I've occassionally had crushes on cartoon characters. Not necessarily infatuation as much as thinking the character was simply cute. However, I can't say I've ever truly loved a character, if just for the fact that I don't believe in romantic love in general.

I'm not personally offended, CG. And if there was any confusion, my last post was in response to Jabberwocky's post.

Care to elaborate ;)? I'm all ears.

It's more interesting to here why people like the toon girls or guys that they like rather then who they are.

Well I always kinda liked him but as I kept watching the show and he started to appear more I got more attracted... >.> I also like him because he is extremly great ninja he uses explosive-based jutsu's using clay! (ehm art is a bang...). He is also an akatsuki a group of powerful criminals... yey!

Pawbah 04-01-2007 03:20 PM

There are quite a few guys out there in the cartoon world that I am/was attracted to. Even when I was small I really liked certain cartoon characters........ some weren't even human. One of my friends is totally disgusted with this. He has told me over and over that cartoon characters can't be hot, handsome or beautiful. I disagree.
What I like about cartoon guys: Bravery, honesty, and chivalry. Also, some of them are just hot and if they carry a large sword and kick a lot of butt then they get even more awesome points. 8D

Mr. Marshmallow 04-01-2007 03:45 PM

Since you mentioned "guys" being plural, meaning more then one.

Care to give us a few names for your cartoon hot list Paw?

Pawbah 04-01-2007 04:08 PM

Alright a few, because if I listed them all we would be here a while. A lot of them are from animes. In no particular order:
Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke
Howl from Howl's moving castle
.... Pretty much any guy from a studio ghibli film actually.
Future Trunks and Goku from DBZ
Kyo and Hatsuharu from Fruits Basket
Cloud from Final Fantasy
Kenshin from Ruroni Kenshin
Kurogane from Tsubasa
Bruce Wayne from Batman. The Character of Batman is just extremely attractive to me actually.
Terry Mcginnis from Batman Beyond
NightCrawler from x-men (that's a weird one, I know 8D )
Wolverine from X-men
Captain Li Shang from Mulan
Ah I can't think of anymore off the top of my head. Plus I'm making myself blush like crazy by typing all those out. Yeah, I'm done now.

Mr. M...... You changed your Avatar....... That really surprised me. 8D

pitbulllady 04-03-2007 04:55 AM

It's a real relief to know that I'm not alone in finding certain animated characters attractive, or for that matter, that I'm not even in that much of a minority! I still catch a LOT of flack, though, from people who just can't comprehend how anyone can find an animated character attractive, especially a character that isn't even human. Both of the characters that I find especially appealling are non-human-sentient in the same way that we are, yes, but definately not human. I'm kinda perplexed by it myself, really. I mean, if I try to analyze Wilt's physical features(that famous smile notwithstanding) as they compare to the corresponding features of a human male, I honestly can't explain just why it is that I find him so attractive. Obviously, though, I am not alone!

antgirl1 04-03-2007 09:00 AM

I just checked out the Super-Duper Crappy Picture of Wilt I did like 3 years ago, the first piece I ever put on DA, and in the first sentence, it stated I was a "big FAN of Wilt"...Technically I never was a fangirl. XDDD

It's actually interesting that I feel the same way. There's quite a few non human toon females that I am deeply drawn to, most I find are even emotionally attractive and I find myself liking alot more even beyond simple physical beauty attraction. I certainly don't find it "wrong" or disgusting.

If a person can be attracted to an animated human, changing the species really shouldn't be considered that much of a drastic difference. Probably my biggest non human toon crushes would belong to Bunnie Rabbot of Sonic the hedgehog, and Fifi La Fume from tiny Toons.

Bunnie's southern accent and gentle nature are impossible for me to resist, and I really feel for Fifi being someone who can't find true love no matter how hard she tries. Plus, I LOVE the color purple and she just seems like such a sweet girl in my eyes, human or not.

AerostarMonk 04-03-2007 05:14 PM

Wow, I used to think I was a real oddball because I've been attracted to cartoon characters all my life. Now I see, that I'm not as alone as I had thought.

Mr. Marshmallow 04-03-2007 07:28 PM

This thread's existence is prove enough that it's not some form of insanity Monk. If people still doubt cartoon attraction exists, I have two words for you: Jessica Rabbit.

Cartoon characters have flaunted their sexuality long before the internet came online. Animaniacs alone has featured Dot, Minerva Mink, and Hello Nurse flaunting sexuality through out the show.

