Let's see here:

Foster's Home
The Simpsons
Ben 10
Teen Titans
SpongeBob Squarepants
Fairly Odd Parents
Friends
Happy Tree Friends
South Park
What's new Scooby Doo?

To name a few....

Lynnie 10-25-2007 07:17 PM

Alrighty then, here's mine

Friends
Code Lyoko
Roswell
Entertainment Tonight
Smallville
Fresh Prince of Bel Aire
Scrubs
ER
Mad About You
Camp Lazlo
Codename: KND
And of course an obvious one that I shouldn't even have to mention, and I'm still ticked that it's cut short now. :scaryberry:

jekylljuice 10-26-2007 06:22 AM

Other than Foster's? Let's see...

Hill Street Blues
Frasier (Tossed Salad and Scrambled Eggs...I have the full version on my mp3 player :D)
The Raccoons (both the "Evergreen Forest" intro and the "Run With Us" outro)
The Twilight Zone
Top Cat
Animaniacs
Freakazoid

A painfully short list, but that's all that comes to mind right now. I'll stick the Fresh Prince of Bel Air theme on the end for old time's sake...there was a time when I could recite the whole thing word for word. Haven't seen the show itself for a while now, so the holes in my memory are getting a little bigger. I guess some time I should head over to Youtube and rejuvenate it.

Vampyre 10-26-2007 12:22 PM

Mine are:

Foster's
Ben 10 (I sit and watch until the theme tune finishes, then I shut it off; I hate that show)
Friends
Spongebob Squarepants
Fairly Odd Parents
Drake and Josh

And I think that's about it...

I really hate Ben 10, but it it has an awesome theme tune, seriously.

How could I forget about the Racoons? I grew up on that classic. "Run With Us" was a great song.:D

WiltsAKGirl17 11-13-2007 08:44 PM

Here are mine, no real "order" here:

- The Addams Family-- how can you NOT love this one?! It's funny, cute, catchy... It's #3 on my Top 25 iTunes
- M*A*S*H-- Both instrumental and vocal, I love this song.
- Star Trek-- The orginal one is really catchy and vintage awesome.
- Sar Trek: The Next Generation-- Very dignified, which suits the show to a T.
- Star Trek: Voyager-- This is probably the most majestic of the series' themes.
- Emergency!-- It's peppy, upbeat and great to wiggle around in your chair to. (Oh, wait. I'm the only one who does that. Never mind...)
- Foster's-- Obviously enough...
- Welcome Back, Kotter
- Family Guy
- American Dad
- Boston Legal
- The Andy Griffith Show

And that's all I got.

xxxClaire 11-14-2007 02:20 PM

I also forgot to mention Invader Zim. I love that song.

Invader Bloo 11-17-2007 06:23 AM

Simpsons, FTW.

jekylljuice 02-10-2008 02:47 AM

Wow. I'm not sure how it happened, but I somehow managed to miss out the theme tune to Blockbusters when composing my previous list. This beautiful little piece of orchestration completely blew my mind at the age of five, and I still regard it as one of the finest of its kind:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kKhnV...eature=related

Bless you, Bob Holness. British TV just isn't the same without your wit and wisdom.

Partymember 02-10-2008 12:32 PM

The Venture Brothers has great music throughout

jekylljuice 02-27-2008 02:52 AM

Here's another one: I really like the closing theme song to Red Dwarf. I prefer it to the instrumental opening version, since in a strange kind of way I find the lyrics to be somewhat emotional. Here they are:

Its cold outside,
There's no kind of atmosphere,
I'm all alone,
More or less.
Let me fly,
Far away from here,
Fun, fun, fun,
In the sun, sun, sun.

I want to lie,
Shipwrecked and comatose,
Drinking fresh,
Mango juice,
Goldfish shoals,
Nibbling at my toes,
Fun, fun, fun,
In the sun, sun, sun,
Fun, fun, fun,
In the sun, sun, sun.

Always manages to stir something in me.

Yeh it's about hopeless causes and beautifully sung by Claire Grogan from Gregory's Girl.

jekylljuice 03-21-2008 12:51 PM

Oh wait, we have yet another addition to my list of glaring omissions.

In this case the wounded party is Lovejoy. I love this quaint little theme tune, it brings back so many memories for me.

taranchula 03-21-2008 01:48 PM

Wow so many to choose from, I'll have to split it up into different sections.

