Last night, a friend of mine and I went to see Ghost Rider. It was.......meh, to put it best, I suppose. The construction of the movie (that is, the way events moved and character development), were done fairly poorly, which surprised me considering how well the construction in these areas had been for the other Marvel movies that have been done.

Medikor 02-18-2007 02:10 PM

I just watched LOTR The Two Towers extended edition today. I'm looking forward to finding the time to watch ROTKED somtime soon.:D

jekylljuice 02-23-2007 07:15 AM

I saw The Prestige last night. It took me a while to get the hang of the narrative structure, but overall I thought it was a good thriller with some interesting science-fiction elements. The ending is seriously eerie, though...

Sievers 02-23-2007 07:58 AM

4 hours ago i've looked Conan the barbarian with Arnold Schwarzenegger:frankiesmile:

The Number 23

Nice! Very good movie, definitely not super confusing or super predictable. Carrey plays a serious role very well and I really am glad I saw this movie.

Invader Bloo 02-24-2007 07:15 PM

Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade. I literally just turned it off 2 minutes ago.
Best Indy film yet, hope the 4th is as good or better.8-)

Reno 911: Miami.

Rude, crude, and vulgar. Basically, everything I hoped from it. 8D

Howard 02-26-2007 07:32 AM

Badder Santa- DVD

FostersFriend 02-26-2007 09:09 AM

High School Musical, my cousins obsessed!! :p

Mr. Marshmallow 02-26-2007 01:36 PM

The Departed

I finally got my ass around to seeing it and DAMN that movie is long! Seriously, it was like 3 hours. But it was good, I can see why so many people gabbed about it so much. A little confusing at first but great story and great characters.

vannielou 02-26-2007 01:58 PM

Mr and Mrs Smith

A personal favorite of mine

Good show, I may see the movie.

The Great Dictator

Charlie Chaplin making fun of Hitler...funniest movie i've seen in a very long time.

Mr. Marshmallow 02-28-2007 11:31 PM

The Witches

An amazing, classical fantasy movie. Very under appreciated and it has the BEST make up effects I have ever seen.

Kale 03-01-2007 06:04 AM

Epic Movie

It was okay, but it just doesn't have the same quality to it as the rest of the movies have. The best bits were all shown in the commercial, the rest of the film was just...random.
But I must admit, seeing someone get hit from a random flying object makes me laugh everytime =D

Ooh, I remember going to see that film when it first came out and thinking it was the scariest movie ever (the book was actually more intense, but back then, sitting in a dark cinema and seeing the images on a giant screen was simply terrifying). What little kid in the early 90s, after seeing that film, didn't have that recurring nightmare in which the Grand High Witch was their babysitter? I know I did. My brother too.

Howard 03-01-2007 07:25 AM

Wings with Clara Bow (1927), a true classic (you can see a young Gary Cooper in this film).

Medikor 03-01-2007 08:48 AM

The LOTR: The Two Towers extended edition. Now I can see the one I've been waiting for. After that I can try and finaly watch Pirates of the Carrabian 2.:D

Mr. Marshmallow 03-01-2007 10:22 PM

The Prestige

Uhhhh I honestly....didn't like it. First it was slow and I could barely understand the dialogue under the accents, then it got REALLY good and really interesting. Then the ending came along and :P sorry to say but the "magic" was gone.

AerostarMonk 03-01-2007 10:43 PM

I really love The Prestige. I would buy it in a hot minute if I had the money. I would love to read the book as well. It's good stuff.

Speaking of The Witches, Guillermo Del Toro and Alfonso Cuaron are supposed to be remaking it. Those are two great choices but I don't see any reason to redo a perfect adaptation. Well, a near perfect adaptation. Dahl hated the ending

jekylljuice 03-02-2007 07:14 AM

I'd also be interested in reading the original Prestige novel, though I hear it's pretty different from the film, which i enjoyed. Naturally, the ending and its implications made my stomach churn, but I thought it fitted in well with the tone and thematics of the rest of the film.

The ending of the Witches never bothered me much as a kid (in fact, after 80 minutes of total terror I found it very warm and comforting), but it's easy to see why Roald Dahl would hate it. Too idealistic, I guess.

