the Little Lord Faunelroy suit was high-larious!

AerostarMonk 09-11-2007 01:06 PM

A Rashomon-styled episode would be a very welcome edition to the archives of Foster's in my opinion.

Digifreak642 09-11-2007 06:06 PM

I guess I'm the only one who didn't like the episode. The only spoofs/references/parodies that I picked up on were Peanuts and Popeye. I thought a lot of the episode was annoying (I got tired of Bloo's voice by the end of the episode) and I didn't think that anything was funny. Frankie was the highlight of the episode, but she had a very minor part.

And the story was pretty darn stupid and pointless.

But the first time I saw STD I hated it but I have grown to like it, so maybe the same will happen for this episode (probably not though)

My favorite episode in season 5 so far has been The Buck Swaps Here

Oh and when Frankie first appeared it just had her voice and didn't show her, and I thought it was :goo:

Sparky 09-11-2007 06:42 PM

While I found the episode entertaining and I have nothing against it, I just prefer a "regular" Foster's ep I guess, showing the characters in "real life" as it were, rather than basically the entire ep being something make-believe. I'm NOT saying I don't think they should have made the ep, I'm just saying I prefer eps in a more standard format.

But I did love the monkey hand turning the book page...that was classic.

Aah, that makes sense. Thanks PBL! :D Oh yes, the Battle Tank! That also made me crack up! A tank with psychedelic swirls in pink and blue.... ROTFL!! 8D

Oh yes, I forgot to mention yesterday, I also thought it was just too deserved that everyone bow-the-knee to Frankie. I was cheering! I mean, how often do we see Bloo, or even the other friends, bow before her in the utmost respect? I just loved that! She deserves more of such respect, no?

don Jaime 09-11-2007 08:14 PM

I thought the heavy pop culture references worked really well in context. Of course Bloo's story is going to draw from whatever movies or TV he thinks are cool. Heaven forbid all episodes become this reference-conscious. There's too many "Family Guy" clones as it is.

This wasn't just a good episode, it was needed. Most recent episodes have made Bloo an irritant to somebody else's issues. This one put him and his way of thinking in the center. We get a clear image of what he thinks of everyone in the house, most of it fairly positive. Once it becomes clear that "The Creator of Everything Good in the Universe" is Mac, and that Bloo is spinning some event, it also becomes a game to see what Bloo is really trying to tell Mac: that he got in a lot of trouble and broke Mac's toy.

Note: There's nothing indicating Wilt, Eduardo, or Coco were grounded. Heck, Bloo and Mac appear in enough other rooms it's not clear Bloo was grounded.

Actually, there IS something indicating that at first, all four of the main friends were "grounded", as you say, and that was the scene in which all of them were locked up in the "dungeon" by "Mr. Snooty". Obviously, all four were involved in some sort of punishment for something, but Frankie came along and let them out on the conditions that they'd do those chores for her.

MASTERFUL episode. "So sue me!" is probably the hardest I've ever laughed at any Foster's gag ever.

One question, though: did the opening scene seem to lack a narration to anyone else? I didn't see it right away, but Mac stating Bloo had already said all that "In a world..." stuff during the motorbike presentation when it had actually been silent kinda made me wonder.

Absolutely she does; heck, I'd settle for a "thank you" now and then.

This was a awesome episode! "So sue me" is like the best line in Foster's! Also Wilt using jedi mind control on Ed was hilarious!

This episode is definitely one of the top 10 best ones.

Yeah I noticed but I took that to mean that Bloo had said all that to Mac before we came in or that we just didn't hear it or something. *shrug* I guess the writers/directors liked the mood for the opening without the narration better.

Digifreak642 09-12-2007 03:28 PM

I don't get why "So sue me" was so funny.

And I agree with sparky that regular episodes are better.

This episode is probably my favorite for Season 5. I just loved everything about it, I don't even know where to start.:D

Finally got a chance to see it (and with high quality, too!). Though I enjoyed it it wasn't THE best episode ever... But I have to say I really cracked up when Bloo started whipping his helmet hair around, washing the Foster's... tank XD

Really cute, though... but I was dissapointed that we didn't get to SEE Mac as The Creator :P

That's because the "Creator of Everything" wasn't actually there while all this was going on, and he had no clue that his Magic Potato...I mean Power Crystal...er, Game Guy...was causing so much drama.

