Seriously....why him?

He was one of my favorite comedians.

Yuh, this suprised me a lot. I knew he had heart problems a while ago, but, this was totally unexpected. He was an awesome guy. Lots of funny Comedy HBO shows. RIP, George Carlin. :'(

So, while I didn't necessarily care for him, per se, he was a genuine icon and innovator of a genre I love, and he'll be dearly missed.

Edit: Maybe I should elaborate. While I won't get into detail upon the factors as to why I had a hard time stomaching some of Carlin's work, I wouldn't call him a bad man, so please don't take that out of my post. What I'm attempting to say is, that while I may not have necessarily liked Carlin himself, I have the utmost respect for him as a comedian and entertainer. I don't think anyone could conceivably argue that Carlin hasn't, in some way, touched several lives if even slightly through his humor.

I get what you're saying. I couldn't stomach everything he said, either, but he's made some interesting points at the same time and has influence a lot of folks. Aside from Carlin's comedy routines, I will not forget his role on the two Bill & Ted films as 'Rufus'.

Why did I only hear this through NF? This is big, bad news. He was a great man who influenced a great many and will be much missed.

Yeah, exactly. I didn't like all of his humor, but what I did like I LOVED. Something amusing is that CNN had a poll today.

Shouldn't there be an option for both?

I just heard about this in the car about an hour ago. :( Vulgarity and shocking humor are far from all Carlin did. He did a lot of animated voices (I love Zugor from Tarzan II) as well as children's TV (Shining Time Station). Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure is still one of my favorite movies. And some of his comedy skits were clean (such as "Refrigerator Man", I believe was the title).

RIP. :sadbendy:

His Baseball vs. Football routine was absolutely hilarious, and clean enough to be posted on this forum.

Despite his bashing the 10 commandments during one of his shows, I still hope that the almighty goes easy on George.

some guy you dont know 06-23-2008 04:54 PM