Howard 03-02-2007 09:06 AM

Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) with Lon Chaney and Patsey Miller.

Book or no book, that movie just really conked out on me at the end. I felt really disappointed with it because of that ending. Far as "Witches" goes, I loved the movie and even if Rold Dahl hated it, I thought it was a magnificent film.

I normally oppose remakes unless they are done properly, and it's only because Del Toro is the one BEHIND the remake that I am supporting it. I've seen three of his movies the last of which has been the amazing "Pan's Labrinyth".

So I feel fairly confident he could make the movie something truly worth watching, just to see how his dark imagination makes the movie alone is good enough for me. Even though I feel there's nothing wrong at all with the original.

Invader Bloo 03-02-2007 06:05 PM

Mouse Hunt
First time ever, it was a good movie. CN usually picks OK or good movies which is good well besides Re-animated.

Jabberwocky 03-02-2007 08:10 PM

David Bowie is in The Prestige! He's got a moustache! Just throwin that out there.

...

Uhh I watched the Lady and the Tramp.

I didn't recognise him. I'm so ashamed! :sadbendy: I did pick out Gil Chesterton from Frasier, though.

Anyhow, the last movie I watched was Deja Vu. So-so time travel stuff with the expected levels of brain-dead action. There's probably room for a lot of theorising upon just how many levels the space-time continuum was actually tampered with, but I really don't care to go into it.

Partymember 03-03-2007 09:54 PM

"The Patriot"...best movie ever made

Mel just killed that limey commander, the limeys retreated

God Bless America

Jabberwocky 03-04-2007 07:58 AM

Music & Lyrics.

Hugh Grant is soooo cute. I wish he and Sophie would have stayed friends though. The movie would have worked just as well if not better without the rrrrromantic rendezvous. The song and everything would have still fit but it would be more believable.

jekylljuice 03-04-2007 08:35 AM

Alien

Well, this film is a staple of classic horror/sci-fi, so it really needs no introduction. Ripley is a phenomenal heroine. Nonetheless, my favourite character has to be Jones the cat. 8-)

Poor John Hurt, though. I always have to avert my eyes during that particular scene... :wiltshock:

Invader Bloo 03-04-2007 11:27 AM

Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Mennace
I still think AOTC is worse than this movie.

Mr. Marshmallow 03-04-2007 01:33 PM

The Black Cauldron

I disagree on that Invader, "Clones" to me was infinitely better then "Phantom". Anywho. I finally got to see this rare disney film and I gotta say, it was VERY cool. Excellent animation, music, character designs.

A tad short but still an amazing Disney flick, one I'm glad I finally got the chance to see.

Howard 03-05-2007 07:31 AM

The Golden Child - on DVD with Eddie Murphy.

Mr. Marshmallow 03-08-2007 09:41 PM

The Great Mouse Detective

Another forgotten Disney classic, and a magnificent one at that. Vincent Price is amazing in this movie. "Detective" is so under appreciated.

Kale 03-09-2007 02:39 PM

Read It And Weep

The newest Disney Channel original movie - well over here at least. It was unbelievably corny, but was still cute and had great music.

Mr. Marshmallow 03-09-2007 03:48 PM

The 300

Great gobs of gore, this movie was very good. Messy but at the same time not dry or hollow like most "medevial" movies like Gladiator or Troy.

The movie looks like a living breathing comic book, excellent film all around. But be warned there's lots of half naked man and gallons of gore in it 8D.

Nathander 03-09-2007 08:08 PM

The 300

While not the most accurate Thermopylae, but a great movie. Mr. M basically summed it up nicely.

AerostarMonk 03-11-2007 01:01 PM

The Fifth Element. I keep forgetting what an awesome movie that is. I watched it on TNT so a lot of the little touches that I liked in the full version are lost. Such as Zorg saying his full name, or the ticked off cop at the McDonald's, or Korben's next door neighbor. It just gets better with age it seems. Too bad the sequel, Mr. Shadow, was never made.

Yeah I watched it today too, and noticed all those little great moments were yanked too.
