Sounds like it's maybe Memorial Day or Labor Day, as both are in "summer" land on Monday and there's no school, no mail, and no (regular) paper delivery. Wow, so we lost everything that happened before, and are now starting from the beginning? Sorry Cass. :sadbendy: Hope things go smoothly from now on.

Haha, I love Claire checking her reflection out in the mirror. And what did IL end up painting? :D

LOL! 8D :wiltshock:

Sims don't actually have any holidays. There are holiday decorations available but that's it. You can dress them up in holiday outfits and pose them with the decorations for photographs but it's for show only.

No losses this time, by the way; all memories and skills are intact. Only the calendar and the clock got changed. The house is slightly out of synch timewise with the rest of the neighborhood but that's it; it doesn't affect the game in any way. :)

Imaginary Light painted the same painting that Sparky did several pages back, which is the game's default painting at that skill level. The Sims 3 game will supposedly take personality into account for such creative endeavors and have more variety. We'll see eventually. As for Jimmy Montero... you don't want to know. 8D

As a side note, the newest expansion pack, called Free Time, has glitches, nearly as many as Bon Voyage did. No surprise there. What makes this situation a bit different is that the patch that EA released for the game was even worse; so bad in fact that that they pulled it from the site without explanation. Incompetence in action, sinking from sad to pathetic. :frankiemad:

Fomalhaut 04-06-2008 08:35 AM

Ow.

The mirror scene was cute; I've nevers seen my Sims do it, but I can imagine Gabe doing it... I need a doctor. Now. I'm having hallucinations!!!

Dress me as you wish I looked when we meet (as I hope one day we will), and it'll be okay. But nothing too revealing, right? (I never wear that kind of stuff anyway...)

xxxClaire 04-06-2008 11:59 AM

8D I can juggle! And I love the mirror thing.

Can't be. Sorry, but for some reason the game designers made it so only adults and occasionally elders get stuck on Welcome Wagon duty, and the game thinks Wilt is a teen, although we know he's not and I play him as an adult within the game's limits. Doesn't make much sense, really; if a house is full of teens I'd think including a teen on the Welcome Wagon would be a good idea. I have seen teens on the WW on three occasions, but all were probably the result of glitches.

The oufit is in your PM box but you already know that. I hope we meet one day, too.

Lameoid that I am, I trimmed the pic, shrank it, and turned it into an avatar.

The Welcome Wagon showed up promptly at 12:15 PM, and as noted above there was no Wilt:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y08.jpg

From the left: Madame Foster, Samira Marville (Stevie's mom), and Luanne McBride. No Amanda Blue for a change, either. Kind of disappointing for me, as I like Amanda. I like her a lot. She's even got her own storyline now, although it doesn't involve Foster's so you're not likely to see any of it. On the other hand it's just as well that she's not here, because whenever she turns up on a lot she's such an enormous distraction that I sometimes forget to take pics of anyone else. (Mind wanders...) Yeah. Jekylljuice went out to greet everyone and caught Luanne in the act of being rude:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y09.jpg

"Don't bother me, old woman," was her response to Madame Foster's greeting as she headed for the swings. Surprised, Madame Foster turned to Jekylljuice for an explanation:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y10.jpg

"What the heck was that about??" she asked. "Just ignore her," Jekylljuice replied. "She's got a temper and an attitude but she's okay if you stay out of her way. She's PO'd because she doesn't want to be here."
"She could've stayed home," said Madame Foster, annoyed.
"Not if the Bandrowskys ordered her here to keep an eye on us. Don't ask, I'm not supposed to talk about it. C'mon, let's go get some lunch. Lynnie's making chili!" With that she headed inside with Madam Foster close behind. Lynnie was indeed making chili:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y11.jpg

And quite a lot of it, too. Feeding ten people requires a lot of food. Don't ask me how she's managing to balance that bowl with just one hand; if I tried that I'd drop it long before I got anywhere near the dinner table. Madame Foster seated herself as some of the other residents hurried to join her. xxxClaire, however, needed some prodding:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y12.jpg

Jekylljuice: "Um, Claire, it's lunchti-"
xxxClaire: "Not until I get to level six!!!"
I have no idea what "level six" is, or what game she's playing; it involves skiing but that's all I know. xxxClaire did indeed make it to level six a few minutes later and joined the gang for lunch, where Linestra was speaking enthusiastically about her love of the violin:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y13.jpg

If I ever install Free Time she'll have an opportunity to actually play a violin, but for now the icon represents an interest in music in general, not a specific instrument. Note how the food is flying at Madame Foster's end of the table. Hungry, Madame? Not everyone was at the meal; Imaginary Light was still working on her painting, determined to finish it, while x_dummkoff_x and Samira Marville, well,:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y14.jpg

Free Time also puts an end to adult Sims fascination with the swings, makes children find ways to amuse themselves other than by cleaning the toilet, and makes a few other "under the hood" alterations to the game to encourage more age-appropriate behaviour. I'm not installing it until Maxis uploads a patch that works and Eric updates the InSIMenator, period. xdx and Samira did eventually get around to eating; it was starting to get late at that point so Lynnie got dinner preparation underway:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y15.jpg

Lynnie cooks, Linestra cleans, and the rest pitch in to help out here and there. It's a little chaotic but it works well enough for everyone. In the brief period between meals various minor things went on; the TV got watched, videogames were played, and people generally found ways to entertain themselves and each other. And while Luanne McBride was busy watching the TV an important conversation took place outside:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y16.jpg

