Heya Nathander, thanks for dropping in and it's good to see you around here again. Lately, I've had some really good news - I passed my MA (all the stress and turmoil over that dissertation was worth it in the end), and I'll have graduated in just under a week. The next step of course will be figuring out exactly what to do with it. Hope that 2009's going well for you thus far - have you any particular plans for the year ahead?
That is a shame. Dumbland is alright. The main point of it is simply to show the absurdity and nauseating stupidity of what suburban American life has become. Thing is, he did seven-eight episodes of this when I really think the first was enough. I really want to see more by him, but I just don't have the time and money.
Sorry to hear about your computer. I reformatted mine just a bit ago, so it's recovered for the most part. Hope to hear good things about yours later.
A few months ago, I found a blog which hosted Rabbits, only it seems to have been removed now. Shame, because it's such a fascinating piece of film-making, it would have been great if they'd actually have included it as an extra on the Inland Empire DVD, since they re-used some of the footage from it in that film. All of David Lynch is excellent (though I haven't actually seen Dumbland), but I particularly recommend the Elephant Man, the Straight Story, Mulholland Dr and Inland Empire.
Yeah, my computer's being a bit rubbish too right now. It keeps showing me the Blue Screen of Death, which probably isn't a good sign.
Sorry for how late my own reply is, just a whole bunch of junk has been going on.
For the most part, I've been busy with school and work, which've taken up most of my time. I'm also going to be going out of town with my family this weekend, which is nice. Unfortunately, however, my computer has been messing up so I'm going to have to reformat it, and my car's battery is currently dead so we have to replace that. The joys of modern technology.
And I love Lynch, though so far I've only gotten to see Eraserhead and Dumbland. I've wanted to find someplace to see Rabbits, but haven't found it anywhere.
Heya Nathander, sorry for the late reply, I was visiting my parents last week and didn't get online much. I've been working on a lot of essay stuff lately, so it was nice getting away and seeing my family again, though it greatly saddens me to see that my cat, who I've had for fifteen and a half years, is beginning to show his age. It's something I can't do anything about, sadly. Hope all well's for you. Have you been up to much lately?