Today it's:

Sitcoms. (Ten of my Favorites, in no particular order)

Sanford and Son: Quincy Jones is one of the greatest musical talents of all time and it shows in this unforgetable intro song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1WqazleR3FE

Night Court: Mike Post puts the bass guitar and saxaphone to good use in awesome beyond words intro song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WRCggZ3GQU

The Jeffersons: When I eventually "Move On Up" this is the song I'll be playing.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kb6ErLPt4t8

Cheers: Making your way in the world today takes everything you got....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPx1l...eature=related

The Simpsons: Wether you like the show or you don't you have to admit the theme is the epitomy of "sitcom" (Plus how can you hate a theme that slightly changes every week.)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brh6KRvQHBc
(These are the special live action credits, first seen on British TV.)

Welcome Back Kotter: Welcome back your dreams were your ticket out...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u3pEy...eature=related
(This was the only version of the song, I could find on Youtube....aw well a little Naruto never hurt anyone.)

Get Smart: Almost missed the list, by "this" much. :p
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvMj5LuT5hk

M*A*S*H: This song works so much better without the lyrics. IMHO

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akfIaeFDfX4

South Park: Primus rocks...oh yes they do, they do indeed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6268nvdiqso

The Muppet Show: In the immortal words of Kermit the Frog Yaaaaaaaaaaaaay!

I'm glad to see I'm not the only Primus fan here. Any band that has "PRIMUS SUCKS" as their slogan is awesome in my book.

anyway,

The Adventures of Pete and Pete
:
Well, actually, Pete and Pete's soundtrack as a whole. Polaris, Drop Nineteens, Apples in Stereo, Chug, The Magnetic Fields, There were so much great indie bands that contributed to music to that show and I would've never heard of them if it wasn't for Pete and Pete.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=LBq_dU1ltIs&feature=related

Sealab 2021:
SEEEEEALAAAAAB, UNDERNEATH THE WAAAATER. I never actually got into this show (Never actually sat down and watched an episode, but I love all the other Williams Street shows so I might check it out) but I love the theme song oh so much.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=k5SiJM4sbqI

Home Movies:
Another great Adult Swim show. I'm a big fan, can't you tell by my avatar? Again, this is one of those shows that had a kick-awesome soundtrack. Brendon Small is a musical virtuoso whose talents should not be ignored. The link i'm about to post isn't the Home Movies theme, but an instrumental song that played at the end of one episode. Very ambient stuff.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ZapMIrDJxSA

The Weird Al Show:

This song is basically Weird Al's sense of humor in a nutshell.
YEAH YEAH, YEAH YEAH

There's not a snowball's chance in hell anyone here will know any of these:

Cassini90125 03-21-2008 04:53 PM

Here's a favorite nobody's mentioned, or likely even heard of. Jayce & the Wheeled Warriors, an obscure 1980's anime, was an all-time favorite of mine, both the theme and the show. It was nothing more than a promotional vehicle for a line of toys that flopped disasterously but I enjoyed it immensely and still have a lot of the episodes on tape. :)

Diamond Duchess 03-21-2008 08:39 PM

In the spirit of obsessive log ins and silly posts, I'll throw my two cents into this thread well containing great theme songs. Here goes!

Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends: The token response, but in spite of that, it really is a captivating and memorable theme that fits the show.

Ben 10: Infectiously catchy song here. It hooks on and doesn't let go, that's how catchy it is.

Chowder: What an endearing and lively intro tune. Nice.

Garfield and Friends: A nostalgic, personal favorite of mine: Always good to hear it.

The Soup: Ditto, minus the nostalgic part.

The Fairly Oddparents: It reminds me of a musical bit from an old Hollywood movie: Very dramatic, bold and flashy.

I know there's more, but I can't think of them right now.

frankie_fan 03-21-2008 08:47 PM

I'd like to add my own anime favourite (after seeing Cass' post) and post this which I don't think anyone has heard of:

Steel Angel Kurumi

It's is SUCH a catchy tune and a great anime in its own right. I really enjoyed it.