"Hey, Madame Foster, got a sec? Listen, I really want to thank you for dropping by. Really made my girls day to meet you," Sparky said.
"Oh, no trouble at all, dearie," Madame replied with a smile. "You have a fine group here, very fine indeed."
"More on the way, too. Can I ask a huge favor of you?"
"Of course."
"Well, here's the thing. My girls don't know that your show has been cancelled but I'm sure they'll find out tommorrow. They're going to be upset. It would make them feel a whole lot better if you could swing by with everyone from the House later in the week, I know they'd love to meet everybody. It'd be a dream come true for all of them."
"Oh, dear," was Madame Foster's unexpected response. "I'm not sure that's a good idea."
"Huh?" This was clearly not the response Sparky had been expecting. "May I ask why not?"
Madame Foster sighed. "It's complicated," she said. "It has to do with the show."
"Hey, if you're worried about us giving away details of the remaining episodes I can assure you that anything you or the rest of the House tells us will be kept strictly confidential."
"It's not that. It's just... they don't know."
"About the cancellation? How come? Wouldn't you all be the first to hear about it?"
"No, Ms. Read. What I mean is, they don't know about the show at all."

I didn't see that coming... :o

To be continued...

Lynnie 04-09-2008 10:01 PM

Wow... So no one at the Foster house knows they've been taped living their every day lives? No one at the Cassiman house, either? Isn't that against the law? :wiltshock: 8D

Cool, we've all met Madame F now. Yay! And I hope she still manages to get everyone at her place to come over to the NF place. Heh heh, and she liked the chili I see.

Nah, I say you're never too old to swing on swings. I've always loved them. I still love them! Only thing is, I tend to get motion sickness much faster now than I did when I was a girl. I can literally start getting nauseous. It makes me kind of sad because I just LOVE swings! :bloosad:

jekylljuice 04-10-2008 02:03 AM

Wow, is this a Truman Show-esque conspiracy in the making?

Anyhow, yippie! I got to meet Madame Foster. :mfoster: That's certainly put me in a good mood for today. :smed:

Also, Sparky regards us as her "girls"? Aww, how very touching. :berry:

Fomalhaut 04-10-2008 05:24 AM

This was sweet. Poor Sparky... Come on, Madame Foster, just a visit!

Love this. Can't wait for more!!!

Let's find out...

The sun set right after Madame Foster dropped her little bombshell on Sparky. Both went inside, Sparky going online and Madame Foster going to the dinner table to await the evening meal. Unfortunately, the chief cook and her chief assistant, both of whom were sick to death of doing all the cooking and cleaning, decided dinner wasn't their problem, they were going to have fun on the swings and that's all there is to it:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y18.jpg

And they did indeed have a good time. Oh, you Sims and your swings... anyway, xxxClaire didn't want to wait on them, so she went ahead and took a shot at making dinner herself:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y19.jpg

One huge platter of spaghetti and meatballs, coming up. Cooking isn't her favorite activity but she knows what she's doing; most of the residents have a point or two in the skill. Jekylljuice and Luanne joined Madame Foster to wait to be fed:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...25/ww2y20a.jpg

Luanne is still being cranky but with the prospect of food on the way she's more polite now than she was earlier. The conversation wasn't about anything in particular, although the suitcase icon appeared several times so I think travel was the main topic. Dinner commenced soon thereafter, another haphazard affair, with people drifting to and from the table as hunger took them (and as seats became available). More talk followed the meal; Sims happily chatter away without any prompting from me, except for the really shy ones. Sparky hooked up with Samira Marville in her office:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y21.jpg

A pleasant change for Sparky, no doubt; Samira is probably the most level-headed guest they've had at the Forum house. Back in the dining area, Linestra caught up with Madame Foster and the two had a lively chat:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y22.jpg

They're discussing the enviroment, although you'd never know it from watching them. It's the icons in their speech balloons that tell the story; I've played the game enough now that I can often follow whole conversations. Nearby, Jekylljuice cornered Luanne:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y23.jpg

"So, Mrs. McBride, I hear you have four sons about my age. Are they cute?" Oi, vey. I'd add the "rolling eyes Bloo" smilie here but it'd put me over the image limit. At that moment, Imaginary Light finished her painting, sold it, and having had no socialisation for several hours, promptly got on the phone:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y24.jpg

She and the guy on the other end both have lightning bolt icons in their relationship panels, so I think the Serious Conversation I've mentioned a few times will be coming up soon. Just friends right now, and I'm not too worried, but they're on the Watch List. Outside, well, here we go again:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y25.jpg

The swings burn no calories, and Madame Foster is starting to get a little heavy, but she's having a good time. At least she was, until Sparky called her into the office. More on that in a moment. Samira and Luanne, tired from the day's events, went home soon thereafter, and most everyone else went to bed. Lynnie stayed up late with a cookbook, studying for the soon-to-be-played Headmaster Scenario:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y26.jpg

If she wins, everybody wins, and y'all will be off to private school and get embarassing spiffy new dork outfits school uniforms. In this pic, she'd clearly like the cameraman to take a hike.