Ah, you're right XD it would've been nice to see an image of how Bloo imagined him, though

don Jaime 09-13-2007 08:57 PM

Synopsis: Bloo is telling Mac an adventure fantasy story. The Bloo Superdude, basically Bloo as a combo of Conan the Barbarian and Mad Max, hooks up with a village boy (Eduardo), a Jedi Master-type (Wilt), and an alien (Coco. I think she was an alien.) who have found a magic potato. The potato makes everything fun. The potato is the property of the Great Creator of Everything Cool in the Universe, and the Bloo Superdude decides to protect in hopes of getting it back to him.

The groups is waylaid by Lord Nasty (Mr. Herriman) and his robot carrot army, who want to ban all fun. Imprisoned, they meet a fairy princess (Frankie) who gives them three tasks so she'll get them out to meet the Queen (Madame Foster). The tasks are to get eggs, wash the bus, er, battle tank, and take out the trash. The Superdude and friends race Lord Nasty to the Queen, who admonishes him for ruining all the fun. There's then a massive squabble over the potato. The Superdude destroys it to stop the battle.

Mac is deeply impressed by this story, until Frankie accidentally reveals Herriman grounded Bloo that day and she got him out of it by letting him do her chores. The "potato" is Mac's handheld video game. He's a bit sore.

Doesn't sound like much, but it's all in the execution. It's pretty outlandish and exciting, even though you know Bloo's explaining his way out of trouble again.

antgirl1 09-14-2007 06:21 AM

How come no one mentioned the cheerleading scene? XD

"C" the Dragon 09-14-2007 04:46 PM

I FINALLY saw the episode, and it's the BEST one I saw in Season 5!! And oh, man! I don't even know where to begin! Well, first off, the part when Frankie is using short tirms of what's happening and what to do was funny, and when Frankie showed a screenshot of the key to the "Magic Potato", Bloo just CRASED through the jail and tried to get the holographic key! Oh man, I laughed so hard!8D And the cheerleading part, OMG, I just wished that Wilt would wear that outfit again without the cape!!8D I spotted a whole lot of refrences, from the ones that I know to the ones that I don't! If you ask me, it's the best episode yet!!!!:D :D :D :D

taranchula 09-17-2007 06:33 AM

Out of the four new episodes that aired, I watched this one last. (I was working through them backwards you see.)

I think it's always nice to see an animated program once in a while do something that deviates from the norm and gives itself an excuse to get away with things they normally would not be able to do in a regular episode.

Bloo Superdude.... was a shining example of everything an experimental episode should be.

Everything just clicked together and nothing seemed pointless or out of place, the myriad of pop culture gags actually helped to move the story along at a brisk pace rather then used as a way to pad things out while waiting for the next plot point to come up.

And it was also nice to see there was actual reasoning behind the way the story played out the way it did. It wasn't just, Bloo was bored so he randomly decides to make this story up as he goes along...blah blah blah, boring.

So all in all, this was another great episode, and that's all there is to it.

ptps 09-17-2007 06:34 AM

I DIED. XDDDDDD This episode is so terrible, and in the BEST WAY.

pitbulllady 09-20-2007 03:32 AM

This just hit me...OK, not literally, but in a "why didn't I think of that earlier" way-I've been wracking my brain trying to recall what that opening scene from this episode reminded me of, with the Bloo Superdude riding through the desert on his "Hog", with that severed doll head dangling from the handlebars. My first inclination was the post-Apocalyptic world of Mad Max, but that still didn't seem accurate. Last night, in bed, my long-term memory finally kicked in, and I realized what that scene(the baby doll head especially)reminded me of. Anyone seen the Nick Cage/Holly Hunter movie, Raising Arizona? Remember the bounty hunter dude? He rode a big Harley, was huge and muscular(played by "Tex" Cobb), wore a sort of armor plated outfit, and had a severed doll head hanging from the bike's handlebars, just like Bloo!

pitbulllady

Sparky 09-20-2007 02:54 PM

Yeah I love that movie (great soundtrack too). The doll head made me think of it, although I wasn't sure if maybe Raising Arizona had borrowed that from some other, earlier movie. He had a pair of bronze baby shoes too right or am I thinking about another movie?