Cassini90125 03-21-2008 09:09 PM

Very catchy indeed! :D

Mr. Marshmallow 03-22-2008 08:48 PM

Since Youtube's use has come into play here, I'll be more then happy to toss in some of my own personal favorites. Most of which are anime and I think whether you guys like anime or not, will find these to be EXTREMELY catchy:

Ghost Stories

Good lord, i can listen to this song for hours. Every time I hear it, I wanna get up and dance to it, its so very catchy and upbeat.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=HOXsUoLgWu0

Mahoromatic

One of my favorite animes of all time, this song has a kind of sweet but sad thing going on with it. Its a very touching song in my opinion, just by the tone of it.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=9tgpjftgA68

Sonic X

To be frank, the show was okay in the beginning but all in all i thought it sucked bad. However the opening theme was INSANELY catchy despite the fact 90% of Sonic X fans despised it. Call me crazy but I find it to be very catchy.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=JIJYnhWultM

King of Bandit Jing

This is a really weird, very exotic anime but it has by far one of the BEST opening anime theme songs I have ever heard in my life. Once your hear it, I guarantee you'll want an MP3 of it.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=bhedJwobHQY

Buffy the vampire slayer

Say what you will about this cult show, I find it hard to dislike its theme song. Its so strong and so fast I feel its such a great tune to bang your head to. Ignore the fact its a DBZ parody video and trust me, I think you'll like this song.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=JxYjj-svgJY

Bucky O'Hare

I'm the sole surviving fan of this cartoon show, no one knows it existed more or less or its freaking cool theme song. The lyrics are more complex and mouthful then your average quick lyrical sounding songs and it has a bit of rock to it so I think you'll like it. At the very least it allows me the guilty pleasure of spreading Bucky's awareness to a few more people online ;D.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=k6Mh7hhaqhk

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers

With the exception of Inspector Gadget included, I really feel this is one of the greatest most iconic and well made TV theme songs EVER made.

You're not alone, I too was quite fond of the adventures of the Intergalltic Irish Rabbit (Yeah of course he's Irish, the name and green fur totally give it away. 8D ) and his merry band of do gooders.

I mean how can anyone hate on a starship crew that consists of a psychic cat, giant baboon, a robot and a four armed duck with a new york accent....There was some human guy as well (Willy, I think his name was) but I didn't care much for him.

The Nintendo game was pretty cool too, even though is was fling your controller through the TV styled hard.

The game was NOT easy, I could never beat it I only got like half way then always died. Willy Duwitt is the name of the human and at first I disliked him too but in truth, I can't really hate him seeing as how he has lived out one of my all American dreams: meeting/interacting with live cartoon characters.

His very role in entering the show is a dream come true for me, and I especially loved the fact that geeky Willy actually got some brownie points going on with the psychic cat girl, Jenny. Now THERE is someone I clap my hands to. Anyone who scores with a toon is okay in my book :-*.

The show was VERY short but VERY detailed, the animation was seriously beyond its time. I particularly loved the unique and bad ass looking villains. Their appearances were so creative and colorfully unique. Al Negator, Toadborg, Komplex and the Toad Air Marshal. :slybendy: ahhh good times.

frankie_fan 03-22-2008 10:34 PM

I may have already mentioned this at the beginning of this thread, but I'll explain my reasons:

Inspector Gadget

Like Mr. Marshmallow said, this is probable one of the greatest theme songs ever, if not the greatest cartoon theme song ever. A classic show should have a classic theme, and Inspector Gadget is no exception!

Upon listening to it, you already know that it's a classic theme, and it works really well with the opening animation. I could explain it a bit more, but that's all to say about this. A brilliant, well-made theme!

taranchula 03-23-2008 08:32 AM

Well with Bucky O Hare and Inspector Gadget already covered that saves me the trouble of posting them on my latest list of TV theme songs I enjoy, because todays theme is AMERICAN (In America) Animated program themes.

(BTW The Theme for for FHFIF is not on this list because I want to shine the spotlight on other toon themes, and besides if I wan't to talk about how awesome the Foster's theme is, I can just make a thread for that.)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: One of the most recognizable and awesomest 80's toon themes out there, the kind of song where every beat note and lyric oozes pure attitude. Turtle Power!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Zc2u5-h540

Batman Beyond: One of the very few "next gen" shows that actaully works and while it doesn't fully surpass the original Batman: The Animated Series, it comes pretty darn close. (Plus you gotta love Bruce Wayne as a cranky old man.) The rocking theme played against one of the coolest and stylelistic openings ever totally sets the mood and tone of the show perfectly.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FlobF...eature=related

The Tick: Normally when you think about your average super hero theme the last thing that comes to your mind is "Scat Singing", but the Tick is far from your average superhero. And this theme song is far from average too.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cUW0lj5CfuQ

Freakazoid: And speaking of Superhero Parody shows...any theme song that mentions Sigmund Freud and Floyd The Barber deserves to be on my list.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9iF96...eature=related

Animaniacs: The Warner Brother love continues, with this classic theme.
Zany to the max...indeed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lga3KNKqRDc

Bump in the Night: And while we are on the subject of Rob Paulsen...yep he was in this 1994 claymation show along with fellow voice acting legend Jim Cummings. The theme song is so infectious that it gets stuck in your brain and doesn't want to let go, no matter how hard you try...hence why it's on mah list.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PaQ27Hu8ix0

Spongebob Squarepants: Weather you like the show or don't, that's irrelvent. But you have to admit this is one catchy tune.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoE7IerSXZo

Commercial Break

Now what's number eight on my list? Why it's...