Back to Sparky's office; she wants some answers, as I'm sure you all do, too. So late that evening, past midnight, really, she sat Madame Foster down and asked:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...125/ww2y17.jpg

"Are you serious? No one in the House knows that they've been animated and that Cartoon Network has been running a series about them for the past four years? How is this possible? Why haven't you told them?" Sparky asked.
Madame Foster sighed. "They're very private people, especially my grandaughter and Mr. Herriman. It's easier here in the Valley; CN isn't broadcast here. Back in the Pacific northwest I had to quietly convince everyone that the channel had nothing to offer. I showed Wilt a few episodes of Squirrel Boy and Gym Partner, plus an extra gross episode of Billy & Mandy; that convinced him to stay away from it and to keep the youinger residents from watching it. Eduardo was easy; five minutes of Adult Swim was all it took. He won't go near CN. Coco never watched it anyway, when Bloo lived with us I steered him to videogames, and my dear Mr. Herriman regards CN as 'intellectual rubbish that rots the mind as surely as candy rots the teeth'." She smiled at the memory. "Bendy and Berry weren't with us very long at the time and when they rejoined us in the Valley, it didn't matter anymore."
"Very clever," said Sparky, "But what about the internet? My Forum, for instance. How'd you keep them from finding out that way?"
"Blocking software and sophisticated search filters."
"You blocked my Forum? Nevermind. What about trips out of the House?"
"We never took any, at least not to places with TV's. If we had to go to the mall I'd check CN's schedule first. Oh, there were some close calls but it all worked out in the end."
"I see. What about Frankie? The IF's may not have anyone to visit but she must have. What about her? And why'd you do this in the first place?"
"I did it for the money." Madame Foster sounded quite unhappy. "Donations were almost nonexistent. Our savings were dwindling. Do you have any idea how much it costs to run Foster's? I met Craig McCracken by chance one day. We talked, he mentioned that he was looking for an idea for a new show, and I talked him into using us as characters and stories from our lives as plotlines. I gave him everything he needed; we drew up a contract, he animated us from the tapes I gave him, and it went from there."
"Tapes? And how'd you keep Frankie from finding out?"
"The House security tapes. I don't know what's on them, and I don't watch the show. I don't watch because I don't want to be reminded of what I did to my poor grandaughter to keep her in the house." Madame Foster had a tear in her eye. "And now it may all be for nothing. I moved us here because the taxes are lower, and I remember that they were, but now there's a huge gap in my memory, the taxes are higher than I thought they'd be, and I hear rumors that because of some stupid musical instrument that nobody wants to talk about, they're going to go higher still. And now with the show ending, pretty soon we're going to start running out of money. In the not-too-distant future, we may have to shut down."

Madame Foster politely excused herself and went home. Sparky went to bed. There was nothing left to say.

(To be continued...)

Lynnie 04-22-2008 12:31 AM

Aah, I see how a TV show was made of them without their knowing. ...I think. So they're the ones the show is based upon, the show's not actually of themselves. I fear for them at finding out now though. Once again Madame F's weaker judgement comes out to play, although she did it in the interest of the whole house.

Haha, I'm swinging with steletto heels! I can't imagine...! :wiltshock: 8D

Oh my, the teens could be headed off to private school? I guess it would be cool in the game, but yeah, let's be glad it's not in real life. I never liked school uniforms. They might be fun at first, like a costume or somethng, but after having to wear them every day and not being able to show one's individuality, ugh. Not to say the schools are bad, because they're usually really good. But for their sake, I hope they don't get sent to private school and are forced to wear uniforms every day.

Heheh, JJ doesn't seem to be the type to go around asking women if they have cute sons. That made me crack up. 8D Ooh, IL's making a friend. nice. And thank you Claire for cooking! :D I'm sure it was delicious.

It's better in the game; private school is less draining on a Sim's various needs than public school. Also, public school attendees occasionally get cash awards, which are useful, but their private school counterparts get skill points instead, which in the long run are far more valuable.

That's pretty much up to you. I haven't posted any comments on that aspect of the game as yet because there hasn't been any need for it but that will no doubt change over time. Rest assured, guidelines will be forthcoming very soon, For now, two basic rules:

1. Everyone is fair game for everyone else, subject to what y'all want to do.
2. Almost all of what (if anything) happens will have to be handled via PM.

Everyone might want to think about this fairly carefully for a bit.

I played the McBride family several hours ago. Long overdue for that, too; they were stuck on Monday while most of the rest of the neighborhood has advanced to early Thursday morning. Had a blast; the game failed to crash, things ran fairly smoothly, and the random elements conspired to give me some new avenues for advancing the plot. I love it when things work out well. Some of the pics may be up soon. Just one for now, but it's one hell of a pic indeed:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1.../Lightning.jpg

Actually it's two pics sliced together, as you can tell. By sheer chance I pressed the Pause button at the exact moment when the bolt struck. I spent a few moments staring at it in wonder, then moved the camera back as far as I could and got to work. Needless to say, I was pretty happy to have caught this. ;D

Cassini90125 04-25-2008 09:21 AM

I hate posting back-to-back. :P

This is from last night's game session. Luanne McBride, having gained her fourth point in Cooking skill, is eager to try it out. She'd skipped breakfast earlier and is very hungry, as is her husband Travis. Their four sons, Kenneth, Neal, Quentin, and Robert, will be home from school soon, no doubt with guests, and all of them are likely to be hungry, too. What better way to feed a mob like that than with a big pot of chili? Unfortunately, while four points of Cooking skill allows her to make chili, it doesn't guarantee that she'll get it right, and sure enough, she doesn't:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/Fire1.jpg

Notice how she doesn't seem to be aware of the fire. The McBrides are a fun family to play but they're not the brightest bunch in the Valley. She does see the fire a moment later, as does Travis:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/Fire2.jpg

Virtually identical reactions. They're so in-synch with each other. If it were me I would've thrown her over my shoulder and been out the door by now, waiting for the fire department to show up. The fire truck arrived moments later, summoned by the smoke detector, and the fireman springs into action:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/Fire3.jpg

Why they don't get the hell out of his way is a mystery to me. I guess standing around and screaming is more fun. The fire was out soon thereafter. Travis was more than a little upset by all this, and I don't blame him one bit. Luanne, on the other hand, thought the event was kind of funny:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/Fire4.jpg

"Aww, c'mon, honey, don't be such a big baby! You did say you like your chili hot, right?" He did, but I think he was referring to the peppers. 8D

Sparky 04-25-2008 11:09 AM

That last picture is *really* funny, I love how she's just grinning like that. And what's up with the abandoned bowl on the floor, lol? 8D

Cassini90125 04-25-2008 11:21 AM

The bowl was left there by Kenneth, the eldest son, after the previous night's dinner. Seems that the extra three feet to get it to the sink was too much for him. Dude makes Terrence look like a genius.