People draw females a certain way to gain attraction, attraction that is usually drawn from the main male or hero character, and vise versa. If sexuality didn't exist with cartoon characters, no one could relate to the toon that's in love.

We feel for romances because we enjoy seeing how one toon ends up with another, and what better way to feel for a romance then to understand the romance, and try to relate to the reason for the romance in the first place.

AerostarMonk 04-03-2007 08:09 PM

I've always been attracted to mousier and geekier characters of animation. I don't know what it is.

Mr. Marshmallow 04-03-2007 09:40 PM

I never really found a general "type" of toon girl, I just end up liking who I like. As they say, you can't help who you fall in love with but I don't mean love as in the obsession kind. Anyways, anime girls however I have a rather strange "type".

I don't know why but I am always attracted to the hard ass, tough girls of anime. I really can't figure out why I am attracted to them because I don't like that in women and it's nice the kind of person I am. Yet I still feel attracted to them.

Anime girls like Kei from Dirty Pair Flash, Videl from Dragon Ball Z, Polly Ester from Samurai Pizza cats. For some reason anime girls of that nature seem to catch my eye. But mainly it varies from toon to toon.

AerostarMonk 04-03-2007 10:06 PM

Yeah, I get what you're saying. There are other types that I've found attractive. But there's just something about the sorta shy outsider geek types. It just really gets me right there.

Pawbah 04-04-2007 12:52 AM

The kind of guys I like can vary, but from just looking at my own list I made, I apparently like some really tough guys. Anyone who can fight it looks like. That kind of surprises me because I don't view myself as that kind of person. How strange.
You know what else I think is odd. If you look up top hot cartoon characters on yahoo, all you get is a bunch of guys talking about the cartoon women that they like. It's not easy to find a list of top male cartoon characters. Why is that?

Cassini90125 04-04-2007 01:01 AM

I've noticed that as well. I don't have a good explanation for it.

Voxxyn 04-04-2007 01:28 AM

There is one fansite I know which is devoted to love/attraction of cartoon characters. There is a page in which they can see a long list which shows people's cartoon crushes with explanations, which the site refers to as "harems". All users are free to create their own "harem" page listing their favorite cartoon guys/girls.

Many of the harems and members on that site's forum are females who talk about their favorite animated guys(mainly anime), but there are males as well. In fact, it's one of the friendliest communities I've ever known.

Here's the link... and don't let the name fool you, it's for all ages.

(I really should become active there again... I actually have an old harem there, which was before I fell in love with Frankie...)

Pawbah 04-04-2007 10:37 AM

Wow, that page has everything. Even my childhood crushes. Ashitaka has a nice little page on there :D.
I didn't see Foster's though.

Mr. Marshmallow 04-04-2007 10:49 AM

I've seen that page too, it's pretty good with it's wide variety of toons to adore, though the site seems to be missing the "heart" of real attraction from one person to a toon. But that's just me. I wanted to say this while it's fresh in my mind, I just left a lunch table at my university near some girls.

Behind me, I heard the girls discussing a situation that was occuring with a guy that was really into one girl and this same girl already had a boyfriend. The funny thing is, alot of her sentences usually ended up having the words "get wasted" and "slept with him" attached to it.

I listened to this girl talk how obsessive this guy was and made his attraction to her was something so casually passive, she didn't even register any kind of empathy towards this guy. Now I can't say for sure I know the whole story being just a simple eavesdropper, but I still got quite a big visual aid.

It's situations like these that I actually slap myself in the face and remind myself just why I am attracted to toon girls in the first place: they are NOT that cold or careless about things as serious as affection and most of all, sex. My personal view on sex is that it's something very, very sacred.

It's something I wouldn't do unless it was with someone I cared for deeply, but hearing this conversation, it just made me ill to hear someone toss it around so flippantly and have such a bleak view on someone's feelings for her. You never would hear a toon doing something as cold as this.

I've seen so many TV shows my brain practically has become a TV show, and I can't recall one toon be it anime or american made that has ever stacked up such a vulgar, careless display of things as critical as sex and love in my live. That's cause toons aren't as infatuated with sex, drugs, and etc.

They are simple and that is one of the things that I've fallen in love with, their simplicity. There are no dark doors hidden in their lives, there are no addictions, or unfaithfil misdeeds lurking in their closets. They have a powerful sense of morality, one that seems to be vacant in alot of people.

