I am surprised that Alvin and The Chipmunks is even being considered at all, it's not a full length animated feature. It's a live action/animated picture.

YAY! Shrek won't win this year!
I see this being what we'll see:
Ratatouille (Which will probably win)
The Simpsons Movie (Which I want to win)
Bee Movie or Surf's Up

I personally haven't seen most of those movies, the only ones I did see are the Aqua teen Hunger Force movie, Simpsons movie, Ratatouille, and TMNT. To be perfectly honest the movies I think SHOULD be in the stupid ass small 3 available slots are Ratatouille, TMNT, and Beowulf.

Now I have not seen Beowulf nor do I plan to but from what I see the movie looks like a visual feast of kick ass animations, and I trust Zemeckis seeing as how he is a kick ass director. I believe Ratatouille and Shrek the 3rd have the best chances of winning (despite I've heard Shrek was craptacularly bad).

I thought TMNT was fantastic and I hope that makes it in the top 3, I felt that was such a better constructed movie in story, characters, and voice acting. Surfs up looked completely stupid if you asked me. It looked like an unintelligent mess of cheap, uninteresting characters and a plot that sounds superbly lame.

However, even though I'm pretty positive Aqua teen will not even be in the top 3, if it does, I will laugh my ass off uncontrollably because if anyone has seen that movie its hilarious to think a movie with THAT kind of content is in nominational status with the likes of Pixar and such 8D.

No they don't. And if it was purely Disney, than Meet the Robinsons would win, not Ratatouille, which is a Pixar film.

I would likt to see TMNT nominated, but that's just because I am me.

Currently, every Best Animated Feature Oscar which "Disney" have won is owed to their underlings down at Pixar. Here are all the winners from years gone by (bearing in mind that this is still a relatively recent catagory). Let me know if I've gotten anything wrong.

2002: Shrek (Dreamworks)
2003: Spirited Away (Studio Ghibli)
2004: Finding Nemo (Pixar)
2005: The Incredibles (Pixar)
2006: Wallace and Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit (Aardman)
2007: Happy Feet (Animal Logic)

Overall, a more eclectic list than you might imagine. Of those six choices, I'm in agreement with four. I still haven't seen Happy Feet (or Monster House for that matter), so the most recent outcome remains undecided for me. How Shrek managed to trump Monsters Inc, however, is something I anticipate will be lost on me until the day I die. I'm aware that it happened at the height of Shrek's popularity (something which I never really got into), but still...

I was being sarcastic in my post!::)

And the final nominees are (according to IMDB, which as a rule I generally steer clear from):

Persepolis
Ratatouille :yeah:
Surf's Up

Excellent work, my dear Remy. I'll be rooting for you all the rest of the way. I haven't seen Persepolis, but Surf's Up was nothing too extraordinary in my opinion.

EDIT: Ratatouille got nominated for best original screenplay, best sound editting and best music too. Hurrah! :yeah:

jekylljuice, those are, in fact, the final nominations. I was watching the nomination thing on TV right before I left for school. Well done for Ratatouille: Picked for best original screenplay, best sound editing, best music and best animated film.

Amazing. I'll be rooting for our dear Remy all the way too, and I hope the film wins all those awards. That'd be great! :D

Well given the nominations, it looks like Pixar will once more be tasting the sweet nectar of victory.

If not only for the fact Ratatouille was a great movie but also when you take into consideration its competition.

While Persepolis is a very good movie in it's own right, it may be considered a little too edgy for the academy to give the award to given the subject matter of the film.
And while Surf's Up was a good film with a clever narrative device (IE the Mockumentuary format) I honestly do not see it making much headway either. (And after all an animated penguin feature won the award last year, I just can't see lightning striking twice for our black and white flippered friends.)