Lynnie 04-25-2008 01:02 PM

I love that lightning shot. I bet it was awesome in real life. Was there a boom of thunder at the same time? Curious how it happened under a clear starry sky.

Oh my, a raging fire in the kitchen. I've been there too. It was actually my father who started a fire on the stove top, and we managed to get it put out before calling the fire department. The stove top was pretty messed up after that, though, all charred and some pieces melted. Blech. From what I can see, their stove is still ok. And no smoke staining on the walls and ceiling? How did they manage that? :wiltshock:

Poor Travis. I feel your terror, buddy. :bloosad:

Cassini90125 04-25-2008 03:28 PM

Please note that effective immediately, I am not allowing any new Forum Sims in Foster's Valley. I do not care to discuss my reasons. This decision is final.

There was a thunderclap, and it was a loud one, too. As for the sky, well, I don't even pretend to understand how weather works in the Valley. :terrconf:

The lack of smoke damage is because the game designers didn't include it in the graphics, although they did include messes for nearly everything else. A fire causes a very large drop in hygiene as well, for those standing near it. Lunch was delayed by another hour while both of them hit the showers. After that, it was chef salad for the rest of the day; no stove involved. 8D

Okay then. I guess I won't appear in your game...=P

Cassini90125 04-27-2008 04:57 PM

I didn't have any other choice. Let's leave it at that.

And now, back to the story...

Foster's Valley - The mystery deepens

Pity the Forum Administrator:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/mcb01.jpg

Sparky got summoned for Welcome Wagon duty again. I have no idea why the game keeps picking on her. Here we see her looking to the sky and you can almost hear her saying, "Sheesh, again?!?!", although at this point she might be saying something a trifle ruder. Making matters worse is that today's Welcome Wagon is at the McBride house, and the McBride and Forum adults aren't too fond of each other. On the bright side, Luanne does serve a dang good grilled cheese sandwich:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/mcb02.jpg

Also sentenced to selected for Welcome Wagon duty were Mac's mom and Louise's mom, two more people who don't get along too well. Seen above, Barbara is teasing Rhonda about her recent job loss; Rhonda got fired from her prestigious law firm the previous day and Barbara can't resist the urge to give her a little grief about it. Barbara usually gets the better of their encounters. Also present at the table are Travis and Luanne, along with their third son, Quentin, who I think I mentioned awhile back is the only really decent member of the family. Wants to become a doctor as I recall. After lunch it was time to crowd into the TV area, where Rhonda got a small measure of revenge:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/mcb03.jpg

Neal McBride chats with Sparky, who accidentally smacks Barbara in the face, and Rhonda applauds. In the background, Travis is also amused. Unlike the rest of my Sims, Travis is employed in a custom career I downloaded from MTS2. He wants to get into the "Criminal" career track but for now he is at level one in the "Scum Of Society" career, busily filching coins from mall fountains. 8D

Sparky eventually got tired of watching TV while standing and sat at the dining table, where Rhonda joined her a few minutes later. The conversation was interesting:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/mcb04.jpg

"You don't want to be here, either, right?" asked Rhonda.
"I want to go home and soak in the tub for an hour," was Sparky's response. "I'm tired of Welcome Wagon duty. I want to soak, relax, eat whatever Lynnie's putting on the table tonight, and try to make sense of some things."
"Like what?" Rhonda smiled. "Maybe I can help?"
Sparky smiled in return. "Maybe you can. You see, I had a chat with Madame Foster yesterday, and she told me-"
Rhonda's smile vanished as she cut Sparky off "Hold it," she said. "I don't know what that old woman has been saying about me but I want to make this clear. I did not sell Bloo to her, I just rented him, okay? I needed to get him out of the house. Dammit, I needed a break! All the fighting, the horrendous messes, it was too much! I met her one day, I mentioned what a major hassle Bloo was, and when she told me about some deal she had with CN and offered me all that money to take him off my hands, it was too good to pass up! Besides, I did let him come back when the deal expired, right? I know it was wrong but everyone has a moment of weakness and I was at the breaking point. You've seen the show, well trust me, at the time he was worse. So don't judge me until you've walked a mile in my shoes, okay?" With that, Rhonda left the table and left a stunned Sparky with another mystery. Mac's mom and Madame Foster conspiring together before the show began? What did the grand old lady want with Bloo? She needed answers. And she still wanted everyone at Foster's to come to the Forum house.

(At that point in the game, the taxi showed up for the optional trip downtown. Travis got the call and I opted to go for it, despite the chance of another Community Lot game crash. But this time it didn't, and against very high odds the story took exactly the twist I needed...)

Sparky excused herself from the McBride house and went out for a cup of coffee. She opted for the 125 Cafe, the same place Travis and his friends were headed. While there, she spotted someone she'd never met but nonetheless knew, and decided that it was time to go over Madame Foster's head... or behind her back, depending on how you look at it:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/mcb05.jpg

Introductions took place, followed by small talk, mostly about how hard it is to keep a huge house like Foster's clean and running smoothly, and then, "So, tell me, Frankie, I've always been curious. What ever happened to baby Paco?"
"Eduardo still has him," Frankie smiled. "Still feeds him a bottle once a day, and... waitaminute, how do you know about baby Paco??"