They have a sense of decency and honesty. Some people may consider that sappy or kiddish, I see it as something to admire, to respect, and most of all, to cherish. Frankie and Dylan are a perfect example of how decent, good natured people compare to sleaze bags who take love so carelessly.

I'd give both my arms and legs to spend one date with someone as decent as say Gadget from rescue rangers, or Misty from Pokemon, or Lola Bunny from Looney Toons. Because I assure you, that one date would be more honest, more truthful, and more sincere then a million dates with women I've actually dated.

It disgusts me to think that such shallow people continue to destroy and taint something as beautiful and wonderful as love in our world, and it also makes me happy to know that while I may never hold Frankie in my arms or taste her kiss, I have at least one bit of honest affection to look back on fondly.

Pawbah 04-04-2007 11:14 AM

That was truly beautiful Mr. M. Thank you. Nothing I can say can add to that. All I can say is that I agree with you completely.

Damn brother! You sure know a lot of women!

seriously, though, are all the chicks at my school either gnarly or mean? What gives? :(

AerostarMonk 04-04-2007 04:31 PM

Lucky you. I've never even had a date. Too scared to pipe up and say something to most people.

No, what I mean by "millions" I mean by millions of dates, not women. As in, I would rather have a single date with a toon then get a chance to have millions of dates with any RL girl I know personally.

AerostarMonk 04-04-2007 07:06 PM

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean. Real-life people are often unpleasant. At least to me, anyway.

I don't know about that; cartoon characters are in essence based off of people, and some people are like that. Some toons are heartless "sexy" succubus types and some kill people for entertainment. Just like real life!

....unless you're talking about cartoon shows as a whole and not the characters specifically, but still.

I do agree that that's depressing to hear, though. It's really sad when significant things in life get thrown around like they're meaningless.

Mr. Marshmallow 04-04-2007 11:00 PM

I do mean cartoons as a whole plus considering the fact cartoons are our creations, we design them to be like that. Cartoons are created and molded from our own imaginations, our ideas, and an idea is always easier to change. However a mean person is a mean person, and nothing will change that.

I'm not saying I'd rather live my life in a fantasy world with toon women instead of real ones. I'm just saying when you actually see what majority of cartoon characters stand for morality wise and respect, you'll find alot more to like then you would compared to the majority of the people you meet.

It's just very serene for me to know that reality can't destroy certain what's in my heart or in my imaginations, just like it can't destroy the toons I enjoy. They can censor them, silence them, or not sell them anymore, but they can't destroy or remove the joy and comfort they have brought me over the years.

AerostarMonk 04-04-2007 11:15 PM

Thanks, I appreciate it but everything I say is nothing special it's just straight from my my heart: uncensored and unedited. One of the reasons I love this forum so much is the freedom to express my true feelings about things without being persecuted or mocked.

I really don't think there are alot of boards out there that would accept a thread like this, or even if they did, would have as many people being honest about such an issue like this. It's comforting to know I have that freedom to express my true feelings here.

having just seen Voxxyn;s avvy...it reminded me how awesome Samus is. She's packin' some SERIOUS heat, and she looks good in a bikini. Is nice.

Voxxyn 04-11-2007 12:38 PM

Samus was once my #1 fictional love. I used to think about her all the time like I now do with Frankie. She's very different from all the other girls I love, and yet I find her intensely compelling and attractive. She's 'hardcore' in terms of her powers, but she isn't an annoying "I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR" type nor is she depicted in sleazy clothing for cheap sex appeal(the 'best endings' of the 2-D Metroid games depicting Samus in a bikini are really tame compared to DOA Volleyball or Bloodrayne). She has a sense of integrity and professionalism that's absent in many other gaming heroines.

And she's so interesting as a character, even though very little is actually known about her. She's ruthless and godlike as a warrior, and yet I find her sympathetic and even slightly tragic from what's been revealed of her past. And, despite the seediness associated with bounty hunters, I feel that Samus has a very strong sense of morality; there are certain moments in the games that do a wonderful job in humanizing her. I know some will disagree on that(I've seen plenty of fanfics that portray her as heartless and cruel), but I personally believe that there's more to her than mass destruction of everything in sight.

That's a really interesting look on Samus Vox  I honestly never thought of her in that way.

Yeah brother, a sexy pirate chick who posseses almost Conan-like (or certainly Valeria-like) powers as she wades through alien gore with a plasma rifle in full body armor. Totally hot.