G.I Joe: And know you know, and knowing is half the battle.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DN034sBeF4c
(Special extended movie edition of the theme.)

Futurama: Welcome to the world of toooooooooomorrow.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1cYgqSdjMTk

The Powerpuff Girls: You know that show that one guy did, before he went off made that other show that we all seem to like and stuff. Yeah it had pretty good theme music too. ;)

Batman Beyond is EXCELLENT, that is a magnificent theme song. Very hard edge and I felt it was a brilliant show to boot. Everyone made too big a deal of comparing it directly to the original Batman, which is kind of unfair because no Batman toon will ever truly compare to the superb first animated series.

The Tick was a weird one, it was jazzy and funny at the same time. I always thought all those weird "da da dwee dah" lyrics was just them being goofy. Some of my other favorite US TV openings include:

Godzilla the series: Very dark, cool melodramatic music. Some really neat visuals with the monsters attacking in the intro, and for just instrumental music I felt it made for a very great TV tune.

http://youtube.com/watch?v=aQENCPSCVjg

Attack of the killer tomatoes: You wanna talk about memorable songs? This one just screams catchyness. Its goofy, funny, and SO damn addicting to listen to. Never get tired of hearing it.

1960's Spider-Man! They should of used it in the movie besides the credits.
1980's Transformers, same above. Except it wasn't even used in the credits.

Mr_Bloo_Veins 04-02-2008 06:34 AM

The Jimmy Neutron theme is pretty kickass too, considering it was performed by Man Or Astroman.

coleman360 04-09-2008 06:49 AM

Foster's (obviously) and The X Files

Nathander 04-09-2008 10:20 PM

Does anyone else remember the WB cartoon "Detention"? I loved that cartoon, and I personally believe it had a great theme song.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27IxAlmijno

As for anime television shows, some of my favorites include:

The opening for the original Hellsing anime. While the OVA series is superior to the original anime in most regards, the one thing it lacks is the fantastic soundtrack of the original effort.

Another fantastic opening is that for GetBackers, or rather, the second opening them, "Rose Colored World".

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=81o9JSQiSsw

Another is the opening for Princess Tutu, which I consider to be the BEST magical girl series ever made.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KsipExvcHgM

I've added links to the actual opening videos where I could, as I think it helps to here them and see the images associated with them. I've refrained from posting the one for Hellsing, as it probably would brake the forum's rules for the content that can be posted, as it easily exceeds a PG rating in its imagery.

Mr_Bloo_Veins 04-10-2008 05:24 PM

I forgot about another great one, CLONE HIGH.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=_ZFdz2vwU20

I found a full episode of this show on Google Video, and it reminded me of how awesome that show was. Any show that features Marilyn Manson performing Schoolhouse Rock-esque musical numbers about the food pyramid is amazing in my book.

and the theme song is awesome.

some guy you dont know 04-10-2008 05:37 PM

home movies. that song is really catchy. and the show is also pretty awsome.

malcom in the middle. i love they might be giants. and this song is cool.

futurama. i love the way it sounds.

and about a million others that i just cant think of right now.

also, that clone high show looks pretty cool. im going to go look it up.

Heh, just an itty bitty bit of a bump.

I really like the theme song for "Ben Ten: Alien Force". It's basically a remake of sorts of the original "Ben Ten" theme, but the instrumental pieces sound so great, and even beautiful. It's great at gearing the watcher up for some excitement.

And PBS's "Masterpiece Theatre". Such a timeless classical piece. It's no secret, I love classical music, so much of it is an ageless piece of world history, going back hundreds of years, and Mouret's Rondeau is certainly one of my favorites.

I totally agree, that's a great opening theme song. I'm not too big of a fan on the show though. Saw two episodes. One was pretty good, other turned out to be kind of bleh so I kind of lost interest.

Even though the show ended up getting sucky, I LOVED the "Animorphs" theme song. Its probably my personal favorite TV theme of all time.