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/mcb06.jpg

"It's a long story," said Sparky. "But I'll tell you what. From what you've said it sounds like you and your whole family could use a day off. You're all newcomers to this area; my group's been here for a long time. Let us show you a little northwest Valley hospitality. What say you all pack up and hang out at our place for a day, let us take care of you for awhile. No cleaning, and Lynnie's a great cook. I'll tell you about how I heard about baby Paco, too, and maybe a few other things you'd like to know. Think of it as a vacation. How's, oh, Wednesday sound?" Frankie, always overworked, thought that it sounded great. "Wednesday it is," she smiled.

It's all going to hit the fan very soon. Stay tuned... ;)

Imaginary Light 04-27-2008 05:36 PM

Yay! The Foster's gang is coming to the Forum house :P I'm excited!

Sparky 04-27-2008 05:42 PM

Wait so, did SimSparky supposedly make Baby Paco?

Lynnie 04-28-2008 04:09 PM

There's a plate with a sandwich on it on the floor in the table shot. Why? Not very hygienic. 8D And I love that Rhonda is cheering for Sparky accidently smacking Barbara in the face, that cracks me up.

Yay, so everyone's coming over to the forum house? Including the Cassiman household? Oh yes, I'm sure Lynnie will be more than happy to cook for them all. Hmm, what to make, what to make.....

Btw, whenever I hear the "hit the fan" saying I think of the movie Ten Things I Hate about You with Julia Stiles and Heath Ledger. One of my favorite scenes is at the prom where one of their friends says in "Olde English" "The ****eth hath hitteth the faneth". 8D I've loved that saying ever since.

No. She mentioned it to pique Frankie's interest and give her more incentive to drag everyone over for a visit. Baby Paco is still from the Game Hive; you know about it from the show, but Frankie doesn't know that, so she's no doubt curious as to how you know about it. Madame Foster will not be pleased with you. :mfoster: 8D

The plate is on the floor because the McBrides can't be bothered to wait until there's a clear path to the sink. Seems to happen more in that house than any other for some reason. The Cassimans won't be along, by the way; while that would certainly add to the fun (Bloo + Bendy + breakable items = major hilarity) the house will already be overcrowded and I don't want to push this crash-prone game any harder than I have to. As for the cooking, I may get you either a buffet table or a hack, otherwise you'll have no time for socialising. :bloocross:

First Sim born in the Valley:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/SBBC.jpg

Sarah Burnell, daughter of Robert and Linda Burnell, was born, or should I say reborn (thanks a lot, SecuROM), this morning at approximately 4:50 AM Eastern time. My congratulations to the exhausted parents. 8D

Lynnie 05-01-2008 06:21 PM

Exhausted parents indeed. Especially the mother. Imagine, having the same baby twice. Uhm... no, no I can't imagine. I refuse to even try. Yes, congrats are in order. :)

Aw, so we won't get to meet Mac and Bloo? That's too bad, but I can see how it can't be helped. We don't want the house burned down because Bloo and Bendy are in the same house again. Or flooded, for that matter. And who'd clean up the mess afterward? Probably Lynnie, huh? :P Oh well, I look forward to meeting Frankie, Wilt and Ed. :smed:

Mac's family might make a separate appearance at the Forum house eventually. As for the house burning down, funny you should mention that...

A little free time before dinner:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/J25a.jpg

It's around 3:00 in the afternoon in this pic. Linestra is doing her homework, Lynnie coaches her, and Sparky kills time before work with the dartboard. Fairly typical scene in the house, nothing too exciting. Jekylljuice and xxxClaire are already out of the house and at their jobs in the Slacker and Gamer careers, respectively; the rest are entertaining themselves in one way or another. About an hour later the carpool showed up and whisked Sparky away to her job; she works the drive-through window at a fast food joint that specializes in hot dogs, imaginatively called "The Dog House". (Not what I originally wanted to call it but the funnier choices were a little questionable. PM me if you really want to know.) It was late in the afternoon at that point and Lynnie opted to get dinner ready. Tonight's dish of choice: salmon with lemon-dill sauce, with garlic mashed potatoes and herbed zucchini on the side. Sounds pretty dang good. As it turned out, blackened catfish would've been a far better choice:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/J25b.jpg

Here we see Lynnie and Linestra doing the ritual fire dance in perfect synch while Imaginary Light appears to be screaming at me. "Do something, Simmaster! Aaaaa!!!" I did do something; I installed a smoke detector before y'all moved in. Things then proceeded pretty much as they had at the McBride house the day before; the fire truck rolled up, the fireman put out the blaze, and everyone hit the showers. Fires tank a Sim's Hygiene meter. There was an additional problem this time, however; both Imaginary Light and Linestra had "Fire" in their respective Fear panels and their Aspiration meters plummeted. Never a good thing, and particularly bad for Imaginary Light, who's meter had been low to begin with. Now it was at rock bottom, and when that happens a Sim undergoes mental collapse and the Sim Shrink drops from the sky to administer psychological counseling. The Shrink is invisible to everyone but his patient, by the way, so while the distressed Sim undergoes therapy, the others point at him/her and think he/she is crazy. It's actually kind of funny to watch - I saw it exactly once, way back when I first started playing - but it's best avoided if possible. Other than exiting the lot without saving the game (and losing the entire day), there are only two ways to avoid the Sim Shrink:

1. Get some Aspiration Points immediately.
2. Game hacks.

I play an honest game so #1 was the way to go, if possible, and as it turned out there was a Want in Imaginary Light's Wants panel that was easy to fulfill, not too expensive, and carried a nice fat 1500 point bonus. Best of all, a couple other members of the house had the Want, too, and that's how you all became the proud owners of... A New Car!!!

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/J25c.jpg

The Smoogo Minima, in off-beige. The manufacturer's description:

Quote:

We know you've got money problems. Here at Smoogo, we have them, too. Sure, other car companies think that throwing money away on things like genuine steel bolts and welding lessons for their employees is the way to do business, but at Smoogo we know that these things cost money. Thats why cutting corners is what we do best. The Smoogo Minima: You don't want to pay too much; we don't want to try too hard.
Um... yeah.

A few hours later Sparky returned home, reeking of hot dogs and fries, but with good news, sort of, as the text in the next pic shows:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/J25d.jpg

So begins the long climb up the ladder of the Culinary Career track. Don't you just love that uniform? 8D She looked briefly at the car, decided she didn't want to know what happened, and went inside for dinner. Everyone else ate the remains of the salmon; Sparky wanted nothing to do with it and instead whipped up a bowl of macaroni and cheese:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...90125/J25e.jpg

I think Lynnie was a trifle miffed as she walked by. "What, my salmon isn't good enough for you?"
"I'm supposed to limit my dietary intake of ash. Doctor's orders. Seriously."
Lynnie started to say something, thought better of it, and went and studied her cookbook. Good idea, too; after all, the private school Headmaster was coming the next day and he expected to be well fed. And the day after that... the Foster's cast. Stay tuned for pics from both events. :)

Lynnie 05-04-2008 10:42 PM

8D 8D 8D Well Lynnie, just burn the house down why don'cha? Oh dang, that's scary. I'm soo, soo, sooooo sorry IL and Linestra!! :-[ Thank you for installing a smoke detector, Cass. I'm sure that saved our lives. That meal sounded pretty darn good too. It's a shame it was burnt to ash. 8D

Congrats to IL on the car and Sparky for now being a manager! :yeah:

And, yes Lynnie, go read some more cookbooks. We don't want to start any more fires.

Imaginary Light 05-05-2008 07:50 AM

8D

Oh, jeez, isn't that just classic?
But hey, I got a new car out of it, wooo!

And congrats to SimSparky for the spiffy promotion. :)

xxxClaire 05-06-2008 07:01 PM

8D A fire... that's hilarious! 8D
And yay! A new car! :D

Cassini90125 05-12-2008 07:44 PM

The best part about Sim cars is that even the cheapest ones require no gas. It wobbles a bit but it has an alarm (cost an extra $100.00), which will come in handy on the inevitable day when the Burglar shows up.

Day Five at the Never Forgotten house, either Wednesday or Friday depending on how you look at it (the game thinks it's Wednesday), started off pretty low-key. xxxClaire took her turn at the easel:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms01.jpg

Linestra, not hungry enough for a full breakfast, dug into a bag of chips:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms02.jpg

Imaginary Light, not hungry at all for some reason, killed time in front of the upstairs TV:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms03.jpg

In truth I think she wasn't hungry because she was nervous about the arrival of the Foster's Valley private school Headmaster later that day; she had more riding on getting into private school than anyone else in the house. Jekylljuice and x_dummkoff_x, on the other hand, didn't care in the slightest about private school one way or another; after waking up and refusing to make their beds yet again, they headed directly for the kitchen and began making breakfast:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms04.jpg

x_dummkoff_x was quite hungry and opted to take a crack at making pancakes; Jekylljuice, not so hungry, opted for cereal. Yeah, they keep their cereal in the refridgerator, dunno why. My guess is to keep the milk company. Lynnie and Sparky slept in and didn't get up until everyone else had left for class. Sparky also had the day off from the hot dog place, which is why today was the best day to wine and dine the Headmaster. Might've been a great day for a trip to the park, too, but I didn't want to run her and Lynnie down; too much to do at home that day. Anyway, at 1:00 PM the school bus arrived and the gang returned home:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms05.jpg

Two of these three do not have homework today; I'll leave it to y'all to guess which one wasn't so lucky. Normally all child and teen Sims get homework, and they hate it; the latest addition to my arsenal of game modifications changes that. The "Homework Hack" makes homework assignments dependent on grades and adds a random element to the mix, plus some Sims now think homework is fun. Stars, I wish someone had hacked my life when I was in school. Some of the returnees were hungry, as was Sparky, so she got out the greens and got to work:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms06.jpg

Chef salad again. No chance of a fire with that. Sparky was joined at the table by Linestra, who was distracted by something else entirely:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms07.jpg

It's always a little unnerving when they act like they know I'm there. Here it's just a random turn of the head, and in other cases it's me repositioning the camera, but with one of them in another neighborhood I'm not so sure. Long story. A little after 5:00 PM the Headmaster arrived and Lynnie went out to greet him:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms08.jpg

And then something went wrong; specifically, it turned out that the salads, pancakes, and cereal earlier in the day had depleted the refridgerator. Definitely not a good thing. There was still some cleaning to be done, too, and of course the Headmaster must be entertained. So, what do the responsible adults do about all this? What they always do at every opportunity:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms09.jpg

Play with the Bubble Blower. 8D

(Continued in the next post, which I'll write in a few minutes...)

Lynnie 05-12-2008 07:56 PM

Hahaha!! Looks like fun. Especially being able to float off the ground. No wonder the Sims like it so much. Yeah, I'd be addicted to it too I bet if it were real. 8D Who wants to clean and prepare when you can play with the bubble blower?

Cassini90125 05-12-2008 10:06 PM

Dang Sims will play with that weird thing until their stomachs are empty, their bladders are full, and they're about to pass out from exhaustion. Eh, it keeps them out of trouble, more or less.

With the adults busy getting buzzed on the bubble blower, everyone else had to take care of things themselves. The first order of business was to get the refridgerator restocked as fast as possible, so Linestra called one of the local grocery stores:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms10.jpg

I think it was the one at the mall but I suppose it doesn't matter much. The order was placed, and several hundred dollars worth of groceries were on the way, hopefully in time to get dinner on the table before the scenario played out. In the meantime the Headmaster must be schmoozed and amused. Based on past experience, the person best suited to that particular job is the one who's personality is closest to the Headmaster's. Common interests help, too, but those are harder to guess. As for personality, that was fairly easy to figure out, and the best match went out to have a chat with him:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms11.jpg

It worked out rather well, overall. Schmoozing nets the fewest points of any activity in the Headmaster Scenario but every point counts, and you don't want to leave anything to chance. Night fell while they were chatting and Imaginary Light went into the bubble blower room to kickstart Lynnie and Sparky. Lynnie roused herself in time to accept delivery of the groceries:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms12.jpg

And from there she was off to the kitchen to stuff a bird and get it into the oven as fast as possible:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms13.jpg

Hopefully the oven won't explode like it did earlier in the week. X_dummkoff_x eventually tired of dealing with the Headmaster, so Sparky took over the job of keeping him occupied:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms14.jpg

While this was going on the rest of the residents were busy cleaning and scrubbing everything in site; the scenario includes a home inspection by the Headmaster, so everything has to be spotless. It was quite chaotic inside, with everybody getting in everybody else's way and generally being hard to keep track of, but in the end the house was spotless and got a dang good tour score. That, plus more schmooze points from Sparky's efforts and dinner conversation, had everything going very well:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms15.jpg

79/90. Not bad at all, and there's virtually no way that Lynnie's turkey will score less than eleven points. X_dummkoff_x and Jekylljuice were not at dinner when I took this pic; the former wasn't very hungry and was more interested in the bubble blower than anything else (yeah, big surprise), while the latter was at work, pumping gas. Jekylljuice ate at work as well, and when she got home she headed straight for the easel:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms16.jpg

xxxClaire had finished her own painting just before dinner so the easel was free to use. Dinner wound down at that point, the final score was calculated, and Sparky got the good news:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms17.jpg

Seems that the Headmaster was impressed by the Never Forgotten household:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms18.jpg

I have yet to meet a Headmaster that didn't love a turkey. Thus ended an exhausting day, exhausting both for the residents and a slightly frazzled Simmaster who played the scenario from start to finish without a break. As midnight approached it was time to head for bed, except for xxxClaire, who decided that she was too tired to walk that far:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/hms19.jpg

Fortunately, it's a very comfortable couch. (Insert smiling Mac smilie here.)

Up next... I dunno. Probably a quick look in the Cassiman house. Then the Foster's cast visits the Forum house. Stay tuned...

Fomalhaut 05-13-2008 11:56 AM

Ah, xxxClaire sleeping on the couch is waaay too familiar... not only in The Sims 2, even in real life, just like I did today when I came back from University...
Oh, and that's right about the headmaster - turkey is the best choice, and serving also a dessert helps a lot. And walking around in formalwear :D

xxxClaire 05-13-2008 03:18 PM

8D I love the pic of me sleeping on the couch... I do that all the time. :P

Lynnie 05-13-2008 07:13 PM

Yay, I'm glad everything went well with the Headmaster. Oooh, turkey. Ok, I'm officially hungry now. ;) I'm greatly looking forward to the next installments. I wonder what Mac and Bloo have been up to lately. And of course I want to see what goes down when the whole Foster's house gets together with the NF house.

I like the pic of Claire sleeping, too. I hope it's a warm day, otherwise I'm wishing she had a throw of some sort. I just slept on my couch yesterday wrapped in my afghan. Yeah, it's a relaxing thing to do when you're not actually wanting to go to bed yet.

Cassini90125 05-16-2008 12:28 AM

One thing I accidentally left out was the reason that Imaginary Light had more riding on the Headmaster Scenario than anyone else. Success meant a bonus of 3500 Aspiration points; failure would've cost her that many. She got 'em. Spend them wisely.

Well, I'll tell you...

Foster's Valley - More Bloo For You

Yeah, lame title. I'm tired.

Rhonda had the day off from work and decided to do a little damage control:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/NPS01.jpg

She's calling Madame Foster. "Hi, Martha? It's me, Rhonda. Listen, I thought I'd better let you know that I, um, well-"
Madame Foster interrupted. "Get to the point, dear. My lunch is getting cold."
Rhonda continued. "I let something slip the other day to whatshername, that Read woman. She knows we did something with Bloo-"
What Madame Foster said in response would've made Carmel Delicious proud, which is why I'm not repeating it here. "Suspended" is a title I don't want. Rhonda continued. "Hey, I didn't give her any details, okay? I was caught off guard. Look, at least I'm giving you a heads-up about it. Oh, I got a letter from the town offices today; you, me, and Mr. Herriman got stuck with Welcome Wagon duty at the Burnell place tommorrow. Bye!" Rhonda hung up; what Madame Foster said next is best left to your imaginations. Carmel Delicious would've been very proud. Mac and Bloo got home from school a few minutes later:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/NPS02.jpg

Mac got homework; Bloo did not. Bloo's last homework assignment was to do a book report on Charlotte's Web; he handed in a sheet of paper with the word "Lame" written on it. He seldom gets homework anymore because his teachers don't see the point. I'll give him credit for creativity, though; earlier in the week for a science report he handed in a photocopy of a recipe for borstch. No homework for Terrence, either, who went upstairs to play videogames:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/NPS03.jpg

He's not too bad at it, either. Victoria thought he was pretty dang good:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/NPS04.jpg

Victoria came with the game and followed Mac home from school this day. Seems she liked Terrence's company better. Mac also brought home a pet:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/NPS05.jpg

Womrats are fun. They don't do much other than eat and run around their cages but they're cute, amusing, and low maintenance. Reaction from the family to the little furball, which Mac named "Issac", was mixed. Rhonda told Mac to keep it clean, odor-free, and quiet; Bloo looked at it suspiciously and wondered it he'd have to compete with it for Mac's attention; Terrence laughed at Mac, said that womrats are lametarded, and teased him for a half an hour. While that was happening, Victoria joined Bloo at the dopwnstairs TV:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/NPS06.jpg

As it turned out, there wasn't anything good on other than a rerun of Space Gnome, so the two found something else to do, and I have to say I found this next scene to be absolutely enchanting:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/NPS07.jpg

Just a game of Mary Mack, but... I don't know. The game throws things like this at me and I get all warm and smiley. Yeah, I'm a sap. Sue me. The clock struck 6:00 PM a moment later and Victoria went home. Time for dinner; spaghetti again, a favorite at the Cassiman house. Of course, even dinner can be unpredictable when Bloo is at the table; you never know what he's going to do or say next:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/NPS08.jpg

"Bloo! You know better than to do that at the table!"
I leave the details to your imaginations. 8D

More from the Cassiman residence coming up shortly... :)

Lynnie 05-16-2008 06:26 PM

Ah, so that's what Mac and Blooregard have been up to lately. Doesn't seem fair that Mac gets homework and Bloo doesn't, when Mac's the good one. But I guess it does kind of make sense, his teachers are wanting to nourish his mind and help him expand it, when it would be totally useless to do so with Bloo, so why waste time and energy? :P I like that shot of Bloo and Victoria on the floor. So they're clapping their hands together and rhyming? I hope he was nice to her. Looks like he was, though. And as for that last picture, yes I used my imagination and I'm amused that Mac appears to be amused at it and Terrence has a look of shock on his face. 8D

Blooregard, behave!

Fomalhaut 05-17-2008 08:25 AM

That Bloo outfit is still just too weird! I prefer a human-looking Bloo, this one confuses me.

Nice work, btw! I especially like the shot of Terrence playing with the video game :)

He'll grow out of it, eventually; the outfit is only available for children.

The next morning Rhonda was out of bed bright and early, and talking to herself in a mirror:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/NPS09.jpg

Specifically, she's practicing being charismatic and building Charisma skill. In other words, becoming a better liar, which is a very useful ability when you're assigned to the Welcome Wagon and about to get dumped in some forsaken shack in the woods for the entire day and you have to say "My, what a lovely home you have!" to the owners, who make the gang from The Dukes Of Hazzard look positively sophisticated. At least there's free food involved. The carpool arrived just after the schoolbus and off she went:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/NPS10.jpg

Bloo, surprisingly, is already on the bus; I think he likes having a crowd around him, sort of like an entourage. Egomaniac. Mac held the bus up for a bit, cleaning up the breakfast dishes:

http://i47.photobucket.com/albums/f1...0125/NPS11.jpg

As you might expect, he does this quite a lot, whereas Bloo hardly does it at all and tends to complain if I make him tidy up anything. Rhonda and Terrence are somewhere in between. Terrence held up the bus as well, getting in a last minute phone call:

He's calling one of the Bandrowsky girls. Not a group you want to get mixed up with; the one he knows, Christine, thinks of him as a hassock but tolerates him well. The other two would probably think of him as a lab rat. Christine had already left for school when he called and he was loudly informed by her mother that he ought to be heading for class as well. Not a great start to the day. Rhonda wasn't having much fun either; once she arrived at the Burnell residence, fellow Welcome Wagoner Mr. Herriman started giving her grief:

Yep, that's exactly what it looks like; he's giving her make-up tips. She wasn't too happy about that, and was even less happy when Madame Foster joined in:

I love the expression on her face, kind of a "What did I do to deserve this?" look. She and Madame Foster barely spoke to each other that afternoon; both of them know what they did, and they're worried that they're about to get caught. There's going to be repercussions if the full story gets out. There's also going to be repercussions for this:

Back from school, Terrence spent the afternoon desperately trying to amuse himself. The videogames weren't enough, and picking on Mac and Bloo is only fun until Bloo turns the tables on you, which he did; while chasing Mac, Terrence slipped on a pre-placed banana peel and landed on his backside right beneath Bloo's bedroom window, where Bloo was waiting with a garbage pail full of water that he'd bathed in earlier. Yick. Terrence, after drying himself off, opted to spend time spying on the neighbors. Unfortunately one of them spotted him and right after sunset Terrence felt the wrath of an angry blue angel:

Of course he just had to mouth off to Amanda, and things got worse:

If the game allowed it she would have pulverized him on the spot. Fortunately for Terrence, teens and adults can't fight. Hopefully she'll have calmed down before his age transition, otherwise... well, it won't be pretty. Terrence needed some comforting at that point but he was pretty much out of luck; Mac and Bloo were laughing at him and Rhonda wasn't very sympathetic, reminding him that he'd brought it on himself. So he ended up turning to the one member of the family that he hadn't managed to frack off:

Terrence: "You's my buddy, right, Issac? Yes you is, yes you is! Who's a good widdle womwat?"
Issac: "Feed me."

(Insert a couple of laughing Bloo smilies here, and one of the smiling Mac ones, too.)

More fun on the way soon.
